Amplifier Keying Line Explained - DX Engineering

Explanation of why HF Amplifiers need a PTT keying cable from the transceiver. Modern amp relays operate at low voltage so a simple keying cable is typically used. Interface or buffer relays are usually only needed for old amps with high voltage keying relays.

Hi. It’s important to “adjust” the TX_DELAY on the transceiver to have R.F. delayed till all relays on the chain are settle.

Hello, I could use some help.
I have a Kenwood 590 and an ACOM 700S amp.
I need the correct control cable that will key my amp. I'm guessing I can make one. The ACOM amp has an RCA input that says KEY. What connector do I need on the other end to connect to my Kenwood 590? Thank you much.
