As someone who has spent thousands on VSTs and VSTis, I would highly recommend newcomers to the digital audio world to spend a lot of time collecting free stuff and trying it out before spending a dime. You WILL be surprised at what you find. I wish I could have those thousands back so I could buy something I really need. The trap is SALES. That's how they get you. 50% off of $800 is still $400.
@@KevinKuschel Personal favorite? Devastator freebie. That thing is absolute GOLD. Value wise, I'd say Discovery because it's such a neat thing for entry level practice. Quality wise, that Pacific freebie is totally nuts
Very nice overview and well done. Thank you. I'm pleased that you included the Norrland Trumpet. It's an amazingly comprehensive tool with a beautiful selection of mutes. But no one seems to know about it.
Great video as usual Kevin. VSL - Celestial Strings is a just a GEM! Love the Synchron player as it easy to use and has some wonderful presets and mic positions. Amazing value for FREE - Cheers, Hendrik
After spending quite some time looking for free flute VSTs, here's what I can recommend: Ivory Wind By Embertone, Feroyn’s Flute by Walid Feghali, Folk Winds by Hereafter Soundtracks. I think MuseScore is also worth mentioning as it offers much in terms of dynamics and articulations.
Well done, Kevin! It took a lot of work to put it all together. I think this video is very useful not just for beginners. With this arsenal of freebies, everybody can create very complex and sophisticated music, and when it gets into the right hands, I dare say, not many people can tell the difference to paid libraries. Freebie libraries have their limitations and it is relatively difficult to mix sounds from different rooms, but the journey is sometimes a destination. My favourite is the same as yours, Minimalist Violins. When I discovered it a year ago, my jaw dropped.
Wow! Your videos are just incredibly valuable! I learn so much from every one of them. Quick and to the point. Thanks! Many of these Instruments are so good it's amazing that they are free. I do use Palette Primary Colors, the Project Sam stuff, BBC, and some of the LABS plugins. But I think I'm going to have a lot more 'freebies' after watching this video! I better start downloading now!
I just commented on an older video you did and found this after. It's nice to see some of my suggestions have already been covered here along with some others I didn't know about. Thanks for the tips!
Youre doing a Great Job man. I already own some really good sample libraries, so i don’t really need them. Still, I want to appreciate what you are doing for those, who do not yet have any big sample libraries. Keep up the good work
Thanks for telling about these gems :-) They sound like high quality, and I'll be checking many of them, thanks! I'll also be checking out your channel :-)
could you maybe make a video at some point that focuses on orchestral instruments that are standalone plugins and do not require the download/use of any specific player/app? would greatly appreciate that
Yes. For some of them you need the paid version of Kontakt. Others run in the free Kontakt, or the free SINE player or the free Spitfire player. I gave the information for each instrument. All of these players will run in Reaper.
@@KevinKuschel This question is personal and a choice between the two But which is better and easier? i just asked to download one of this cuz i have some problems with my version All i want one of this versions, one version have alot of libraris and the way library add easier i hope u help me to choise between them
free orchestral libraries are actually libraries these days, back in the day it used the worst sounding shit like ever. New composers have it way easier than back then, there is actually lots of free stuff with variety. Video speaks for itself
You need to ditch LABs from the list, they've made the plugin spectacularly ugly and actually unusable in an effort to push their low value subscription offering. I've lost a lot of respect for them. I was just about to throw down my cold hard cash on SSO, but I'm now reconsidering...
What's your favorite freebie?
You didn't miss a single free library that I use myself. In fact you showed many libraries I didn't know. This really helps a lot.
It's amazing what you can get for free these days. Kudos to all these companies.
Where was this video 2 days ago when I spent a bunch of money

Which freebie is most useful to you?
Same! 😂🙌

It's awesome!
My favourite free is Solo Legato Trumpet by Musical Sampling. The best I have ever heard and it's free.
Westwood instruments has Untold Strings, Drifting Winds and Dust Piano!! Great freebies!🎹
Great video as usual Kevin. VSL - Celestial Strings is a just a GEM! Love the Synchron player as it easy to use and has some wonderful presets and mic positions. Amazing value for FREE - Cheers, Hendrik
I kind of forgot of the absolute gem that is Tutti Free by Sonokinetic. Its for aleatoric horror-esque phrases
Impressive breakdown and well put together. Great work Kevin. Also congrats on the course. Cheers mate
Thanks
If you can make an episode dedicated to free Ethnic VSTs , would be great.

Damn, so much great strings and Sounds ! Can’t believe most of them are free, thx mate ❤
A lot of awesome freebies available for orchestral tools’ sine player. The organ is amazing
I have and use most of these, but it was good to see some I hadn't even heard of yet to add to the collection!
Would love to see you make a track using just these freebies :)
Seconded!

Great video! I love the way you separate things into categories. I use that 1928 piano all the time. So beautiful.
An oldie but a goodie is the Carpenter Trombone from Ivy Audio.

Wow norrland never heard of that but deffinetly need it
You've made great choices, Kevin... Congratulations and many thanks.
Bro, this is more than enough. Thank you
Great video Kevin. I loved that you included that quote from Hans during the intro!
The Blueprints series is really good!
dang i've been missing out on so many good libraries! thanks for sharing.
(edit: jacob collier's audience choir is also cool!)
Great video, Kevin!!! Thank you for showing all these freebies 🤗
Amazing work !!!!! I really appreciate that ! Thank you very much 😁😁😁😁😁😁
I‘m completely new to composing, could you please make a video about how to import those libraries in DAWs such as Cubase and how to use the sounds?
Wow, danke für die umfangreiche Übersicht!
Omg, thank you. I’m definitely getting a lot of these libraries. It’ll help a lot. Thank you so much.

This is a great overview kev. I remember using soundfonts as I was starting out.
Many Thanks for sharing thes!
💛🙏
What type of instrumentation is that plugin at 25:38? Is it like textures, percussion, loops, rhythm, fills? I need to find more of them
Thank you sir, this is a massive help!
A thousand thanks
Time to update, cuz The Orchestra Elements just dropped! What a great time to be alive as a starting composer.

Don’t forget Untold Strings by @westwoodinstruments from our new Roots series of free instruments!
another great one is The Alpine Project, however it only works with the paid version of kontakt player
Awesome !
Wow!
Impact Soundworks has a Shreddage Guitar and Bass freebies. Great to add on top of Orchestral Tracks 🙂

Great video Kevin. Quick question what kind of computer keypad is that? It looks so retro.
Nuphy Air 75
FREEEEE 🤩🤩🤩
Ben!
Hi
Yow Ben!

Thank you .. Some of them I didn’t know .. However, given that we are talking FREE, ones that require Kontakt 6 are technically out of the chart .. 😅

what is your model keyboard model?
Unfortunately the Norrland Samples Trumpet doesnt work with the free kontakt version :(
You can always go the Jack Sparrow route

This libraris for full version or player version?
Watch the video, it's on the screen when I talk about the specific library :) Some are for Player, some are for Full.

Great content, thanks. Unfortunately, LABS is no longer free but requires a subscription now.
@@johnalford6964 I heard the original LABS instruments stay free as legacy packs.
Is it possible to use any of these in Fl Studio Mobile
These are mostly Kontakt sample libraries. As far as I know, FL Studio Mobile doesn’t run Kontakt.
Can these files be used in fl studio?
The sample libraries? Yes, you can load Kontakt or any other sampler that each library requires in FL Studio.
@KevinKuschel Thank you very much sir🙏🏽
Great
Was expecting The Orchestra Elements from SonusCore to be on the list
It wasn't out yet, I'm sure he'll mention it on the next video.
SOUNDPAINT!
Dude, the goose references on your channel are out of hand 😂
🦆
i thought i'll have something new but turns out i already have all of these😂(except the full ones bcs i can't afford kontakt full rn)
RIP Spitfire Labs. ❤
The legacy free LABS content is still free.
@@KevinKuschel Oh yes, understood. But the content itself wasn't what made Spitfire special.
