I am a huge Auburn fan. But, I would like to take this time and point out the true professionalism of the alabama announcers. They did not throw a fit about the final play they simple called it. Hats off to them. Oh....... and WAR DAMN EAGLE.

I know most UA fans love Eli Gold - and if there is a resume that corresponds to the Bama fan base, it’d be a play by play guy who is also the voice of NASCAR - but I always thought a program of their stature could do much better. I know his school was on the losing end, but it was the losing end of one of the craziest endings in sports history and Eli called it like it was Arkansas getting a 2nd quarter first down. It took 2 full minutes before his color guy (Phil Savage), not Gold, mentioned how nuts the whole thing was. If this happened against Georgia, you can bet you’d be able to hear Scott Howard vomiting on the microphone and Eric Zeier trashing the booth. Instead it was just no emotion whatsoever.

A late hit, like when Brandon Greene belly-splashed Ryan Smith an hour after the Cade Foster block? That kinda late hit? They definitely should have flagged Auburn for Mason's emphatic TD spike. A 15-yard penalty on the kickoff would have allowed FSU to score more quickly and thus, allowed Auburn more time to score. I suppose when you, as Updyke put it, "Felt like someone reached inside my chest and pulled my heart out", have to find things to gripe about when Auburn crushes your hopes of actually playing in the BCS Championship.

Instead, Alabama screwed themselves into the most gut-wrenching loss in program history. I had good Alabama friends that it cut so deep, they refused to talk about the game. Not a single word. Like a death in the family. Much the same emotions as Harvey Updyke said after the 2010 Iron Bowl, "If felt like someone stuck their first inside my chest and ripped my heart out." So yeah, we know 2010 hurt. And we know 2013 hurt even worse. And it was hard to imagine a loss hurting worse than that 24-0 chokejob in 2010. But even that pain was surpassed. And you know what, you guys will NEVER get over the pain of that loss. It's the ONLY Top 4 matchup in Iron Bowl history. Doesn't matter what you have done before or since. But the reality of the whole thing is it was the biggest Auburn/Alabama matchup in Iron Bowl history. And you guys failed. Your coach's decision to kick created the greatest play in College Football history. So yeah, it makes us THAT victorious. Okay?

No, Clinton-Dix's penalty was waived off. As for the 2004 LSU game, you don't even know the rule that Saban himself allowed to pass as he was on the rules committee pre-season 2004. The rule states that a defender cannot leap and land on a long snapper. That rule is STILL in force today. The lengths you will go to defend the almighty gnome, even when he wasn't bammer's coach. Hopefully, he has gotten with Phil Savage to discuss ways to defend Auburn's forward pass.
