I've never made a junk journal as such, but I have used old books. I never know how many pages to take out. I really enjoyed this video, thank you for sharing. Hugs 🎨🖍🖌
The number of pages to tear out varies... I do about 1 in 3 or so.... I like to leave a lot in and maybe remove more if I need to, if it gets too chubby....

I purposely put text upside down, it appears be an alternative, vaguely familiar alphabet. It is about how the shapes please the eye...same with sheet music. They feel familiar but not quite decipherable. I also do asemic writing, it’s a fancy word for scribbling, like a child might when imitating longhand. Try scribbling backwards (from right to left) to really free you from expectation of making known letters. And yes, I’m going to make an altered book, my first!
Yes, please do a stamp tutorial!! There are quite a few great videos showing different-style stamps being made, but there is certainly always room for more ideas. Thank you for sharing your altered book. It's already looking awesome!

I love everything you made in this video. I have a few favourites on UA-cam and you're high up on my list! Inked edges is very nice, I see it everywhere, but I can't find them in the shops here so I don't have any. And you have shown me that I DON'T NEED THEM! You make beautiful pages/pockets/collages whitout any ink! Thank you for showing that I can stop looking out for ink pads!!! 🤗❤
I know how frustrating it is to be so confident in planning and putting a ton of work into a project. And it not end up working out at all. BOO! 🤬! But it is absolutely beautiful how you painted it and I love the stamp! So in the end we say a couple angry bad words and sulk a little. And then we forget about the whole thing a day later! 😉 ( Yes I do become a 5 year old for a few minutes when things go haywire sometimes! I proudly admit it.)
Joie, this is delightful! I would say about the text that is upside down, that sometimes that is good to keep one from being distracted from what the words say. The mushroom board page may be a good book board as a marker, and to place under a page for smoothness. I do love sunflowers, and that stamp is colored exquisitely! I hope it finds a home in the book somewhere! I have books that size and color that I modify and use for my journals. Mostly I remove the text block and add pages, non-sewn, as Barbara has shown us. I think I need to consider decorating the front, and you've given a wonderful example and inspiration here! Hugs! Peggy

I wanted a December journal first but it will be a Christmas journal. This will be quite a challenge, I will not have them ready in December, I am afraid but I do not mind. I make them for myself. I love the month of December with Sinterklaas and especially Christmas

Oh my dear, you have made that 🌻 jump off my iPad when I saw it after you added colors. The “Toad Stools” are fabulous. I like the punch with the “fluted”edge. What size is your punch you used for your toadstool? It’s lovely using chalks. I’ve not been using mine. They are old, but I’ll check I really love the look. Absolutely! You are extraordinarily talented! I love your instructional style, and I especially appreciate how you "audition" many items, letting us see your thought process. My art journals tend to be thematic, and I'm wondering, are you adding all the little items because of a color theme, an art style, a theme? I've been making some of the pockets you show, but I tend to think they should all follow the theme of the page I'm creating. Also, do you create any of your own images- draw, paint, sketch, etc? I may have missed that, but I suspect you also have a flair in that area. Thanks again!!
Hi Carol...check out my home page.....there are several playlists that might interest you... including ones doing both art and junk journal spreads. I look for a family of colours but also pattern sizes which go. I look for a big pattern, a medium and a small....or at least variety. First I love you ideas always. I have books that I usually remove the text block from but if you don't do that and leave the pages in there does it get too bulky?
That's a great question. Sometimes I add a light spray of hairspray, which seems to be an accepted way of setting things. I don't have anything that's a fancy art product to do this. 👍😁💜
You do not sew pages in you left the pages in you did not take all the pagers out so you really didn't strip the book you just left some of the pages in

Hi, do you set the chalk with a fixative so it doesnt rub off?
That's a great question. Sometimes I add a light spray of hairspray, which seems to be an accepted way of setting things. I don't have anything that's a fancy art product to do this. 👍😁💜
