Another problem can be the dual cpu setup, games have a hard time with that as they don't exactly understand the 2 cpus. I'm not explaining it well but there are videos that do. Also, Vista Business is a fantastic OS. Great video.
Thanks! Yes back in this era games weren’t generally designed to make use of more than a single core, so all that processing power didn’t really translate to gains in game performance.
Re:X-Fi kit, Creative has a Dell-specific model of this card, and there is a specialty cable that brings the audio from it up to the front panel so the headphone ports still work as expected. That would free up your X-Fi Fatal1ty set for a nice whitebox build that I don't doubt you have planned!
I pulled the trigger on a pair of Xeon X3363s last night. While they aren't specifically mentioned on the Dell site, they look like they have the same pin layout and fit well within the TDP of the 5060s I originally had in there (it currently rocks a pair of 5160s). I will report back if it works or not! I've got a Radeon HD 7850 2GB in there right now. I will eventually replace that with a 4k-supporting GPU. I am not sure how to go about the HDD to SSD upgrade as the 4 SATA connectors seem to be occupied, and removing any of them causes it to fail POST. Not sure if I can do a pci-based SSD in this. Mine has 4x4GB ECC RAM and is running Windows 8.1. The final upgrade I'll want to do is to add a USB 3 controller to the front or back. Haven't decided on anything.
Not sure about fallout but Crysis adds a lot of bling in dx10 mode so it's not unreasonable for it to run slower. :) I'll never get over just how insane that game is tbf. Almost 15 Years old and it's still mostly holding up in the fidelity department.
@@TechMadeEasyUK Happy to hear I'm not alone. Saw the first demo of it and thought "this is a DEmaster". I were stupid enough to buy it later on, just in case, and I'm sad to admit that the only way it amazed me is just how much they borked it.

Weird, was my comment deleted as spam? Just wanted to point out that PCIe should always be backwards compatible and those USB controllers should still work, they'll just lack the bandwidth to perform at the max theoretical speed. I have a VIA VL805 based USB 3.0 card in my P35 chipset PCIe 1.1 machine.
.... For some reason your sound is only coming thru on the Right Channel during your commentary, not during the Montage music though... I was screwing with all my sound & eq settings trying to figure out the issue, but the system notifications were fine.. Then the Montage started LOL
@@TechMadeEasyUK I didnt think of that, yes looking back that prob was the issue as they were kind of unpredicatable. Would work well for a week then wouldnt even turn on for a week
Hmm strange that you stated the onboard NIC is 100mbit only. I have 2 of these machines and they both have a Broadcom Gigabit controller. A Broadcom 57xx looking at device manager. Wonder if something else on your network may have caused it to negotiate at a slower speed?
@@TechMadeEasyUK I feel that, a lot of it is the fact that it came with 2 dead sticks of ram, and was marketed to me as a "beast gaming pc" 😅 and I had NO IDEA it was supposed to have a speaker built in 🥶😭😂
As a 90s kid this is the PC I would have wanted as a kid
I would have loved it when it was new too, it must have cost thousands in this configuration!

Ooh that's interesting, I'll have to have a look

Completely agree. It didn't need a remaster. It's still impressive as is

Great video, enjoying your content, a trip down memory lane :)
I have one of these I am getting ready to take to the pc recycling center tomorrow. I just wanted some more nostalgia of when it was running.
Nooooooooo, don't scrap it. See if someone else wants it.

@@Bane_Diesel that's a beast of a Plex server. Well, sounds like it's time for it to go to the great data centre in the sky
I have one of these. Wanted to use as a file server, until I measured power use. 150W idle with no disks.
It keeps my office warm in the winter 😂
What a beast of a computer from 15 years ago
I love it, it’s a beast
A most enjoyable video; thanks!!!
Thanks!

Stereo: was invented years ago
This guy: decides to use Mono sound
Or; I’m human and made a mistake

Yeah chalk that one up to poor editing!
@@TechMadeEasyUK Didn't mean to call you out, just a heads up; sorry
@@MotownBatman I’m not that concerned. This remains a hobby for me so the odd mistake doesn’t bother me and I don’t feel called out at all
Nice video.
2 of mine i had back in in the day both died oddly, PSU issues and if I remember they required specific PSU's not generic ATX
These machines were produced towards the end of the capacitor plague, so not entirely surprising (though I’m sure frustrating at the time!)

hello right channel
almost thought my headset broke ;)

Nope, just a simple mistake on my part
very nice build and video! tho i think it's very limited by vista :(
Thanks! I've had some more fun playing with it with Windows 10. That video is coming soon
my right ear enjoyed the video
My bad!
@@TechMadeEasyUK you can fix it without having to reupload or loosing the viewcount
@@tradito ooh, please advise, that would be really handy
@@TechMadeEasyUK I believe youtube let's you replace only the soundtrack, so you can protect yourself from copyright strikes.
Or at least it used to.
@tradito even so that would require me to remaster the entire audio tracks, not really practicable
I always wondered what would happen if you maxed one of thee
Now you know!
Does this have standard form factor parts? Would it be possible to build in that awesome case?
It’s a BTX case, a short lived alternative to ATX focussed on airflow. An ATX motherboard won’t fit
Not to bash, but the audio is kinda odd being mostly on the right speaker.
Yep, made a mistake during editing
Have you added windows 10? Yet
Coming the end of this month
It's not bad that I'm watching this cus I have the very same PC, and it's so bad I wanna break it, right..? Lmao
I don’t know man, I’ve got kind of a soft spot for mine

Might have been a beast gaming PC…. In 2007 😁
Its possible run windows 11?
As I understand it no because of the system requirements
Yes you can if you bypass all the TPM and other requirements
