I had the same bike brand new in 1982, I was 22 years old and I paid $2,495 for it from Smitty's Suzuki in Peoria Illinois. I had it for 8 years and it was the best bike I ever owned. Started 2nd kick cold, and 1st kick warm. Ran it at 40:1 with Bel-Ray mc-1 racing oil, and in 8 years I never had one engine problem with it. I rode it all summer on one top end, only on the weekends, and then every winter I put a new top end on it and it was a beast.
frustrating... i did a nut and bolt up 82 rm250, battled me the whole way...but at least you know what the issue is, prob better off just getting a new coil
