Sometimes I regret not learning about cosplay when I was younger, but then stories like this shows up and I'm glad that I didn't discover it until I was in college. I still had cringy moments, but nothing that bad. lol
When I was a kid, 15 maybe?, I thought I was too good for wigs so my first cosplay was just with my regular hair and let me tell you- it was baaaaad lol Honestly. Kids have no clue what they’re doing and its all just a huge cringe fest. 😂
My first cosplay interview was at my very first convention. I was Light Yagami with a bob cut, with braces, in a suit about 2 sizes too big, and my friend was L. We were asked to do an interview and, not thinking because I was 13, I was like, "We're cosplaying as L and Light from Death Note!" while awkwardly stroking my apple. He then panned over to my friend and she was like, "I'm L.' And I just felt so awkward;; I had introduced both of us, thinking he was filming both of us at the same time, WHEN HE WAS FILMING US SEPARATELY!!
You should’ve went up to the camera man and been like “wow you keep following me around what’s going on here?” Throw him on the spot then he has to interview you
oh sjeez I got interviewed for a dutch news show last year and they asked all these questions but I was in a big bastion cosplay and I couldn’t hear a thing of what they were asking. Also I was incredibly nervous, so my voice was shaking... awful but cool XD
I renember my first tv interview (not in cosplay). I was just sitting outside with a friend eating ice cream and this lady came up with us with a camera man to ask some questions about the city. I was very excited because this area is haunted but not a lot of people know its ghost stories, so I really wanted to tell her that. (I was 14 hush, I still believe in all of the stories but I wouldnt talk about them with these kind of people.) So we agreed to do an interview and she started to ask questions when suddenly she got attack by a male duck. she was screaming and running around and we just kinda stood there. unfortanally they never broadcasted the video...
Haaaaaaa omg I relate so bad, when I was that age me and my friends would once a year follow the poor photographer for the school catalogue around the ENTIRE campus for as long as our break lasted just hoping they would see us and take photos of us.
I am a little sad that I didn't discover cosplaying until I was 17, but I am glad that I missed out on these kinds of shenanigans... I was awkward enough as a wee preteen, without adding cosplay and public events to the mix
I loved CBC's the vinyl cafe and almost cried when I heard Stewart McLean died, but I also still listen to Raina Douris's show when I can. Edit: I was really thinking about it and realized how much CBC was apart of my childhood. Every time I go to my grandparents my grandmother would play the CBC classical music every Saturday morning since I can remember.
I was at a convention when I was 12 and CBC asked to interview me. And I was excited on the inside but I was so painfully shy on the outside They asked me a question and I COMPLETELY blanked. Long story short, like 6 years later, I regret how awkward I was. And they didn't put it on TV yep. Expected.
Ah yes, i remember going through something like this at my first con... but they never noticed me 😅 Also i have to say i love your outro music SO MUCH! i want it as my ringtone and alarm and my everything.
Haha I'm kinda happy that I didnt discover cosplay until I was older. However, I am still an awkward child at heart. Haha I got interviewed at AX like 3 years ago and I tripped and sneezed multiple times while they were interviewing me. Omgosh still true goals as maka😍😍
Ah, don't be so hard on yourself! You were a kid, and kids are dumb. Even smart kids are dumb. Everyone does/did stupid, cringey stuff as a kid. You're older and know better now! It's actually kinda adorable imagining the way you were following him around and popping up in these different places... trying to look cool, but clearly a star-struck over-excited kid...
Also, living in Michigan, the CBC is a standard station. Even when you could pick up broadcast TV on an antenna, it was one that we could get. I don't have much experience with CBC radio, but I've watched many shows on there! "Rick Mercer Report," in particular, is an absolute favorite.
CBC! Fond memories of watching Patty on Kids' CBC. :) It was cool to see TV cameras on the convention floor, though I doubted any of the footage was used early on (almost a decade ago) to showcase other events of higher profile. Also, the difference between anime conventions and ComicCon is worlds apart in terms of media involvement. For me, Top Personal Cringe Moment is running up to J. Michael Tatum and Monica Rial after their panel for a picture as they were rushing out to catch their flight (I met them for autographs out of cosplay the day before). Yikes. :/
My dad would always choose to listen to CBC radio in the morning or when driving to the city over when I lived in my small town! My aunt had been a radio producer for CBC until she retired. Not sure which she produced though, I’ll have to ask. :)
sad thing is i had a cringy interview in one of my latest cosplays where someone came up to me (well i stalked them for a bit as well) in my saeran choi cosplay and asked questions about how i started blah blah and i ended up saying so much things i really *really* regret, i was stuck between the real me and the character and i got confused by myself and just said senseless things...
YES YES YES CBC RULES! We would always try to have Vinyl Cafe playing on the radio during Sunday morning brunch, or listen to it on the way back from swim lessons or ski/snowboard lessons. DNTO is also great, along with Tapestries, the Next Chapter, This is That, and The Debaters. If I recall there's also Spark, which is the science and tech radio show, and I forget what it use to be called, but the new iteration of the show is called Age of Persuasion(?), where they talk about pop culture and what goes into brand and commercial designs. There's just so many good show on CBC, and that's just the radio shows! Did anyone ever watch Rick Mercer, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, or The Nature of Things?
OML this was probably my fave storytime ever!! ITS HILARIOUS! I was just like this when I was younger ;; I followed a cameraman when I was like 8, acting all edgy wanting to be interviewed _(:3 」∠)_ why are we like this?
Hey Anya I was thinking about doing a Evelynn from LoL cosplay ( in her Tango skin ) could u give me some hits about what material I could use for her tails ? Thx luv your vids xoxo
Hahaha! Great story! I wanted to thank you for inspiring me to record a cosplay storytime- I uploaded it yesterday to my UA-cam channel lol it is also cringe worthy lol
I looked back at the first cmv I was ever in and it was awful. I was in this crappy homestuck fantroll cosplay and I was so excited about it and I thought it was huge. It was so cringy.
Anime Evolution isn't dead I'm afraid to say. It will be back this year (2019) I have many sources and some info to back this claim. Plus I know the cons chairman. It's had a lot of hiccups over the years especially in 2016 when I volunteered the first time as staff. It's sad really. I was going there from 2004 till then. I even stopped attending Anime Revolution due to the lack of panels, content and guests that interested me. Fan Expo Vancouver is still my favorite con but a lot of people will tell you it's no good otherwise. The simple truth is there's too many anime cons from Vancouver to Victoria to Seattle that take place every year.
I used to do the same thing at my first convention. I would wait for photogrophers to notice me until I grew up, grew out of being shy, then started asking them to shoot with me
I was interviewed by Ed the Sock once, though my story is a bit different. I was hanging around outside at Anime North in Toronto. I was basically melting, because my cosplay was made entirely from duct tape. Next thing I know, someone is pushing a microphone into my hands. I turn, and there's a short dude with a sock puppet. ...It was Ed the Sock. I stumbled awkwardly through that interview, as well, because I had no time to mentally prepare myself lol. I never did get to see it, because it only aired on some Toronto cable network (and I don't live in Toronto). I also was on InnerSpace for Syfy, though that was for my steampunk work. That one went much more smoothly, as I was allowed to act in character (as my drunken airship pirate OC haha)
When i was 12 i decided that it's a good idea to enter a contest. My cosplay started falling apart on stage.in front of the judges...It was a really small con but i didn't leave my room for a week XD
Ooof that reminds me of at PCF the biggest con in my state I was Yurio from Yuri on ice but the welcome to the madness version so it's super ccsdvbnmn revealing and my chest was taped so nothing would flash anyone and a reporter can up to me to interview me and I'm to socially awkward to say no but I knew I looked terrible because I panicked at the last second and took off my eyeliner and did a really bad rendition of his makeup and I was also giddy af because I was waiting for my boyfriend and his parents to arrive
How did you make your scythe for you Maka cosplay. I've been wanting to cosplay her but have been a bit confused on how to make the scythe since I am still fairly new at it.
I was actually on TV 3 times the first time I was itty bitty baby dancing at a concert and there was this line here come the rain and I looked up to find the rain even though there was no rain . But that was a news paper . Then I was on TV because I was singing OH CANADA for my city’s council . Last and least it was a group interview for this girls sports day where a bunch of girls from different schools did sports , and I wasn’t in the same group as my best friend and when they did get to interviewing they had us all in a group but never picked me to talk witch was really upsetting for me even though I was on TV after that . Oh and then there was CTV another Canada Tv station and I think the queen was there but I did get filmed I don’t know if it ever aired thought.
Anime Evolution was the original big anime con in Vancouver until it was cancelled in 2011. Anime Revolution was started to fill the gap that AE was thus going to leave.
-we stan an awkward queen-
Sometimes I regret not learning about cosplay when I was younger, but then stories like this shows up and I'm glad that I didn't discover it until I was in college. I still had cringy moments, but nothing that bad. lol
My second cosplay was the first time I wore a wig and the wig cap was crazy visible. I look back at it and wonder how I could be so bad.
When I was a kid, 15 maybe?, I thought I was too good for wigs so my first cosplay was just with my regular hair and let me tell you- it was baaaaad lol Honestly. Kids have no clue what they’re doing and its all just a huge cringe fest. 😂
Lol. I’m 13 and thankfully I’m smart enough to not have this or anything similar ever happen
That poor cameraman! I can imagine him going home and tell his spouse about this young girl following him around, trying to get on CBC.
My first cosplay interview was at my very first convention. I was Light Yagami with a bob cut, with braces, in a suit about 2 sizes too big, and my friend was L. 2010 Anya: notice me TV-senpai
BASICALLY 🤣
*oh, me?* YOURE SO SILLY
You should’ve went up to the camera man and been like “wow you keep following me around what’s going on here?” Throw him on the spot then he has to interview you
Damn that's an angle I never would have thought of.
oh sjeez I got interviewed for a dutch news show last year and they asked all these questions but I was in a big bastion cosplay and I couldn’t hear a thing of what they were asking. Also I was incredibly nervous, so my voice was shaking... awful but cool XD
CBC camera man: "Why do I here boss battle music?"
ASJDKKDKFKFK I SNORTED OMG,,,, 🤣
@@AnyaPanda aaww yay!! Haha
I can relate badly when I was 13 I had the same mentality and now Im thinking about back then and....... Cringe

THIS STORY TOOK SUCH AN UNEXPECTED TURN.
This is the best story XD
@@taleef1760 thank you 😂
Haaaaaaa omg I relate so bad, when I was that age me and my friends would once a year follow the poor photographer for the school catalogue around the ENTIRE campus for as long as our break lasted just hoping they would see us and take photos of us.
What if you emailed the CBC and they still had the footage in archive? Would you show it?
Oh yeah, if it exists and it's possible to get a copy of it I would definitely do a reaction video.
"Notice me Sempai" vibes, but worse xD
If you dont have a cringey moment from your early cosplay days are you really a cosplayer though. Cause girl I feel you xD
DAMN YOU'RE SO RIGHT 👌🏻
Literally me in middle school oh my god lol
I am a little sad that I didn't discover cosplaying until I was 17, but I am glad that I missed out on these kinds of shenanigans... I was awkward enough as a wee preteen, without adding cosplay and public events to the mix
I’m right now 14 and I’m cosplaying
I’m also a loner in big conventions
But my mature Brain acts like
“Get up and do something grown up!”
You were like *Notice me senpai*

Hello I was just getting ready for a cosplay than BOOM you posted so I literally stopped everything!
Ayyyy! 😄🙌🏻💕
I also watched/listened to CBC news
On the bright side, you had a lot of confidence in your cosplays at such a young age.
the title alone is already promising
Oof you inspired me to finally start my second cosplay
I started watching your videos since a week ago, but I have watched almost all of them and im excited to see many more! love ya!~
That means a lot, thank you so much! 💕💕💕 I hope you enjoy what's in store! 🙏🏻❤

Semi off topic question: have you been keeping up with Rwby? They’ve gotten some cool new character designs
I'm years behind on RWBY. ^^'
AnyaPanda Hehe, that’s fine- but if you get a chance, I definitely recommend that you watch it (Like maybe in the background while you’re sewing). ^^

Don't you have to be 18+ or have parents permission to be filmed for TV or something? Is it different in Canada :o
