- Customer called because he was noticing a gurgling noise whenever he flushed. This septic tank was installed sometime around 1950. The customer didn't know where the tank was located and had actually been running over it with heavy equipment.

I like how the homeowner was nice enough to leave skid marks in there as a way to guide the transmitter.
i saw that too. so gross.
LMAO!! Good One!!
My Toilet has this Yellow Mold shit growing in it. ive put every sort of cleaner i can think of in it, and nothing touches it. scrubbed the absolute hell out of it, nothing works. it was like this when i moved in here a year and a half ago, im thinking of just buying a new Toilet and having it installed
@@Glitch-Gremlin try bar keepers friend scouring powder like comet worked for us
@@Glitch-Gremlin Have you tried CLR? that's exactly what its made for, or as the other commenter said Bar keepers friend.
Maybe the homeowner could have cleaned up those skid marks before you filmed their toilet.
Lol I asked him if it was ok to film. He said go ahead 🫣💩
@@PoorPumperSociety Hehe it's just amusing to see. I love your videos.
I said the same thing to myself but then realized we would be seeing everything lol
i was saying the same thing laughing my butt off and still am skid marks in the toilet not sure if anyone else has seen it Sh.. Spray on the wall next to the toilet but i do give the older guy a thumbs up for a good Aim as there was not any pee stains at the base of the Toilet 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Skid marks used as a lubricant, absolutely brilliant
Gotta love the racing stripes in the toilet. Classic!
Good One!! LMAO!!
Skid marks used as a lubricant, absolutely brilliant
Edit that shit out bruh . Literally
"it was really chunky I was just adding a little water to blend it together"... spoken like a master chef at a Michelin 5-star kitchen!
I'm not sure why I'm watching septic tank cleaning videos but my recommendations are getting weird...I'm subscribing bc I found it oddly satisfying

You are such a polite young man. Your parents much be so proud of you. Keep up the great work.
Solo band here, one man team in N Ca. Service plumber. This video was way above average, not a bunch of babbling, just great solid content! Thank you sir!
Your dedication and professionalism will get you far.
The grass is greener around there
I’m not sure how I ended up here but I can’t look away 😂.
I like seeing a pro at work.
I appreciate it. Still learning everyday
Glad you show the diagrams of the different style tanks! Cheers from Wisconsin.
The stain on the porcelain was 👌
That was gross 🤢
My guy those beepers are freaking amazing...I've used several different types of locators and this is absolutely the best.
1:03 Ughh. . . that's like eating at a buffet with everything stuck to your teeth then going directly to see your dentist.
Obviously not cleaned in 20 or 30 years. Black soil around the lid means trouble. The proto-tek won't work if the lines are jammed. Never tried the crust buster but looks like it works well. Gotta tell owners to pump every 2 years and don't flush wipes, rubbers (unlikely at their age), cigarette butts, dental floss or tampons (also unlikely). Just crap and single ply paper work the best. Retired with 25 years pumping tanks in Connecticut. I've seen it all. Nice job guys!
That transmitter is cool af. I remember when i was kid me and my stepdad out with metal rods trying to find the septic tank at our new house. That gizmo would have been nice and saved a ton of time.
Put a tombstone next to the tank that says lid right here that would save you money
Good job and a nasty one. Can't believe people flush wipes and floss.
Took my washing machine, shower and laundry sink off the septic and run the grey water elsewhere after a 5 year old system was failing. Installer never put a filter on the outlet side of the tank so I added that too. Nothing like hanging upside down with your drill strapped to your wrist in a septic tank.
That's not good You want all that extra water carries enzymes in it for example laundry soap has enzymes and organic material in it that help break down the solids You're not doing your septic system a favor that's for sure That's a big no-no also want warm water during the winter time to encourage breakdown....
In my area in Georgia it’s very common to drain gray water separate.
Remember when the town I grew up in decided to put sewers in. Dad and I did a bunch of the hookups for the people we knew or older folks that could not afford a contractor to come in and do it. The guy from the city would sign them off without us even putting a length of pipe in the ditch. On mine I did not even know where the tank was to back fill it with sand like it said had to be done
I like that you raised the lid before you flushed it!!
I like when someone absolutely knows what they are doing......Great video
Now I personally wittness how to literally flush 30 bucks down the drain. LOL
Dude, thank you for what you do!
0:58 those skid marks look authentic!!
why am I watching this?😆... watched to the end... you deserve a medal for what you do sir!👍🏅
Hello folks call me Bear, I just came across your video on UA-cam,. I ran a pump truck when I was a young man, it was a shifty job, however I made good money,.I ran an old double pumper, did I mention I was in Hereford Texas at the time. I seen some strange shit then, a lot of the things I came across were pits dug in the ground and leaching. This was back in the early 70's when I was very young.
What is leaching?
Man the fact that your ol lady is willing to go to work with you and smell that to help you film is awsome. That's a down chick😂
Homeowner just leaving skid marks in the bowl. My wife would of had a meltdown
Great job on fixing this for him..
dude u lucked out with finding the lid so quicky...... what a PITA!!! that lil locator worked out great wish I would have known about those would have saved soooooooooo many hours of digging 🤬
“…..what the hell is that?!” He knows exactly what it is. People need to stop flushing wipes.
I have a house built in the 50's and I wish they had used a concrete tank, for some reason around here they all seemed to use steel tanks instead. Discovered during the first pumping that the previous home owner had made his own lid out of pressure treated boards and the edge of the tank was partially caved in, leaving the boards sitting at a 15 degree angle. I'm currently scheduled to have the same company that pumped it out replace the tank. Oddly enough, everything still seems to flow well so I'm just hoping now that the leach/drain field is still functional and the previous home owner didn't do something stupid like pipe it into the storm drain instead.
I see the transmitter has a lug to attach a line. That would work for what we need to do which is trace a line to the tank. Feed it down maybe 5 feet at a time and locate where the pipe is. And even if you lose it $34 is a lot less than tearing up the entire yard.
I bought my house 8 years ago. The septic system reportedly originally served the houses on either side of me. I live alone so I don't strain the system much, but wonder where exactly my tank is at. I have a general idea because of a vent in the line from the neighbors house on one side. My ground is rock hard so metal rods would not work. Love the idea of a flushable transmitter!
Nice to see those hose caps used you were sent by the company 🎉
Definitely come in handy
Neat tool. We have a Jet Aerobic system (4 stage) so.... there's access/service at the surface for our technician. My worst issues have been roots blocking water flow between stages... and I can pull/cut them out if I need to.
You have a great friendly attitude.
my septic system is from the 70s. I have much larger lid. ive pumped it twice in 23 years. seems to be fine. i dont put grease, dental floss or food down my drains. i do need to see how far out my leach lines are as I need to run a water line to lower property.
Just bought a house that for the past 16 years, never had its septic pumped nor did the owner know exactly where it was. Lucky enough, got a company that found and pumped. Everything looked good and solid and not a single piece of toilet paper to be found... guess they werent lying when they said they didnt flush it
Those rigid locators are awesome
For digging deep, narrow holes, a shop vac works great for removing the dirt. Just loosen it up and suck it out.
good honest work. meeting a customer need. a formula for success.
great work!!!
Good video dude! Excellent customer service too! Little things like that separate you from the rest…big time
Got to make lots of people happy. You have an honorable job. So many would look down at you until their toilet backs up into their house stinking up the place, LOL
People are usually very happy when we show up 🦸🏾💩
@@PoorPumperSociety I don't look down on any job. Someone has to do it and everyone needs a paycheck.
We've lived in our house for fourteen years. We never knew where the old septic tank was (we are on city sewer now). We could have used that!! But this year we had a drought, and the septic tank and field lines all became clearly visible as dead spots in the grass.
But the transmitter would have just gone down the city sewers not your old septic tank.
@@kleinbiker1obviously… they were implying they could have used that BEFORE they went on city sewer.
Im watching this while eating dinner... Great video!
Pretty nice the transmitter got you right at the lid.
we'll need a couple of these for out here. we still have test holes from trying to find the cap. hope our guys think of that.
Fascinating! Just glad you don’t have “smell-o-vision”
That’s a damn good idea how to mix that up.🤙
I had an old home made septic tank and drain field on my property. The drain pipe was terra-cotta. The tank was block with a plywood floor. Obvious it never was inspected. I eventually put in a new system up to code.
Those old, homemade septic tanks are very interesting and believe it or not are usually grandfathered in as long as they are still working properly. Terra cotta piping were used on factory made septics back then, too. Do you know what year your septic was built?
@@user-lt5bp3ww3n I moved on the property back in 1978. It was old then. I think made in the sixties. It was working properly but had to upgrade when I upgraded my home. I had to put in an elevated leach field with a lift station. The new tank is concrete. Very expensive back 23 years ago when it was installed. Orange Country Fla has very strict building codes.
lifting the seat to drop the indicator lol had me cracking up
Those sondes are a pretty good deal. The Rigid sonde was about $350 last time I checked.
Well that's a snappy little tune ya got playing.
Good video. Most folks don't know how all this shit happens!
I know how shit happens LOL
Can you post a link to the wearable camera that you are using? It has great video quality and I would like to check it out.
👍 Please be careful you and your wife or girlfriend should wear a mask. I was working unclogging an out fall pipe from the wastewater plant and got a serious splash that just barely got past my closed mouth. WORST 12 days of my life, had to take 2 heavy duty antibiotics to stop the 12 day none stop diarrhea. Sorry for long comment please be careful.
Good job. Very professional.
LOL Skid Marks in the toilet 💩🎿
Bad ass video - thank you!!
My brother inherited our grand parents old house. It was built in 1976, septic never pumped.
He installed a new leach field. Then went to connect to the septic tank after it was pumped. The whole corner of the concrete tank broke off. So new tank it was too.
If there was sewage that was 40 years old, I wonder if it just disintegrated on it's own?
I use the same transmitter and locator. Only problem I have encountered to date using the transmitter was when it got caught on an obstruction in pipe and broke fishing line trying to pull it back. I was able to recover the transmitter, but used up alot of its battery in the process. Only complaint is the battery life of transmitter and that batteries cannot be replaced.
interesting video thanks for sharing and have a great day
👍👍 GREAT JOB!
I didn't even know it was actually ever code for a septic tank to be that close to a home.
Probably a old house. I doubt this would be allowed in anything built in the last 40 years.
It says 1950 right in the video title my dude.
They didn't have codes and regulations then. It was allowed to be homemade, out of timbers, railroad ties, old automobiles(believe it or not) an old oil tanks, all of which were all very common. LOL
Cool space modulator!
Classic Skidder
Did you ever wind up finding your prototech indicator?
never mind you just answered my question nice work
I use ammonium nitrate flushed down with diesel fuel to find my septic tank. Cleans the tank out too.
Nice video. Am I the only one wondering if he got his flushable transmitter back? Those things aren't cheap.
$34 isn’t cheap?
@@xXIllGetYouXx Likely the pumpout cost north of $400, so $34 will just be added to the charge. Seems like a riser would be a good idea.
like your new helper
Ever run into one that has no opening in the concrete lid to drain it? My parents doesn't and it has never been cleaned out either. They have lived there over 45 years now. It is HUGE and DEEP.
The entire lid has to be exposed to open. Then hopefully swap it out for a lid with openings and riser.
Property a slab lid. Those are pretty common in ol tanks an can be opened. He has a few videos I have seen with the old concrete slab lids.
All natural organic smoothies. Freshly prepared daily.😮😂
My neighbor sold his home last year. He had been in the home since 1979 (42 years) and never had the septic tank pumped out. He was very lucky as it still works. I was telling a guy I work with that we had our tank pumped (last fall) he told me he didn't know that it was supposed to be pumped out, he was in his property since 1991 (30 years). He promptly had it pumped out.
Totally off the wall subject matter for me, but I totally love these videos!
0:59 Jesus, they didn't even brushed their toilet before letting you in.
Yes that was gross. And of course it was a man, no female would ever allow that mess to be filmed
I just discovered your channel it popped up randomly on my feed but I sure am glad to be able to watch and learn as well as appreciate the knowledge. Were you able to find the transmitter afterwards? Or in a case like this would it count as a consumable if they are cheap in price to replace in case you can't find it?
Very cool gadget
The home owner didn't clean the streaks before you came out?😬😳💩
It was a pretty sigma move on his part
Skid marks
I never understood why a septic tank would be completely buried. Maybe it saves a few bucks to not install risers and hatches up to ground level. I have to pump my tank about every 3 years to keep it happy. I'd hate to have to dig every time it's pumped.
I'm a plumber over in California and I gotta say I get a lot of enjoyment out of your videos I've even thought of maybe getting into it one day to be able to move out somewhere that way
Would you have found the transmitter if you had positioned the Scout on the hose while pumping?
Nice job!
Do all of the homeowners want to get that close and personal with their tank when you open it.?
Man my septic tank is 1850, think I need one of these tools!
If it's an actual septic "tank",it's probably a "crock tank". Terra Cotta tank. It could just be a cess pool which is much more likely. They didn't really even have indoor plumbing untill the early 1900s though,so......I'm not sure if a few people actually had it in 1850 or if there was actually indoor plumbing but it must be a really big an elaborate old home then.
I love the full video. I like all your shorts but there just to short 😆
I was interested in the tracing unit I'm kind of surprised that you didn't attach like a balloon to the end so it float at the top of the effluent and then you could recover it. I am looking into a locating system and just looking at different uses it can be used for.
The device is likely already buoyant because it is sealed inside of the case.
@@raiden72 yes it floats in water, you can see it at the begining when flushing it. But its likely not strong enough to get through that top layer.
Skid mark homeowner was a helicopter over you proud of his skids😂
Well done
I could definitely use one of those.
What I don't understand is how could you locator the transmitter to be exactly under the lid? How can you control where it ends up after you flush it? It could have been anywhere in the system, so why is it settling at the lid?
On most systems here the baffle is directly under the lid, so theoretically when I flush the transmitter it should land in the baffle right under the lid most times
I come from a long line of plumbers...My father had a saying about all the crap he had dealth with....."Lady it may be your crap....but its my bread and butter " ....
When I had my system worked on I made a sketch with measurements including trap door locatiin and hung it on the wall in my shop....
never seen a small lid. is that what they did in the 50's? mine was put in in the 70's and has two square lids like 18 x 18 at least maybe 24x24. curious
When there that close give them a splash. Lol
