  • So you’ve got an adventure bike like for example KTM Adventure 790R, using air tubes for lower pressure, and you’re wondering whether the Rabaconda tire changer is the right tool for you?
Instead of telling you that it is, we’re going to show you.
In the video below, our co-founder Jakob Saks is changing a tubed KTM Adventure 790R tire with our Street Bike Tire Changer, and as you can see, the job’s done in no time.
Going to give it a go? Here are some useful tips for using Rabaconda on your own:
    - Remove the air from the wheel
    - Use the wheel support under the tire and rim
    - Use the adapter to center the wheel
    - Adjust the bead breaker height and make sure it doesn’t touch the rim to prevent scratching
    - Whether it’s rim lock or air tube, insert the ratchet right after the valve or the rim lock
    - Use a strap to stop the wheel from moving and protect the spokes
    - Use bead grease - it’s always better for smoother tire removal and mounting
    - Pop the tire off with the ratchet system
    - When mounting a new tire, put a little bit of air in the tube so it holds form - this will make it easier

I just did my 790 adv. tires with it. Works like a breeze. The lube helps a lot I think. The youtube videos were reference 3 times during the first ( front) tire change. Did not need to watch again for the rear. Tires changed, Battlax AX41. Just get the bead in the drop center.
Me owning a Machine shop/ fab shop for aerospace companies here in Los Angeles it is refreshing to see such a well designed and built kit. To many maker have China make their stuff and it's all junk.

    Very nice Demo.
I noticed that during removal you only put bead grease on the tool head, is that just for this soft tire?
Also, does it help to loosen (not remove) the valve nut first?
Are there any plans to expand this tools use (or the mini tool) into Golf Cart Tires? At 205/50 x 10, they are a real Pain!!

Best to use soap water spray for mounting actually and bead grease only for mounting. Yes, need to remove valve nut first not to damage it. We’re thinking about the golf cart solution

Me and my friend just bought two of these street tyre changer a week ago. While waiting for delivery, any chance you can demonstrate a front wheel tyre change with TPMS module in it with a hard carcus tyre like Motoz? I have 890 adv R with 21 front on Motoz Rallz tubeless with TPMS. Keen to know the tips for avoid damaging the module.

I was just defeated by a Tenere 700 front tire with tube, Mitas E07, very stiff tire with very deep beads. I could not get tire into the drop centre to gain room because the bead is so deep, it is pretty well in there already. The tire is so stiff that the iron puts pressure on the duck head to the rim, I could not move the duck head even with bead grease and soap water. I have done my GS tires and tires on an old Kawasaki Voyager(15” wheel ) with it, I love the machine. Can you do a video with this Tenere/tire combination please.

The KTM and Tenere rims have the same dimensions, and the technique is the same regardless of whether it is a Mitas or not. So I don’t really have any additional suggestions other than getting as much of the tire into the drop center as possible and using lube, which you already did. Warming up tires before is also a good tip. Hope it helps!

Thank you for this video. Is this system suitable for KTM 690 ENDURO R tires?

If you are not using bib mousse foam inserts in your tires, yes. Mounting bib mousses with a duck head mounting system is impossible. You cannot get the tire into the drop center from the other side, as the mousse “inflates” the tire. There is simply no room to operate the duck head. Same as you cannot use an industrial tire machine to change tires with bib mousses.

@@Rabaconda Thank you for all these details but I plan to stay in an inner tube. A final point, is it recommended to regularly disassemble and reassemble a tire. I plan to ride a road tire every day and fit an off-road tire once a month for off-road use.

Gotcha. Some of our customers do racing, changing between road and track tires daily without a problem.

Where is the mini tire changer?

The Street gave us soooooo much extra work, that we simply have not had time to take Mini to serial manufacturing. We still hope early 2023 should be the time
