I just came back from a track day on my 2007 GSXR. After 5 sessions, the bike stopped starting. Looked everywhere and ended up finding this video and low and behold, my clutch lever switch was broken. A heart-felt thanks for the great content John and the team!
Thanks SO much, you set me on the right direction and more importantly, you've made a lifelong customer when or if I need parts, because you saved me from a few hundred $$$ bill to have her towed to a shop and worked on, etc.! On your Busa did you get a CHEC light on the dash and no fuel pump prime or starter relay clicking noise? I have the problem and after much research I am assuming it could be either the starter relay, side stand relay or fuel pump relay. What was your issue on your busa. Please feel free to share. Thanks.
I didn’t hear the solinoid click and the clutch switch didn’t seem to be working correctly. I took the switch of the clutch and it was looking dirty. Sprayed it with some Contact Cleaner. My test light works now when I press the switch and I can hear the solenoid. Thanks for the trouble shoot tips. You’re a Champion!
First off thank you for doing God's work ! My test light doesn't luminate when on the negative side but the fuse does on both sides ? When I did the clutch switch test my bike starts but only when the test light is touching the top prong like you stated ? Am I giving the clutch switch proper ground to start ? Should I trace down that ground on the clutch switch any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you once again.

John thanks alot man. I have an 03 GSXR R1000 and the issue with mine was the battery. My battery was dead and no good so got it switched out. Thanks for going through these steps which helped me troubleshoot other things to make sure.

I need help with my bike if possible 07 GSXR 600 I turn the key the cluster is stuck wont go to zero just turns on and stay stuck might need a new cluster...I replaced the completel lock set thank you so much for your helpful video so I turn the key cluster is stuck and i get nothing no noise no relays turning no fuel pump priming what could it be if you could help out
My 01 GSXR 1000 Will not start, I hear the fuel pump. But she will not fire up. New Plugs and filter,I spray starter fluid in intake and nothing. But every once in a while she will give a little rumble then die. Sounds like something is shutting her down. What to do. Any help is appreciated, Thank you for your time.
My 08 gsxr 1000 sat 7/8yrs after a tragic accident that my interest was lost. Now i wanna get back to riding & went to start bike to notice i need new throttle cable however my bike won't start. It turns over just no fire so we changed the tank still nthn and then thought about the injectors maybe needing cleaning however not sure due to the time it set in my basement & changed battery also! 1 option said maybe stator then another said check injectors from ur experience what u suggest or idea u may clearly have upon this issue?
My cousins 01 r600.. wont start.. he checked everything.. and is working properly.. just havent try the clutch switch yet.. would the start button be a problem also..???

I have a 2004 Gsxr 600. Its been sitting for quite some time. I replaced the battery as I knew it didnt have any power. I put some gas in the tank. The starter is kicking the engine over and wants to start but doesnt. I picked up some starting fluid, gave that a try. It will kick over and start to run but only for a second then stalls. I hear the fuel pump working everytime I turn the key and I dont think its my spark plugs as I have replaced them years ago. Can spark plugs just go bad just sitting in the engine? Im thinking I might not be getting any spark from the coils.
Hi I have a 5/02 GSXR 1000 Suzuki that has been crashed the speedo is disconnected and the loom is disconnected both are damaged I have ignition and the tail light is coming on but the bike will not turn over and the fuel pump is not turning on can you tell me if it needs the speedo instruments to be able to start. It will turn over crossing the solenoid but still won't start. Thanks for any help.
So that black and white white u did your test on on mine it stays hot all the time even if i pull the clutch handle in or out no matter what it a hot for me that mean it back correct?? Thanks for your time
I'm curious what you think would be the most likely issue between the starter or clutch switch. I have an 09 1000. Everything was working fine, but when I went to leave work at the end of the day, would not crank. After about 3 minutes, it cranked and fired right up. No issues the rest of the day, until the next morning goin to work and again at lunch.
@DarthShibby I finally found out that my clutch neutral switch was unplugged but the connectors were still touching under the protectivesleeve. Plugged it back together and haven't had a problem since.
I have power to one side of the solenoid (thick red cable) but when pressing starter switch it's not jumping from one side of the solenoid to the other terminal, the one that runs to the starter motor bench tested both solenoid and starter motor and they work just fine so what's happening? Full power on battery as well.
Howzzit going.. I'm having problems with my kill switch. And fuel pump not priming when I turn the kill switch on. Checked all the fuses Checked battery.. all the lights and everything thing else works. Just the fuel pump and secondary throttle not priming. Any info that might help would be appreciated
2003 GSXR 600 , it has been sitting for 8 years outdoors , I drained fuel. I hooked up jumper pack straight to bike cables, wanted to see if it will crank, turn the key to on, I get neutral light, head light, tail light, I hear fuel pump try tp prime, Very low (weak sound then normal). get no speed or mileage info on display,, kick stand is down, maybe some type of safety ? checked all fuses, no broken fuse, I am handy with a fluke meter maybe can give me some starting points
Thank you for the support,I got a 2005 r1000 I remove gas tank and disconnected all electric parts becouse it had 2 stock valves I didn't that put everything back together now the bike won't start it has spark fuel it turns it would not fires thanks I did crank the motor with everything unplug,,,thanks
hi I have a Gsxr 1000 k4 special edition I started in the morning to make sure all was working for the mot 3 hours later the lights came on but it would not start in fact the fuel pump you can here prime usually but its not doing that any advice would be fantastic
Hello looking for some help. Have a 07 750. It keeps blowing that fuse. Changed rectifier, stator, and battery. As soon as I hook up the battery it blows the fuse.
Hi, I own aGsr 750, 2015. It happened something similar . I start the instrumentation panel, the lights are good, right. When you hold the clutch down and press the start button should start like usually. She started after I shift in the first gear holding the clutch down and the starting button giving a strong push and releasing the clutch gently.Before that I checked the voltage on my remote alarm display, was 11.82V. The bike was in cold weather all day outside at work.
Hey Partzilla! i dropped my 09' gsxr 600 on its left side and now it wont turn over. I push started it and it runs fine but whenever i hit the ignition button i get nothing. I have tried the ignition while the bike is running and i still get nothing, no sound of the starter motor trying to turn over. What coud be the issue here?
I have low mile from o.g. owner gsxr 1000 ('06) with Zero'd out Power Commander II (still hooked up) and my ECU was flashed w FTECU for megaphone pipe early 2019. Stock air filter and stock Ti header. The bike never did this for 10months after I had ECU flashed. Problem: Intermittently only like 1/6 rides - bike will crank but NOT RUN from cold or warm.....ive waited 30 sec in between 4-5 tries and it might catch and then run no problem. Sometimes Ive cranked 10 times to point where battery gets weak so I give up...today I went home and let the bike sit at work in sun and tried again 11 hrs later. It still did not want to run and I had to crank 5-6 times and luckily it ran perfect lit off no hesitation after cycling key between tries. I cannot tell if its no fuel or no spark. Fuel pump always spins/whines....has left me stranded at work x2 times and I give up cranking it and just just hitch a ride home w coworker. Bike was damp on nighshift 2 of the 3 occasions so I was thinking moisture ingress ...... I can not replicate the problem after it runs. It does this 1/6+ rides to work...she just will not RUN while cranking not even a clue that it wants to catch and run...its all or nothing....she is cranking with no clue it wants to catch or it fires right up. NEW Iridium plugs several weeks ago to address but it is still doing it randomly!! It also did it hot after a 20 min ride in to work I accidentally stalled it at badge readers and it wouldnt restart! 91 octane fuel + new plugs only 13,000 o.g. miles....mods FTECU flash 2019, but still has old 2007 PCII ( in place but zero'd out)
Thanks for the video. I am having problems getting my K3 1000 to start. My bike had sat in the garage for a few months. It would not start, the starter was having a hard time turning. I replaced the battery, same problem. I replaced the starter, same problem. I replaced the starter relay, now all I get is the new relay buzzes. Am I missing something? What would be the next thing to check? Ant info would be great. Thank you
Take the time to test the whole system. Start by inspecting the cables and wires for corrosion or damage. Load test battery, test stator and rectifier.

Hi i have a 04 gsxr750 i change the starter relay at first it was working fine but once again relay dont get power i did check the fuse and the fuse is ok i also check the cluch switch and is good , battery is brand new . I dont know wath else to check please help ....
I own a 2007 GSXR 600 with 5700 miles, 3 weeks ago I stopped and got gas. When I went to start the bike back up the instrument cluster only displayed the neutral light and the display that shows MPG, mileage, temp etc only had the back light on. When I attempt to start the bike as seen in the video it doesn't start. My first thought was the charging system, very common on these bikes to go out. I order the parts and put in a new rectifier, stater, and battery. I go to start the bike and it still won't start the instrument cluster only illuminates with the neutral light. The fuel pump primes and the only suggestion I've gotten is to check fuses. Update I've checked all fuses and none are blown I have also checked spark plugs and they all spark, could it be the starter relay? I don't have a test light to check.
On my 09 V-strom dL 650 the starter solenoid is clicking several times when I press the starter switch, but bike won’t crank or it won’t start at all, replaced the battery and starter solenoid it self and it keeping doing the same thing, just checked all the step on your great video and they look the be getting good power and ground, but I can’t figure it out 😕, any suggestions? Besides than get you a new bike lol

You completely right, After I checked everything absolutely everything else like battery, starter solenoid, starter switch, kick stand switch, clutch sensor, starter assembly by it self, I was able to find out than the screw holding the negative wire from the battery was sulfated all around the tread with absolutely no sign of rust or any damage on the outside, the washer and ring by it self was looking so clean and healthy, so I removed it to check the connection and I figured it out than the screw was all white on the treads, I cleaned this out real good, sanded off a little bit and the bike started up right away with no issues 🤙🏻
I have got no dash coming on when I turn on the ignition just the headlights come on. I have power though even with ignition off to starter relay and both sides of the 30amp fuse. When I jump together neg and pos terminals off the starter relay it turns over even without the ignition on. Should I have power to both sides of relay with ignition off? and should the starter turn over when shorted across with ignition off?
Love the videos you produce and gives me confidence in working on my own bikes. I just bought Chinese clone of a Honda Grom, 2019 X-Pro Vader 125cc. The previous owner drove it for 26 miles and garaged it there after for about 1 year, because he would ride and then it would just shut off completely, he had taken it to motorcycle mechanics and they were dumbfounded when they test rode it and it did the same thing. After buying his bike I had the same trouble and with a new battery I can see the one fuse on the positive terminal that keeps blowing every time I try to replace the fuse. So I get no lights on the digital dash, no start, can you guide me on what you think on how to repair the fuse that keeps blowing., any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello I have 2016 gsxr 600, I’m having trouble with starting, all the light turns on, but doesn’t start, I checked everything has power, but the negative terminal on the starter relay doesn’t glow the light, but the fuse is in perfect condition, clutch is good too, any idea what could be possibly wrong. Hi I'm Daniel I have a 2002 gsxr 1000 she'll start up and I'll drive around for a while even turn it off gi do something come back and she'll start with no problem but she'll stall a at ight starting off and won't start back up again. When go to start her back up she seems to die like the battery is dead. I did a battery check and even changed the battery there hold the charge even with a load. Relay clicks. I'm it's the starter that when it get hot it doesn't want to start. Help, getting that starter out looks like a nightmare.. Thanks Daniel

Hi, I’m having an issue with my 04 GSXR 600. Anytime I connect the battery, it starts turning over. I get no power to the dash and the kill switch or start button does nothing. I am assuming it is the starter relay. Should I replace the starter relay or is there something else that I should be looking at?
Partszilla... Took my 2007 gsxr 1000 apart to paint and maintence a bunch for the winter. Took the whole back subframe apart and took out the ECU. The wife accidentally ran it over. So I'm buying a new one. Can I just get a used on and plug it in and go or do I have to get it programmed or new keys programmed? Thanks
my bike sometimes will not do anything when the key is turned on but the fuses are fine then randomly it will turn on is it possible that the starter relay with the 30 amp fuse needs to be replaced?

I’m having this issue. This is what I’ve done so far. Replaced the battery as it was bad. But then my starter relay fuse kept blowing. So, I replaced the starter relay. Still blowing. I’ve been thru about ten 30 amp fuses trying to diagnose the issue. I haven’t checked the clutch wires bc I’m getting no juice whatsoever. I know it has to be something within that battery to starter area. I just can’t figure out what. I’ve checked for exposed or touching wires & found nothing. 😢
I’ve got an ‘06 GSX-R 600 that keeps blowing the 30A fuse and I’m sure it’s an easy fix, I don’t know where to look for to fix the issue though. Absolutely no power goes to it and the battery is good. Could use the help..

Is.. What types of things may cause this and if i put another ecm in.. how do i know the new ecm won't just melt down too?
Hi John, I've done everything you've stated here and found it very helpful, but while testing the starter silonoid with the negative cable disconnected, the relay does not make the "clicking noise" as mentioned. Also, when I touch the negative cable with the test light it does not light up. Any suggestions?
Hey so I check the clutch switch and up on checking I notice I connect the tester to the positive side of the battery and touch the top wire on the clutch sensor and the light is on when the clutch is pull in nothing happens the light just stays on!!! ? 😕
Partzilla I was riding my 07 gsxr 600 took it around the block and just everything shut off on me turn the switch on and no power at all, for the pass few months my head light keeps blowing out so I decided to not put a headlight bulb anymore, it didn’t use to have this problem before, my battery is good it’s new, but something is always killing my battery as well when I am on high rpm but not all the time, now the issue that I am having is that I took it for a ride and it all completely died on me no power at all and when i turn the switch on I have no power
I have a 1990 GSXR 750M track only bike that will not start. I thought I had a problem with the starter relay as it was clicking when I tried to start the bike, so I bought a new one and replaced the old one. Still not starting. Neutral, oil light and dials illuminate with the ignition switch set to ON position. Now, the new starter relay making a buzzing noise instead. I have also put a shorty aftermarket clutch and brake lever, would this affect anything? I fully charged the battery and tried again. Still no luck. I have not tried push starting it yet. Should I try this? Should I change the battery as it was bought in 2011? Do you have any suggestions as to why it will not start? Your help would be most appreciated. Thanks
Thanks you make great videos. I have an 06 GSXR600. I've had the spark plugs changed, fuel pump changed, all relays checked, the starter switch replaced, new battery and the bike won't turn over. All the lights come on and you here the clicking but it wont turn over. No power is going to the fuel pump. Could this be the wiring or ECM?
I have a 05 gsxr 1000 bike will start with ignition on and just two big positive wires clutch on ground is good on clutch and 30amp fuse is good battery is only 11.5v and drops while turning over but I checked voltage at yellow green wire and only have 3.45volts what should this wire have for voltage bike will start with charge but have to jump two main wires to starter thanks bro
is there a chance you would make a video on a newer bike, I have a 2014 gixer 1000 and I'm having a similar problem but after following your instructions on this video I came out with no solution to it, engine won't even crank, I have a bran new battery, starter relay, clutch switch and I checked the starter switch and the kill switch, please help?
Does it click? Does it do anything or just dead? Check wires for loose connection or corrosion. Sidestand switch. Test that you are getting power down the line, there will be a cut off somewhere.
@@PartzillaParts: I really appreciate your reply, so here it is, I tested everything I could in my garage, the clutch switch, starter relay, the starter it self I took it out and tested it, the stand switch is working fine, the starter button got taken apart, cleaned and put back together. I replaced the clutch switch and the starter relay just to be sure, the battery is in perfect shape, and the problem is still the same, when I turn the key on I do hear the pump priming and all the normal noises of the bike before starting, but once I hit the starter button the head light dims and nothing else happens, no cranking, no turning nothing.
@@pablosiordia Have you checked the wires? Corrosion or a short could do that. Do a load test on the battery, often times it will read charged, but can't handle the load.
John wpuld a bad starter relay cause the bike to turn on (dash lights, odo etc.) But say check with f1 light on (no codes) but not prime the fuel pump and I hear no noise from the relay when I press the start button
Hey patzila im using gsxr 600 2008... Im getting cide c32 and c33 it says two injectors...... I have inspected the injectors is spraying great i have inspected wire harness is have all same power power but the problem is now bike wont start is trying but not starting.. Fuel pump.fuel pressure.. Plugs throttle is perfect... But bike doesn't start and they others guys says is ground wire so i dont know where is the ground were can you help me out
**Question 07 GSXR 750 About a month and a half ago my throttle pull cable snapped as I was riding, no biggie, replaced it and figured my bike was all good to go. When I go to start it I noticed my fuel fuse was blown and wasn't sure why so I replaced it. Every time I try to start it again the fuel fuse would pop. So I ignorantly put a larger fuse in and finally got it to start. However it was running pretty rough and bogged out till it died. I then put in its correct fuse and now it won't start. It cranks over but that's all. As far as troubleshooting I change the spark plugs, check the rectifier and that was OK, all other fuses were OK, cleaned the fuel filter, adjusted the TPS sensor, battery is fine. If I could get some advise I'd appreciate it!
was diagnosing a quad that was left to me has a 2006 gsx-r1000 and when i hit the start button my starter make a loud click sound and has a hard time cranking over does this mean my starter motor is on its last legs? and the starter rely part really helped me about the fuse because i couldnt find the dang thing on the quad until i found it hiding way under where it should not be so i relocated it as well while i was there. as well when you buy the starter motor will it come built i saw your link but im not sure if i feel comfortable putting it together myself i dont wanna drop any parts any advice?

I hear the fuel pump working everytime I turn the key and I dont think its my spark plugs as I have replaced them years ago. Can spark plugs just go bad just sitting in the engine? Im thinking I might not be getting any spark from the coils.
Hi I have a 5/02 GSXR 1000 Suzuki that has been crashed the speedo is disconnected and the loom is disconnected both are damaged I have ignition and the tail light is coming on but the bike will not turn over and the fuel pump is not turning on can you tell me if it needs the speedo instruments to be able to start. It will turn over crossing the solenoid but still won't start. Thanks for any help.

I'm curious what you think would be the most likely issue between the starter or clutch switch. I have an 09 1000. Everything was working fine, but when I went to leave work at the end of the day, would not crank. After about 3 minutes, it cranked and fired right up. No issues the rest of the day, until the next morning goin to work and again at lunch.
@DarthShibby I finally found out that my clutch neutral switch was unplugged but the connectors were still touching under the protectivesleeve. Plugged it back together and haven't had a problem since.

I have power to one side of the solenoid (thick red cable) but when pressing starter switch it's not jumping from one side of the solenoid to the other terminal, the one that runs to the starter motor bench tested both solenoid and starter motor and they work just fine so what's happening? Full power on battery as well.
Howzzit going.. I'm having problems with my kill switch. And fuel pump not priming when I turn the kill switch on. Checked all the fuses Checked battery.. all the lights and everything thing else works. Just the fuel pump and secondary throttle not priming. Any info that might help would be appreciated
2003 GSXR 600 , it has been sitting for 8 years outdoors , I drained fuel. I hooked up jumper pack straight to bike cables, wanted to see if it will crank, turn the key to on, I get neutral light, head light, tail light, I hear fuel pump try tp prime, Very low (weak sound then normal). get no speed or mileage info on display,, kick stand is down, maybe some type of safety ? checked all fuses, no broken fuse, I am handy with a fluke meter maybe can give me some starting points

Is that test light any different than using the continuity feature on a multimeter?
Yes, the test light is testing the presence or absence of voltage. It's an easy way to see where the voltage stops and diagnose an issue.

She started after I shift in the first gear holding the clutch down and the starting button giving a strong push and releasing the clutch gently.Before that I checked the voltage on my remote alarm display, was 11.82V. Hey Partzilla! i dropped my 09' gsxr 600 on its left side and now it wont turn over. I push started it and it runs fine but whenever i hit the ignition button i get nothing. I have tried the ignition while the bike is running and i still get nothing, no sound of the starter motor trying to turn over. What coud be the issue here?
I have low mile from o.g. owner gsxr 1000 ('06) with Zero'd out Power Commander II (still hooked up) and my ECU was flashed w FTECU for megaphone pipe early 2019. Stock air filter and stock Ti header. The bike never did this for 10months after I had ECU flashed. Problem: Intermittently only like 1/6 rides - bike will crank but NOT RUN from cold or warm.....ive waited 30 sec in between 4-5 tries and it might catch and then run no problem. Sometimes Ive cranked 10 times to point where battery gets weak so I give up...today I went home and let the bike sit at work in sun and tried again 11 hrs later. It still did not want to run and I had to crank 5-6 times and luckily it ran perfect lit off no hesitation after cycling key between tries. I cannot tell if its no fuel or no spark. Fuel pump always spins/whines....has left me stranded at work x2 times and I give up cranking it and just just hitch a ride home w coworker. Bike was damp on nighshift 2 of the 3 occasions so I was thinking moisture ingress ...... I can not replicate the problem after it runs. It does this 1/6+ rides to work...she just will not RUN while cranking not even a clue that it wants to catch and run...its all or nothing....she is cranking with no clue it wants to catch or it fires right up. NEW Iridium plugs several weeks ago to address but it is still doing it randomly!! It also did it hot after a 20 min ride in to work I accidentally stalled it at badge readers and it wouldnt restart! 91 octane fuel + new plugs only 13,000 o.g. miles....mods FTECU flash 2019, but still has old 2007 PCII ( in place but zero'd out)

Take the time to test the whole system. Start by inspecting the cables and wires for corrosion or damage. Load test battery, test stator and rectifier.

I own a 2007 GSXR 600 with 5700 miles, 3 weeks ago I stopped and got gas. When I went to start the bike back up the instrument cluster only displayed the neutral light and the display that shows MPG, mileage, temp etc only had the back light on. When I attempt to start the bike as seen in the video it doesn't start. My first thought was the charging system, very common on these bikes to go out. I order the parts and put in a new rectifier, stater, and battery. I go to start the bike and it still won't start the instrument cluster only illuminates with the neutral light. The fuel pump primes and the only suggestion I've gotten is to check fuses. Update I've checked all fuses and none are blown I have also checked spark plugs and they all spark, could it be the starter relay? I don't have a test light to check.

On my 09 V-strom dL 650 the starter solenoid is clicking several times when I press the starter switch, but bike won’t crank or it won’t start at all, replaced the battery and starter solenoid it self and it keeping doing the same thing, just checked all the step on your great video and they look the be getting good power and ground, but I can’t figure it out 😕, any suggestions? Besides than get you a new bike lol
If it's clicking, then you don't have enough power. Check your wires and connections. You'd be amazed how many times it's that simple.

You completely right, After I checked everything absolutely everything else like battery, starter solenoid, starter switch, kick stand switch, clutch sensor, starter assembly by it self, I was able to find out than the screw holding the negative wire from the battery was sulfated all around the tread with absolutely no sign of rust or any damage on the outside, the washer and ring by it self was looking so clean and healthy, so I removed it to check the connection and I figured it out than the screw was all white on the treads, I cleaned this out real good, sanded off a little bit and the bike started up right away with no issues 🤙🏻
I have got no dash coming on when I turn on the ignition just the headlights come on. I have power though even with ignition off to starter relay and both sides of the 30amp fuse. When I jump together neg and pos terminals off the starter relay it turns over even without the ignition on. Should I have power to both sides of relay with ignition off? and should the starter turn over when shorted across with ignition off?
Love the videos you produce and gives me confidence in working on my own bikes. I just bought Chinese clone of a Honda Grom, 2019 X-Pro Vader 125cc. The previous owner drove it for 26 miles and garaged it there after for about 1 year, because he would ride and then it would just shut off completely, he had taken it to motorcycle mechanics and they were dumbfounded when they test rode it and it did the same thing. Hi I'm Daniel I have a 2002 gsxr 1000 she'll start up and I'll drive around for a while even turn it off gi do something come back and she'll start with no problem but she'll stall a at ight starting off and won't start back up again.
When go to start her back up she seems to die like the battery is dead.
I did a battery check and even changed the battery there hold the charge even with a load. Relay clicks. I'm it's the starter that when it get hot it doesn't want to start.

Hi, I’m having an issue with my 04 GSXR 600. Anytime I connect the battery, it starts turning over. I get no power to the dash and the kill switch or start button does nothing. I am assuming it is the starter relay. Should I replace the starter relay or is there something else that I should be looking at?
Partszilla... Took my 2007 gsxr 1000 apart to paint and maintence a bunch for the winter. Took the whole back subframe apart and took out the ECU. The wife accidentally ran it over. So I'm buying a new one. Can I just get a used on and plug it in and go or do I have to get it programmed or new keys programmed? Thanks
You might have to get the keys reprogrammed.
my bike sometimes will not do anything when the key is turned on but the fuses are fine then randomly it will turn on is it possible that the starter relay with the 30 amp fuse needs to be replaced?

I’m having this issue. This is what I’ve done so far. Replaced the battery as it was bad. But then my starter relay fuse kept blowing. So, I replaced the starter relay. Still blowing. I’ve been thru about ten 30 amp fuses trying to diagnose the issue. I haven’t checked the clutch wires bc I’m getting no juice whatsoever. I know it has to be something within that battery to starter area. I just can’t figure out what. I’ve checked for exposed or touching wires & found nothing. 😢
I’ve got an ‘06 GSX-R 600 that keeps blowing the 30A fuse and I’m sure it’s an easy fix, I don’t know where to look for to fix the issue though. Absolutely no power goes to it and the battery is good. Could use the help..

It means you aren't getting power from the switch. Bad wires, bad switch, etc.

Hi John, I've done everything you've stated here and found it very helpful, but while testing the starter silonoid with the negative cable disconnected, the relay does not make the "clicking noise" as mentioned. Also, when I touch the negative cable with the test light it does not light up. Any suggestions?

Hey so I check the clutch switch and up on checking I notice I connect the tester to the positive side of the battery and touch the top wire on the clutch sensor and the light is on when the clutch is pull in nothing happens the light just stays on!!! ? 😕

Partzilla I was riding my 07 gsxr 600 took it around the block and just everything shut off on me turn the switch on and no power at all, for the pass few months my head light keeps blowing out so I decided to not put a headlight bulb anymore, it didn’t use to have this problem before, my battery is good it’s new, but something is always killing my battery as well when I am on high rpm but not all the time, now the issue that I am having is that I took it for a ride and it all completely died on me no power at all and when i turn the switch on I have no power
You definitely have a short somewhere that is affecting your electrical system.
I have a 1990 GSXR 750M track only bike that will not start. I thought I had a problem with the starter relay as it was clicking when I tried to start the bike, so I bought a new one and replaced the old one. Still not starting. Neutral, oil light and dials illuminate with the ignition switch set to ON position. Now, the new starter relay making a buzzing noise instead. I have also put a shorty aftermarket clutch and brake lever, would this affect anything? I fully charged the battery and tried again. Still no luck. I have not tried push starting it yet. Should I try this? Should I change the battery as it was bought in 2011? Do you have any suggestions as to why it will not start? Your help would be most appreciated. Thanks
Could be a bad battery, which is most likely. Otherwise, check for loose or damaged wires. Try bump starting it and see if it fires up.
Thanks you make great videos. I have an 06 GSXR600. I've had the spark plugs changed, fuel pump changed, all relays checked, the starter switch replaced, new battery and the bike won't turn over. All the lights come on and you here the clicking but it wont turn over.

Start at your battery and test everything down to the starter. Either you have a bad wire, corrosion or bad solenoid.
What does it mean if the test light doesn’t light up when you touch the light on the starter relay and hit the start button?

Does it click? Does it do anything or just dead? Check wires for loose connection or corrosion. Sidestand switch. Test that you are getting power down the line, there will be a cut off somewhere.

I really appreciate your reply, so here it is, I tested everything I could in my garage, the clutch switch, starter relay, the starter it self I took it out and tested it, the stand switch is working fine, the starter button got taken apart, cleaned and put back together. I replaced the clutch switch and the starter relay just to be sure, the battery is in perfect shape, and the problem is still the same, when I turn the key on I do hear the pump priming and all the normal noises of the bike before starting, but once I hit the starter button the head light dims and nothing else happens, no cranking, no turning nothing.
@@pablosiordia Have you checked the wires? Corrosion or a short could do that. Do a load test on the battery, often times it will read charged, but can't handle the load.
John wpuld a bad starter relay cause the bike to turn on (dash lights, odo etc.) But say check with f1 light on (no codes) but not prime the fuel pump and I hear no noise from the relay when I press the start button
Could be a relay, fuse, ignition wiring issue...time to start tracing from the ignition back.

About a month and a half ago my throttle pull cable snapped as I was riding, no biggie, replaced it and figured my bike was all good to go. When I go to start it I noticed my fuel fuse was blown and wasn't sure why so I replaced it. Every time I try to start it again the fuel fuse would pop. So I ignorantly put a larger fuse in and finally got it to start. However it was running pretty rough and bogged out till it died.
I then put in its correct fuse and now it won't start. It cranks over but that's all. As far as troubleshooting I change the spark plugs, check the rectifier and that was OK, all other fuses were OK, cleaned the fuel filter, adjusted the TPS sensor, battery is fine.
If I could get some advise I'd appreciate it!
Sounds like there is a short somewhere. Trace the wires off that blown fuse. I expect you'll find a wire or two grounding out.

was diagnosing a quad that was left to me has a 2006 gsx-r1000 and when i hit the start button my starter make a loud click sound and has a hard time cranking over does this mean my starter motor is on its last legs? and the starter rely part really helped me about the fuse because i couldnt find the dang thing on the quad until i found it hiding way under where it should not be so i relocated it as well while i was there. as well when you buy the starter motor will it come built i saw your link but im not sure if i feel comfortable putting it together myself i dont wanna drop any parts any advice?
I would health check the battery and test all the way to the starter. If you need a starter, they come assembled.
