Great job with your video many a folk can learn from it. Thanks for sharing it, Happy Trails from Northern California Paul.🌈😎
I have a Terra Trike ROVER and have ordered the BAFANG kit. Thanks for your advice!
Good video! Great combination Trikes and historic bullet molds. Keep up the good work.
I've been found out!
Well done! Your repurpose of the trike makes perfect sense. Adding motive power to an already existing trike created a new class of vehicle, And, you are correct, a complete'how-complete 'how--to' video is in order. Your innovative design work on mounting the battery and peripherals the as very helpful!
So appreciate your video! I have a 2012 Rover ( purchased for the same reasons as you.....though thankfully without as much body damage as you had!) that I am adding the Bafang mid-drive kit, and you have helped a lot in answering my questions! Thank you!
Very helpful. I have a Terra Trike I'm thinking of converting.
Interesting conversion video mark
Excellent video, just bought a used rover, thinking about doing same, already have a 750 Bafang kit on my bike that I may pull off.
Thanks, if you have converted a bike, this should be easy for you. You will need a couple of extension cables. Good Luck!
This is fantastic, well done. Need to do this to my 2012 Rover.
I have a terra trike sport that would be fun with a bafang kit but i may just get the lectric XP trike. Its not much more than converting.
Your video helped me a lot thanks.
Rover has been around since 2011. I have 10,000 miles on my 2012 Rover.
Awesome👍 do you know what year they added the larger rear wheel to the Rover? I was looking at a used one, has the standard hub& external gears.
AWESOME! Have fun👍
Great content
Great Video. I am converting my wife's Rambler with a Nuvinci N380. Did you install a gear shift sensor with your Bafang upgrade? 👍
I did not install the sensor. I never had a situation where I shifted under load, so it was not necessary. Just hesitate while peddling when shifting and all will be good.
I'm 6'2" and fat guy fits me fine. I did get wide handle bars. Did get the versabars and moved the front of seat closer to the frame cross members. Had to extend front boom(enough boom inside to do this by moving it farther out and use predrilled hole farther back.) I needed longer chain and after doing this it's a lot easier to get in and out of. Looking hard at adding Bafang mid drive and changing rear wheel. Or maybe upgrading to Terratrike EVO.
Thanks for a great video. I am considering a conversion. I am wondering whether the Bafang mid drive motor provides any pedaling resistance if the battery is not connected to the bike. I would like to ride with no electrical assist sometimes but I do not want to suffer pedal resistance.
No resistance that I can feel. I did a 14 mile ride yesterday. I had the motor set a "0" for the first 5 miles.
let us know if you switch to a n380, I have that on my rambler. I was thinking of converting to electric.
Thanks for the info, do you by chance know what year they added the bigger wheel on the rear of the Rover? Standard external gears, 8-speed.
I think the Rover was always three 20 inch wheels. A larger rear wheel on the Rover would probably be an aftermarket change.
Love it. We are interested in their tandem. Don't own one yet but eager to learn. Subscribed. My questions are ... what happens in a down pour, can the motor (and battery) be protected? Also, how do you lock it?
There is some rain resistance with these systems, but we have never tempted fate. We don't ride in the rain or when the roads are very wet. Fortunately we have not been suprised by a sudden downpour. I have seen covers for bike batteries that will provide protection from rain/dust/mud, but have never invested in one. The batteries have a key to lock it to its mount. We use cable locks on those rare occasions where we have to leave or trikes unattended.
What size of sprocket on the n300? 23T (teeth)? What about the front chainring?
The front chain ring is 52t. I'm not certain on the rear, but I think it is 23t.
Did you have to use spacers to install the crank and whatdid you use to screw in the torque arm into the frame? Thanks for the video
.
No spacers were needed for m. I used a threaded rivet to make a hole for the screw on the torque arm. You will have to drill a hole in the boom, and then use a threaded rivet tool to install the rivet. The rivet is essentially a threaded liner that goes in the hole, providing a place to screw in a #10 scew with washer. Here is a pretty in-expensive tool kit to install them. www.amazon.com/YaeTek-Riveter-Threaded-Riveting-Assortment/dp/B078SLWKGM/ref=sr_1_8?adgrpid=1232552846195495&hvadid=77034719388463&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=80985&hvnetw=s&hvqmt=e&hvtargid=kwd-77034788111606%3Aloc-190&hydadcr=650_1015099152&keywords=threaded+rivet+tool+kit&qid=1687804553&sr=8-8
How stable does this frame feel when you're at high speed? Tempted to do this, but I'm a high speed rider and some of these get sketchy going over 15 or so.
The Rover is more of a touring trike instead of a speed trike. You sit up higher and more erect than some other trikes. As such, it will not be as stable when cornering at higher speeds. However, I never had any trouble with it in that regard. If you want speed, you will need to look at some of the other Terra Trike models.
Where did you buy the chainring and chain guard?
I belive it got it from BafangUSAdirect dot com.
Mark, curious what brand of battery do ya have on this?
This one is marked "HL." It came with the motor kit from BafangUSADirect.
Can you post the amazon clamp link for the display...thanks
Thanks, Dennis. I added the link in the video description.
@@Trikes-Trails I appreciate the fast reply....my wife has a 100Ow Bafang on her Rambler....been almost 6 yrs....the battery is a Sun...and still performing good...I purchased a Lipo bag that the battery is in all the time....hopefully it lasts many yrs yet.....she had knee replacement and hips done also.....its a life saver for her.... I have a Rambler but it has the 9 speed and if and when i go to a Electric assist ill put in on my Tourismo....might be a couple yrs....we are both retired and ride almost 3000 miles a yrs.....her Tourismo is in the house on a trainer.....thanks and wish you safe and happy rides
I'm a big feller. 6' tall and fat. Attempting to stay the same height but reducing my width. You mentioned yours being a little small for you. Do you mind telling how big you are? Also, did you put the wider handlebars on it?
Thanks! Great video.
I'm 6'4" and about 280lbs. The Rover handles up to 400 lbs and I can get enough lenght on the boom for my legs. The issue I had was the width between the handle bars. My legs slightly rubbed the cables and versa bar as I peddled. I could ride comfortably, but it was enough to be irritating as I rode.
Thank you for your reply. I took one for a test ride on sunday and ran into the same thing. Nice riding bike though. I had been riding a delta and I liked the tadpole much better. @@Trikes-Trails
@@Trikes-Trailsyou can buy extensions to widen the distance between the handlebars. With it’s 400# capacity the Rover is a great trike for long hauls.
Super helpful!!!!!
Thankyou!!!
Can you do mine?!?
Would you mind sharing the total cost of the project?
Paula, I bought my kit from this vendor. I got the low end battery (48v 11aph)that came with the kit. I did not upgrade. The only cable extensions I needed was the battery extension and speed sensor extension. bafangusadirect.com/products/complete-bafang-750w-bbs02-mid-drive-ebike-motor-kit-battery
All you need now is a 2nd battery, a bluetooth speaker and a phone mount..
2nd battery maybe, but I can do without the speaker!
Would be nice if you followed traffic laws.
