Not to nikpik but the retro module didn't "drive" the capsule. All three modules stayed connected the full duration of the flight. When preparing for reentry, the equipment module was jettisoned, exposing the retrograde module. The retro engines fired to slow the assembly down enough for gravity to take over and facilitate reentry. The front section of the "black" capsule was ejected to expose the parachute package for deployment.
Originally issued in 1964 or so, it represents a training version, not the actual flight vehicle. A nice kit, however and people who know nothing about Project Gemini can learn a lot
