Terri Lyne Carrington | Live at North Sea Jazz 2023

Drummer Terri Lyne Carrington is at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2023 on stage with her own band and guest musicians like saxophonist Tineke Postma and bassist Esperanza Spalding. We see the songs 'Bar Celta' and 'If That’s True' and an interview with Terri Lyne Carrington about her project ""Jazz Without Patriarchy"" for which she only plays songs by female composers.
Drummer Terri Lyne Carrington has performed at the festival six times, including three times with her own band. She has worked with such giants as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Stan Getz. And for forty years Carrington has been “helping trumpet the joy of jazz to new generations and new audiences,” according to CNN. She has also emerged as an advocate for women's and transgender rights in music and is the founder and artistic director of the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. Last year Carrington released her latest album New Standards Vol. 1. It stemmed from the book New Standards: 101 Lead Sheets By Women Composers which she curated. The book contains compositions by different generations of women musicians.
