It's always pronounced as a word Abba, and that's how media style guides say acronyms should be written. But it's the initials of four equal people and with a reversed B it's a trademark and ABBA is the "word mark"

I just love the music from ABBA.
Hey, they have shortened the song, "Now we are old and grey" was left off and the feeling of the song changed totaly. No good.
