How much would you use for a horse sized halter? Or with each different size, 2 Ft more? Or is that too much? A ft? I make all different sizes of halter and not sure how much I should change the measurement fir each size so I’m not wasting
g'day lena, yes, you can, but you will probably need more paracord since it is wider than a rope halter, you will need to experiment a bit to see how much cord you need. maybe use 4 feet of cord and see how many inches it covers, then multiply that by how long your hoseband is. all the best.
Hi Sierra, I'm not really a fringe girl, so no I don't really, but if you have a look around Pinterest you will see quite a lot of fringe tack just adds in short pieces of paracord to their weave with a cow hitch/larks head knot, and I have also seen some with an extra granny knot on top of the initial knot to prevent it coming undone. I have also seen some with beads where they thread a strand through the braid, add beads, then tie a knot and melt the knot so id doesn't fray. all the best!
+Adam Jeske hi adam, there is a link under this video to my other video on how to make the actual halter. i used 6mm halter rope, sometimes called equestrian or yachting rope depending what country you are from. cheers mate.
+Sarah Swan Hi Sarah, the halter is not made from paracord, it is made from horse halter rope. there is a link under this video to my video of how to make the halter. hope this helps. :)
I was wondering how much paracord you'd recommend for the different types of nosebands you've done (basic tight-weave + cross patterns from this video, snake, two-tone, + flame from some of your other videos) if someone was using this halter sizing chart? i.pinimg.com/564x/cd/17/15/cd1715558a179862faba9a4342a2ee43.jpg
hi kip, i have put the cord amounts at the start of most of those videos i think. I just had a quick look at the two tone one again and i listed the cord amounts for three different size nosebands. you'll have to adjust up or down for the larger or smaller ones than listed There is only a couple of inches difference between all the different sizes so there won't be a lot in it. ua-cam.com/video/a9fCQabWQ_g/v-deo.html All the best!
hi lacey, not sure what you mean by 'regular size'. halter sizes are usually termed mini, pony, cob and full, depending on how big the horse's head is. This was a cob size, so you will use a few feet more for a bigger halter, and a few feet less for a smaller one.
What size halter is your horse currently wearing? if it is a cob, then you will use the same as in the video, if it is a full, you will need a few feet more, say around 15 feet of paracord should cover the noseband - experiment with more, and you can cut off the excess, rather than get to the end and you don't have enough.
measure your rope halter nose band (very top knots) so u know how much longer or shorter it is. for example mine is 13 inches instead of 9 so im gonna cut off at least 4 extra feet so i wont run out ;) i have an already cut 16ft of rope so i am able to test out size without wasting rope ill comment if 16 works
Hey nice video! But please don't tether your horses/donkeys wir a rope halter! When the panik and the pull on it it hurts them very very bad in the neck. Please think about it. Lots of love 💖
Its much easier to use a small bbq lighter to melt the ends. And you can use the sides of your scissor blades to smooth the melted end. I buy my cord from Cams Cord. Make sure you buy US made cord as its much nicer to work with than cheap stuff made in China.
hi, i used 550 paracord which is around about 4mm. If you click "show more" underneath the video, there is a link at the end where you can find it on amazon, or you can google 550 paracord. cheers mate.
hi maddie, it depends how tight or loose you want your noseband, but i'd start with 10 feet and cut off the excess when you're happy with your noseband.
+Audrey Bender hi audrey i sell them for $20 braided, and $16 plain plus postage. if you click on the link i gave you before, all the details are there.
I love these braids and will definitely try them out this summer!! And I could listen to you instruct all day!! : )
+Heather White thanks heather, have fun!
i think you are my personal favorite person to watch for halter videos. thank you for making them so easy and understandable!
Thanks for the kind words katrina!
Awesome job thanks lime green and black are my favorite colors;)
Wow! I never noticed it was that easy! Thank you😊
Very nice and an awesome explanation ❤
Love it, the pink is cute!
Very Very Very good
Thank you for doing this video! Do you make leadropes? If so, possibly do a video on how to make one?
+Kerbie Brose sorry kerbie, i don't know how to do leadropes.
How much would you use for a horse sized halter? Or with each different size, 2 Ft more? Or is that too much? A ft? I make all different sizes of halter and not sure how much I should change the measurement fir each size so I’m not wasting
Super helpful video! Could I weave this on a nylon standard halter too? Not just a rope one.
g'day lena, yes, you can, but you will probably need more paracord since it is wider than a rope halter, you will need to experiment a bit to see how much cord you need. maybe use 4 feet of cord and see how many inches it covers, then multiply that by how long your hoseband is. all the best.
Peace donkeys alrighty thanks so much! I have 2 pieces of 10 foot chord I think that should do the trick
How do you do it using halter squares and two different colours?
Thank you this helped a lot!! 😊🐎
thanks Carla, that's great!
ரொம்ப நல்லா இருக்கு சகோதரி.....
Can you do it over webbing?
is the paracord gentler than the regular rope halter noseband (without extra knots)
hi Autumn, no, it is no gentler, and I find that riding with it is harsher than plain halter, but just for leading your horse around it is ok.
Very cool thanks for idea
Do you have any recommendations on how to create the "fringe" look when creating paracord tack?
Hi Sierra, I'm not really a fringe girl, so no I don't really, but if you have a look around Pinterest you will see quite a lot of fringe tack just adds in short pieces of paracord to their weave with a cow hitch/larks head knot, and I have also seen some with an extra granny knot on top of the initial knot to prevent it coming undone. Can you make a video on “how to make a paracord wither strap”?
How many millimeters thickness is 550 paracord?
How do you make a browband in the same style as this nose band but so it can attach to the bridle? X
g'day phoebe, you can do it just like in this video:ua-cam.com/video/b2py9ZdSjCU/v-deo.html. but use bigger cord and no beads. all the best with it.
Thanks!
Do you have a video on how to make the bridle itself? Thank you.
hi greg, if you click 'show more' under this video there is a link to the video of how to make the halter itself - no bridle videos though.
Thank you!
If you dont have a long enough piece, would it look choppy if you started another piece?
you could probably get away with it if you could work it so the join was at the back, but make sure it is smooth and doesn't rub your horse's nose.
More nosebands 😂😍😜
just added a new noseband just for you! ua-cam.com/video/snm7fFeX0J8/v-deo.html
What size cord did you use for the actual halter, or did you buy the halter?
+Adam Jeske hi adam, there is a link under this video to my other video on how to make the actual halter. i used 6mm halter rope, sometimes called equestrian or yachting rope depending what country you are from. cheers mate.
I'm making a nose band for my service dog in training I'm making her a coustom head halter because she is a very large puppy
Cool! is a service dog like a guide dog for the blind? or a Police Service dog?

Oh thanks 😘😘
It's just paracord
What size paracord do you use for the halter part??? Not the nose band braid part.
+Sarah Swan Hi Sarah, the halter is not made from paracord, it is made from horse halter rope. there is a link under this video to my video of how to make the halter. hope this helps. :)
do you know of any books with instructions to do all kinds of paracord tack
sorry, i don't. maybe do a google search. :)
Hi Shayleigh, i have just spotted a book with paracord tack, here is the link. hope this helps. amzn.to/29V4aEr
She said it was simple
Horse_lover12 ha ha I know right!!
Do you a thinner cord for the noseband than for the actual halter?
hi laura, yes, i used 550 paracord for the noseband braid, and halter rope for the actual halter.
how many inches is the noseband?
Hi. What is the rope you use to make the halter?
hi, there are a few different places you can buy halter rope, i have put the links on my website; www.peacedonkeys.com/product-links-rope/

U have to measure him
Hey nice video! But please don't tether your horses/donkeys wir a rope halter! When the panik and the pull on it it hurts them very very bad in the neck. Please think about it. Lots of love 💖
Where do you buy your paracord
sorry, didn't see your question. you can buy from cams cords in Australia, or elsewhere from here: amzn.to/29X4JyF
Its much easier to use a small bbq lighter to melt the ends. And you can use the sides of your scissor blades to smooth the melted end. I buy my cord from Cams Cord. Make sure you buy US made cord as its much nicer to work with than cheap stuff made in China.
Do you sell these?
