Septic Tank Smelled Like Fabuloso

  • Pretty simple locate and pump out on a septic tank that was backing up. Upon opening the lid I caught a big whiff of Fabuloso. The large quantities of household cleaner making their way into the septic tank can wreak havoc on the natural bacteria and enzymes responsible for breaking down organic matter.

someone hasnt scene the chinese robots or even better yet, the tesla robot. if they can build cars in a factory, fold laundry, do chores what is stopping them for grabbing a hose, and jamming it into a hole up and down until all the "fluids" are gone? better yet , why wouldnt you pay an AI robot to clean it for 10 bucks rather then a human that up charges you because he knows "well you dont wanna do it" or "most people dont wanna do this job so i can price gouge them" is excatly why AI robots will take over most human jobs. Can people like to complain and up charge for certain things specifically this case in this conversation lol.

Wells too! My best friend had a water delivery service and was on a farm to fill up a large in ground water tank. It collapsed, and he fell in. It was winter time, and the elderly owner was nowhere around where he was. He was trapped in freezing cold water up to his chest for 20 minutes with no way to get out. He finally got a piece of sheet metal that fell in and sunk to the bottom and somehow bent it and used it as footing to climb out. He crawled to his truck and passed out. The home owner finally went to check on him to see why it was taking so long. He was in the hospital for several days with severe hypothermia. I'm so thankful he survived he's a great guy and a dam good friend.

Where I live septic pumping companies are getting strict on adding risers. If you call to have your septic tank pumped and there are no risers, they will not pump it until you dig up the lids. They will locate them for you, but not dig them up. Be amazed how many people refuse to install risers after the pumping. When people go house shopping, I sometimes do home inspections and the one thing I tell the client is if there is a septic tank with no risers, the septic system is more than likely not in good shape and needs to be inspected. Why all because of a refused $300 dollar riser install (cheaper if you do it yourself) and/or not digging their lids up for the pumpers the septic never gets pumped. Risers may not look pretty but they add great value to your house.

If septic tanks need routine maintenance access, why bury the lid(s)? That never made sense to me.

There should have been records on the septic system inspection (done usually at home sale/purchase) which would have also listed its location and system should be cleaned /drained regularly over the years

    • @pumptruck3745

I think filters are over rated and a hassle. Good T and a pumping schedule has always been enough, at least for pipe and stone drainage

The reason all the risers are still primarily buried is b/c cost & that in our State TCEQ is not clear on exactly how to vent these tanks. For some insane reason my OSSF County Rep thinks the aeration-pressure is to vent into the home plumbing after passing by the anaerobic-digester(trash-tank). It's insane b/c the trash tanks have the cap on the T-fitting, or it's sealed, or they use a long-turn elbow on the design plan illustrations b/c the air is to be blocked by the water-table in the trash-tank. Leaving the risers loose has somehow been the adopted practice of our IMO-failed-installers.
There was a Clearstream put in on my street with a 10-inch riser on the trash tank that had no-seals, the black-water smell was awful & large-green flies were trying to dig into the soil to reach the tasty water. Clearstream should have the vent in their instructions to that they wouldn't be risking indoor-air quality so bad that it might turn your baby blue-skinned.
