    This is one of the best starts to a PZ video EVER. Im subbing, and that's as far as I got, with hopes that this style continues! "You got some real potential kid" - some guy from 1937

    Great start, mate! I'm many years / hours into PZ and thoroughly enjoyed your energy and narration.
    Tip for Burglar (or once a non-Burglar profession has the Mech / Elect. skillz to also hotwire) -- Spam "V" then the Hotwire icon, multiple times, as quickly as you can, maybe 8-10 times (each iteration of the keypress/click will 'stack'), wait till it successfully eventually hotwires, then hit "Escape" once it succeeds. Especially helpful if zeds are approaching while you're hotwiring, haha 😆.
    Looking forward to more! Keep survivin'. ❤‍🔥

    Muldraugh is fairly busy, finding a place to settle is a good idea. That neighborhood just south of the clinic, near where you started, is a good place to set up an initial base. The houses are fairly nice and have high fences. It tends to stay relatively quiet once cleared 🙂Heck, i still live there 400 hours later.. There's even a small lake to the E, through the woods, if you want to do some fishing. Not very hard to find.
    Liked and subbed, i want to see more of this 🙂

    Also a newer player. One thing I learned that I think might help you is picking a better starting occupation. You place a lot of value and nimbleness but I find that being a lumberjack or even a construct worker armed with an axe is by far the easiest way to play. You take out zombies in just a couple of hits and the axe last for a really long time. The hardest part is finding one but once you do, you can pretty much fight any large group, no problem.
    I also start each run making sure I watch the life and living TV show to pick up those early stat bonuses before it's too late and the TV stops working

    • @GamerCatLady1984
      @GamerCatLady1984 20 днів тому +1

      I don't put too much stock into catching the life and living shows. They tend to make you rush and make mistakes. You can always find the video tapes later. The best thing to do is realize you have no place to be and all you have is time and you will make fewer mistakes. The best advice I can give for long term survival is to always set aside time to kill all the zombies around your base or a building you want to enter before you go inside. Its like cutting the grass.. grass that wants to eat your brains.

    • @DasLyfe
      @DasLyfe  19 днів тому +1

      I love the variety of play styles you find with this game! Being an Axe Man is a lot of fun too. Life and Living is a nice boost so I’ll take it when I can but for my play style, I’d rather crank through and get excited about finding the VHS tapes. But I do wish I had talked more about Life and Living so other players could make their own choice or know why I don’t focus on those shows.

    Really cool video! I’m hoping to get project zomboid in a few months so I have been watching a lot of videos The nailed baseball bat seems like a really good weapons it has good durability and range and dmg, tip if you fail at hot wiring a car you can try multiple times, I think

    • @DasLyfe
      @DasLyfe  21 день тому +2

      Thank you. Perfect timing for you to get the game with the new update (Build 42) expected to be ready soon. And that bat is a beast! Just don’t use it if a zombie has some clothes you want to wear. Blunt weapons won’t damage clothes but I’m pretty sure the nailed bat does.

      Long blunt is one of the most common weapon types, has great range of a melee weapon, and is pretty reliable. Great for early game and maybe even middle game but if you manage to find a machete or katana (the only two long blades in the game) they deal max damage and have great range. I'd start with long blunt and once you find those rarer and more powerful types of weapons focus on those if you're going for a melee play-through. Hopes this helps!

    Getting better at zomboid is a fun thing! I would say focus on something like a playstyle you will enjoy and stick to it for a while. You'll eventually learn everything as you branch out and experiment with various mechanics of the game. I always do what you're doing in the start. Pick up some beginning things. Only food really, then I check my closets if there are any gun spawns or bags. When you first start out, it's advisable to not eat the food in one go. I personally wait until I'm about to fight to eat, or simply only eat when my hunger reaches very hungry. Your full to bursting moodle doesn't stay long enough for it to be worth bulking your character. The underweight trait is something to take into consideration, but it's generally not a big rush. However, I see you're playing with what seems to be the regular rare loot settings, so eating food all the time won't be punishing to you.
    I suggest if you really want to get better at the game to play with rarer loot settings. Obviously, take as much time as you need to get your bearings straight but you should pay attention to what you could use in your later runs than immediately trying to survive. You'll learn a few things. Maybe finding a magazine teaching you how to create cage traps. That could put the idea of trapping in your mind for your next save. Especially with lower loot settings ( atleast both food types at ridiculously rare), then you have a real reason to be self sufficient. It's a great fun goal to reach, as you have to level up your carpentry as well, and then the flexibility for your character becomes endless. You can choose to live wherever you want, as long as you have that antique oven on you, and those 6 levels in carpentry to build the stairs and put a roof over your little shack. This also in turn means you have to go in towns less, which is great if you play with a high population as well where you don't want to risk it so much.
    I'm only 3 minutes into the video, but I'm sure everyone else in the comments are doing well helping you out. I would be willing to help you out further if you want to play together. I love to see new people getting into the game, but I hate seeing so many quitting the game from not understanding it. I have only 1400 hours, but I still spent a long time testing everything out. Having a partner to play zomboid with is a really great experience, and it helps you learn a lot. Of course, if you already have someone to play zomboid with, or simply want to play the game entirely solo; then I hope you have great adventures.

    When you hotwire a vehicle and it does not work, just try again until it works, it will finish by working after a couple tries.

    the way you pause the game occasionally and even took a perk for sleeping less indicates that the default speed setting is too fast far you. It can be adjusted in the sandbox settings under the world tab, I think. By default, it should be set to 1 hour I think, however, in my experience 2 or 3 hours per in-game day is a lot more fun and relaxed

    I use almost the same exact starting traits so I had to like and sub right? :) I have 1400 hours of this game on Steam but I swear I have only played like 500 and play like I've only had 100 or less. I think if I leave the game open but paused or even on the start screen Steam still keeps the clock ticking so it's a misleading amount. But you definitely have some of the veteran things down that most people wouldn't even think of -- checking the radios is huge.

    • @DasLyfe

      It’s a humbling game! I’m not an absolute beginner, Steam says I have a few hundred hours, but I’m still trying to get all the right habits established so I can survive longer than a month consistently.
