💪🏾 sega went all out and made games on this system high definition as possible they knew that the fact that this will be last console idk how people talk shit about this system for most people like myself is still underrated
@@zm_assmcgee8404 It may be the most underrated system of all time! I think I'd actually put it there really, especially considering it was Sega's last console. There was plenty of hype building up, especially with their 9.9.99 campaign, but rarely did systems actually live up to the hype, and then exceed it in my opinion. The Dreamcast for its time was really ahead of its time by a good 7 or 8 years. I think that highly of its sound, graphics, and gameplay capabilities
I remember when I got this day one. I wasn’t a huge basketball game fan since the only ones I had played at the time were NBA Jam (good but not realistic and was not deep), and Super Slam Dunk (pretty bad) but I heard great things about the first one was good and wanted a sports game so I picked this up. It was awesome.
For those saying this is "crap". Think twice. Show respect. Cause without nba 2k or nba 2k1...we will never have nba 2k14. Just saying. And it is not too bad considering how old this gameplay is.
diarraleone They were. This game was really good for its time. Obviously compared to the games we have today, it's nothing. But back then it was amazing.
This game also had an incredible attention to detail that none of the later games had. For instance zoom in closely on Allen Iverson's middle fingers and he is wearing finger bands that crystal clear have #3 on them. Reggie Miller had his trademark armband, Tyrone Hill has his fingers taped up, Scottie Pippen has a "PIP" elbow pad. You never saw that type of stuff before and you actually don't see those little details in any of the current games! The facial expressions in these games were really groundbreaking as well though NBA Courtside 2 for N64 also featured amazing facial likenesses with moving features. There is a lot about these games to appriciate
@Joey Ford WOW the fact that this system was a fail that killed off sega in consoles is not trolling fuck head or are you to stupid to notices the deadcast was a failure of a system
@Joey Ford No one is trolling here fuck head When you have a company like EA not caring to release there games on your system.. i CALL THAT A FAIL fuck turd
Im sure people who didnt experience NB2K (the very first NBA2K game, which is for dc only) at its release could never imagine how it felt like to play the game at that time. It was such a leap forwards, not only the phenomenal graphics, but also the fantastic gameplay. NBA2K1 was obviously improved and also a bombastic experience, especially with the newly added online mode.
Yeah back when I rented this game as a kid, the graphics were so amazing to me and I thought it was real life lol. It was so crazy to have the legends in the game too like Dr j, bird etc, a street ball mode and just all around more realistic gameplay than what live was doing at the time. I was a 2k fan ever since.
I remember when I got my dreamcast back in 2001. Man I had all the 2k games. Basketball, football and hockey. That was the best system that came out. Plus the first one that went online. I had the limited edition black one. That was gaming back then because you had friends over your house instead of talking on a headset.
Man I was born in the early 2000s but my uncle gave me his Dreamcast as a hand me down and I grew up playing 2K1, Virtua Tennis, and Soul Calibur like all the time. I actually still have the Dreamcast but I just don’t play with it anymore. Memories
That spin move with Iverson or Kobe was such a cheese. You can score 70 with 4 minute quarters with just that move lol. Loved this game on Dreamcast. Classic indeed.
Riley N. Somebody needs to go back and watch shaq hit them when it counted in the 3pt run including 9 for 9 in gm4 of the western conference finals in 2000.
I remember going to Epcot at Disneyworld and they had a Sega centre where you could play dreamcast genesis games.. the first time I saw NBA 2k as a kid I pretty much soiled myself at the graphics ;)
It feels like yesterday that I got this and the keyboard for Christmas 2000 and we were up all night playing online console basketball for the first time ever, so fun! The one thing I really miss about these old games is that you could swing your elbows when you came down with a rebound and could literally clear people to the ground without getting a foul called lol. NBA 2K2 was also awesome, the Dreamcast games were so great. Miles ahead of basketball games before it. The series lost its way for quite a while on Xbox/PS2 but it became really good again with NBA 2K11.
man the first few 2ks had the best immersive and heartfelt intros. the devs/editors really wanted the gamer to experience the NBA rather than just a video game in of itself. fast foward 20 years and they have gotten rid of any sort of cinematic intros/highlight reels on the game start up :/ the early 2ks were art in its purest and simplest form. no fancy gimmicks, pay to win/play to earn, just a homey, feel-good basketball video game type vibe. start up 2k3 and you'll see what im talking about. the presentation is great and makes you feel like you're at ESPN or somethin
this is a game that I'm fall in love on first sight. 2K put some serious amount of new stuff in virtual basketball games. first you notice, back then, is signature moves/dunks for players depending what position they are play. for example centers have power hammer slams, but lower guys have better agility and can pull reverse, 360', windmills etc. very satisfying if you ask me. also they introduce signature tattoos, shoes and more. thank you 2k
