- I shopped the @dvf and @target collaboration collection early at the New York City pop-up. Here is my #haul of the Top 10 pieces from the #dvfxtarget collection I purchased. Kind of. Except that Vera Wang for Kohls is a line that is continuously sold at Kohls. DVF x Target is a limited edition collaboration collection that will no longer be available once the pieces sell out.
@bambooprincess3495 These collections (including this Diane Von Furstenberg collab) always feature the logos of both brands because it’s collaboration and not to be confused with the designer’s main line. The same is true for the collaboration collections from H&M.
I think it would be scammy if Target was trying to play off the collection as pieces from the designer’s main line but it’s very clearly a collaboration AT TARGET. The entire premise of all these collaboration collections is to “democratize fashion” so that the every day consumer who does not have access to these higher end brands can purchase items at these more accessible retailers. I just can’t imagine anyone buying a DVF x Target wrap dress for $50 and thinking it’s going to be the same quality/materials of a regular $400 DVF dress. Perhaps some may have been confused about collaboration collections when they started happening 15-20 years ago but not in 2024.
After reading what you've shared, it seems pretty clear to me that this collection simply wasn't for you. As in, you're not the target(lol) audience. Of course, you wouldn't rush to a Target to pick up a Lilly Pulitzer or DVF collaboration item if you grew up with brands that you would be hard-pressed to find a dress for under $100 even when on sale. But, considering the average median household income in the United States was less than $68,000 last year, you can probably understand the success of retailers like Target, H&M and Walmart (although only two of them sell clothes and milk on the same premises).
The definition of a scam is "a dishonest scheme or fraud". It's my belief that the average Target customer is aware of the quality of clothes they're purchasing and understands they aren't getting the usual Marc Jacobs, Missoni, Jason Wu, Rodarte, Altuzarra, etc. quality clothes when they shop these collections. These shoppers may not shop the same brands or retailers as you, but it doesn't make them ignorant to the quality of clothes they're purchasing. That's why I disagree with the concept that these collabs are scammy but that's just my opinion. We'll just have to agree to disagree there.

The knit halter dress looks so bomb on me. I was surprised. It’s one of my fave vibes. I was sad not to get it also in yellow. Sold out in my size

Hey there! The halter dress is kind of a knit bodycon ribbed dress but has lots of stretch. I got it in a medium and liked that it was super clingy but you can stick to your usual size or go down if you like the tight look.

How were the home goods items?
They were very nice. The mug, saucer and stand set was my favorite. 😍
@@jessicayflores I just came back. Unfortunately,my suspicions were proven correct regarding the collaboration. The clothes were very cheaply made. The comforter & sheet set were not good quality.I did purchase the shower curtain as the motif complements a picture I have. They did not have the plates or mugs in the store.
As you can see, I really didn’t focus on the home goods because they’re not my cup of tea but I did notice the low thread count on the white chain sheets. Considering the price range and that it’s target, I wasn’t too surprised (although we have found nice sheets from their own line). I personally think the collection’s best pieces in terms of quality are their thick knit items like the vintage collared dress and the halter dress. I also really liked the bags.

These clothes are always at discount stores in Australia, stupid expensive and ugly. Kinda happy they are at target now, cheap.
