I just started using it, and it is freaking good. I didn't quite understand just how much freedom you have in Playbox, I thought it would be kinda locked into what was already given by NA, but it is really easy to make your own. I just play around with music as a hobby, and I am generally not very good at making something sound "full" if you get what I mean but Playbox really helps with that. It feels like that good teacher that gives you just enough help to make something greater on your own.
Super refreshing to see you having fun with presets. Also cool to see it integrated into some hardware. At first glance I thought Playbox was just a throwaway toy that NI put out, but now I see it's much more! Love this style of video btw :)
Shaming an electronic musician for using presets is like shaming an acoustic musician for using a guitar they didn't build. You don't have to be a luthier to be a great musician.
Great insight into not only the coolest and most insane Plug-in this year, but also into the way presets can play a large role into inspiring you to create something greater. Playbox is literally just that, a box of gorgeous sound you want to play in all god damn day.
Was at a Hans Zimmer concert last weekend and he spoke about how many of his musicians studied for years from a very young age. The thing that mattered to him most is that they should have fun playing music, really playing in the fun sense of the word. I feel like with DAWs a lot of the 'playing with music' gets lost and tools like this focus on the playing part. Yes you can spend 3 days on a synth preset but if the music you end up making has no soul, no play, what was the point?
ooooh I didnt even know that this plugin existed! I clicked on the video for stank faces and now I am probably going to be spending some money on an awesome plugin haha. Sounds super cool and could be used in all sorts of different ways!
Thanks for this!!!!! I got Playbox and have been using it for samples....I is an amazing piece of musical software!!!!...Some really cool sounds!!!! 😎🎸👍
It's awesome to see your work with the OT. It's similar to how I've been using it, yet still so different, if that makes sense. Moar Octatrack stuff! Cheers.
Ok ok ok Jeremy, you just sold me on Komplete. I’ve never bought it before and have EW composer cloud so was in the fence. But Ozone, the world instruments and this make it worth the 300 cyber week deal for me. :)
Pretty cool video, Jeremy :) Love seeing your workflow, and this seems almost like a mandatory follow-up-video for most of your Groovebox/Sampler-videos. Waiting for a sampler to arrive, so might as well copy you and dig around the good ol' DAW :)
I had just watched the ezbot vídeo where you learnt the OT and this video is ~10 months later, and it looks like you have it down in terms of what you wana do with it. I was curious how long it would take as I want one but don’t want to dedicate a year to troubleshooting lol
love they way you said f - you ....lol For those who said using this sort of thing is cheating, I remember my uncle going on about how the drum machine was cheating back in the early 80s. Every decade there's always somebody whingeing about something
Wow NI knocked it out of the park with this one! I don't usually feel like I want a VST but wow! Have you checked out Lunaris and Bioscape for your pad fix?
18:53 I can't believe that ping pong loop might be the straw that breaks the Buy An Octatrack camel's back.... 🤦♂Unless they eventually add it to the DT... pleeeease!
Damn that beat turned out hardd. I’m still tryna figure out how you’re selecting different fx(scenes?) (I don’t have an OT). It seems like you’re just pressing trigs (not in REC mode) to select different fx, so are trigs just always fx selectors when not in REC mode?
you're selecting trigs at 22:07, but maybe you're just selecting patterns 🤔. I'm curious how crossfader fx are selected since I believe you can have 16 different ones@@RedMeansRecording
My girl thinks that’s cool. She’s played piano for a few years. She’s 8. Any advice for how she could get into this? I’m clueless musically, but she’s pretty sharp and I could help.
Really great video i love it. i don't why but i would love to see u making a video with the Roland SP 404 MK 2. I know that there are alot of videos with it, but not from RMR. I don't know but i think a RMR on the SP404 MK2 would be unique. Like this video for instance, there are other videos with Playbox but yours it's my favorite. I don't know it's something RMR in your videos. Anyways this is awkward now. Just make the videos. Thanks, Bye.
Hey! I'm kind of new to the pedal world. I'm looking for an effect pedal to use with my *digital piano* and hopefully future Synth, right now mainly with Piano and Rhodes sounds. I want to have unique expression. I (aspire to) play mostly Jazz, funk, fusion stuff like Vulfpeck, Cory Wong, Scary Pockets and DOMi & JD Beck. This will also be my first effect pedal I buy. Budget around 250$ but I can stretch a little. Any specific recommendations? Thank you!
I've checked the music laws and every tool but manually setting each sample point by hand is cheating. We're all going to jail. Awesome workflow jail that is! Where all the best jams are made.
If Beethoven was alive you can bet your arse he would use a DAW , nothing to used make music is cheating , I use ever skill and knowledge I have , plus I use presets, samples , my own guitar and bass playing , sometimes my voice , sometimes the voice of metal scraping against the girders in the warehouse where I work ,sometimes it’s the sound of nature slowed down till it reveals it’s secrets , playing some chords on a guitar and playing scales over it does not compare to the complexities of electronic music production , I can quite literally creat a new universe in my headphones.
i like to make my samples 24bit, because when you squish a bunch of different samples and synthesizers thru the octatrack, it's not as pleasing as the MPC for some reason?
this sounds incredible, and you apply it with such skill. what a pleasure, watching you build something. thank you!
I just started using it, and it is freaking good. Wow! You are insanely talented with this thing. This is one of the best Octatrack vids I've ever watched!
Shaming an electronic musician for using presets is like shaming an acoustic musician for using a guitar they didn't build. You don't have to be a luthier to be a great musician.
Wonderful. More OctaTrack please!!!🫠
Great insight into not only the coolest and most insane Plug-in this year, but also into the way presets can play a large role into inspiring you to create something greater. Playbox is literally just that, a box of gorgeous sound you want to play in all god damn day.
I’m about to put playbox and my digitakt to work after seeing this video! Thanks for the inspiration, as usual!
Fuck! This sample flipping at the end was so unexpectedly awesome! I could watch a 10h Video of you Jamming Beats like this on this device!
I just downloaded this today and it’s a friggin blast. Into the bitbox and it’s so dope.
Oh I should do that too

Playbox looks and sounds wonderful! That coupled with your approach Octa approach in this was super inspiring ty ty
I've always been intimidated by the octotrack but this video made it seem increasingly musical. love it!
ooooh I didnt even know that this plugin existed! I clicked on the video for stank faces and now I am probably going to be spending some money on an awesome plugin haha. Sounds super cool and could be used in all sorts of different ways!
This was pretty sick, I loved your end result. More OT always welcome! I think I need one..
This is EXACTLY how I felt when I bought Arkhis. I was walking around my studio making the 😈 face.
You are awesome! Enjoy Spring.
DAWs own, presets own, that beat at the end owns.
Hi Jeremy, not watched a vid for while but just wanted to congratulate you for the Grammy nomination. Couldn't happento a nicer guy!
;)
The OT jam is great. Especially the break chop stuff on track 7. You fit it in there real well with that processing.
Thanks for this!!!!! I got Playbox and have been using it for samples....I is an amazing piece of musical software!!!!...Some really cool sounds!!!! 😎🎸👍
this is the kind of instrument that could write several records
maybe a whole career's discography
Seriously
That's what I'm planning on lol. So much of this is my style and this takes out a lot of tedious work I was doing
22:03 *droolemoji*
Awesome video! Your workflows are really inspiring for someone suffering from terminal glued-to-the-DAW syndrome!
Wowsa. I learned a few tricks from this, that I will try with my DAWs soft sampler and the Novation LP3
It's awesome to see your work with the OT. It's similar to how I've been using it, yet still so different, if that makes sense. Moar Octatrack stuff! Cheers.
Sounds great!
Looks like you’re having a blast, that’s what it’s all about. Might run the samples through Morphagene to see if I like the results.
that actually turn out nice. good job dude.
Duuuude, I could listen to you jam on that all day!
Wow. Young Charles Dance doing crazy shit with music gear.
😄😄😄

u've really dove into that octatrack
That Octatrack sounds amazing!!!!
This is my vote for more Octatrack content
I just got this plugin and 5 other Ni and brainworx plugins for 44$. Just needed to share this insane deal.
At 2:05 I get Blade Runner vibes. Sounds awesome!
You're a fucking national treasure, Jeremy. Love this channel so hard.
Some Lorn vibes going on there ;-)
Oh absolutely
Some Lorne Michaels vibes
playbox is THE shit man. holy lord
I’ll be buying Playbox now, thanks Jeremy lol
Jeremy #1 Fingerdrummer Blake
I fucking love you, Jeremy.
I see a coaster, good. The instruments is.. awesome...
Excellent excellent video!
Love the track!
oh shit that’s cool
I have no clue whats going on, I'm just here for the enthusiasm
It always makes me laugh when you swear. Like you sound so professional then you cuss out of no where Lmao 🤣
Goddamnit! I'm just going to have to get an Octatrack now! 😂 Amazing performance!
I had just watched the ezbot vídeo where you learnt the OT and this video is ~10 months later, and it looks like you have it down in terms of what you wana do with it. I was curious how long it would take as I want one but don’t want to dedicate a year to troubleshooting lol
Lovely, thanks!
so good mate
the best companion for the octatrack is for sure a DAW.
I'm a preset-o-holic! No stigma here. ♥
Playbox is still my biggest time-sink 😂
This is some Hans Zimmer type of shit. I was reluctant on buying it but fuck it. Those pads sound amazing. And yeah. That's how i start tracks too.
Jeremy no i don't need an octatrack, i don't need this GAS hahaha, amazing work
This was SERIOUSLY a fun video! Loved it from soup to nuts and laughed out loud around the ten min mark there~
Perfect video 💖Such steazy.
Legowelt is the man!
Jesus. Off to the internet to purchase!! Wow
love they way you said f - you ....lol

yes!
This thing is like a way more fun cthulu. Great find.
Amon Tobin vibes
Wow 👏🤟
Is that a Charlie Brown cup?
Ha yeah

7:32 sounds like a Super Metroid instrument
cool
what do you enjoy more ? Digitakt or OT ? Lately digitakt seems too simple for me and I can't get anything than loops from it
If I could I would give this video 100 👍s.

You need to ask yourself what effect you want first
How are you mastering your tracks on this box? Does octatrack have overbridge capabilities?
It doesn't. I master everything in ozone.
Hey! Can you please review the T1 Sequencer from Torso Electronics? I seriously believe you would love it. Thanks!
I tried to use it and it didn't agree with me
I've checked the music laws and every tool but manually setting each sample point by hand is cheating. We're all going to jail. Awesome workflow jail that is! Where all the best jams are made.
can I adjust the attick and release ?
Speaking of 0G do you happen to know how to pull patches out of old Akai Cds in 2022?
I don't but the Google does
@@RedMeansRecording That guy's an asshole. He goes through my trash, stalks me, and I think he has been recording my phone calls.
Kontakt and Halton can read akp. Files used in S5/6000
NI polyplex rebranded
how did you import the loops into the octatrack? usb?
cf card
Exactly…the art of sampling is why we are here 😑
It really did take me a long time to get over resisting presets. Got brain-poisoned by elitists.
USE WHAT YOU WANT TO MAKE MUSIC (or noise) THE END

is Playbox worth it?
Why the bleeping?
I'm trying to be more family friendly
@@RedMeansRecording thought it’s your way of referencing Warp
Great video! But also can't believe you changed that dimished chord, it was so spicy. Literally unwatchable 😡
"I'm not gonna lick the octatrack."
unsubbed
that snare does not snap, bro! those jazz brushes not for slapping, LoL
i been on Soulseek finding vinyl rips to sample in my Octatrack, will give this a try, thanks Jeremy!
Quincy Jones and the entire recording industry made billions of dollars, using presets. It ain't what you got, son, it's HOW YOU USE IT!
i have ORB composer VST to help me with chords and melody, no shame it's all been played before.
i like to make my samples 24bit, because when you squish a bunch of different samples and synthesizers thru the octatrack, it's not as pleasing as the MPC for some reason?
