Any channels right now are hot. Look for bait fish and fish around them. May have to put the time in and wait until they turn on but any channels......

Hey there. Like your videos on saugeye fishing and am interested in doing some fall jerkbait fishing this year.
Want to get started by getting me a set up rod ready to go now.
Could you give your opinion on a good set up you are having success with and the line you use ?

Hello. I have a few various different setups I use depending on the lure. For a 1/4oz swim bait, larger crank bait, or 1/4oz blade bait, I like using a 7ft medium fast action baitcaster Lews or Duckett rod and an Abu Garcia Revo X loaded with 20lb Venom braid tipped with 6-8ft of 8-10lb fluorocarbon leader. For the smaller swim baits, smaller blade baits, and suspending jerk baits, I use a 6ft to 6ft6in medium action spinning Diawa or Shimano rod, any choice spinning reel (I prefer Diawa) and the same line setup.

      Thanks for your help.
Look forward to some new videos coming out this fall from you.
Tight lines and God's grace be with you.

Tuning a jerkbait?? How is that done exactly?

Using sticky sided lead strips (I get storm brand from Amazon) and placing them one or half at a time on the bottom of the jerk bait until it perfectly suspends (they usually come slightly floating from the factory). If you have one that sinks, you may be out of luck unless you are using a snap at the nose and you can take that off to make it suspend.
