  • Herb Oscar Anderson was a one-of-a-kind radio personality who for the span of over six decades, entertaining millions of radio listeners. He will probably be best remembered as The Morning Mayor of NYC Radio on 77 WABC in the early 1960's. This is my special tribute.

Wow! What a wonderful Tribute. I lived on Long Island and grew up with Herb Oscar Anderson. My favorite was him singing That Happy Feeling. I was so sad to hear he has passed away. Thank God Cousin Brucie is still around. I live in Florida and listen to him on my Sirius every Wednesday and Saturday. So many happy memories. Those years were the Best!

Now live in Texas but grew-up as a teen in northern Jersey during the 60s and listened to all those great WABC names (HOA, Ingraham, cousin Brucie, Scott Muni, Ron Lundi) on my 6-transistor portable, taking all of this for granted as if it would last forever. The innocence of youth. Thanks for posting Art. Brings back some wonderful memories.

This is my first time hearing Herb,as I wasn't old enough to remember when he was on the air. When I started listening to ABC Harry Harrison was the morning dj. Herb certainly has a pleasant personality.

I was a boy in the early 60s I would remember HOA in the morning it was like part of my DNA I couldn't forget it. I sometimes wouldn't think of him for years and I'd think about the song Hello Again and it all floods back
That song is part of my early childhood . Good by HOA and I thank you so very very much. Dover New Jersey.

He is the first radio announcer I remember ever hearing as a kid.....and I would call him Herb BOSCO Anderson....early 60's I was 4 or 5. This is great! Sad to hear he passed.

Our generation of Boomers never gave thought we would age and in time be passing on. Sad but it is happening too much now. Time waits for no one, sad that we cannot live forever in the 1960's. The BEST decade. Hope when I pass that GOD sends me to live again in the 1960's. No computers, YEAH!

Nice tribute to a radio icon. Grew up on Long Island and heard him frequently. Most all of the DJs of that era have since passed and that is sad. Even Pete Fornatale ,who I think passed way young. Glad Cousin Brucie is still going strong like the energy bunny..

A beautiful tribute! He was before my time but I listened to WABC from infancy in the year of the Miracle Mets and the Apollo Moon Landing through today. I am glad I caught his streamed Florida radio show in the years before his passing. Sort of old-fashioned but charming and had a great crooning voice. They broke the mold!

I was a big fan of 77WABC in NY, but not of Herb. I guess my mother would have liked him. Waaaaay too corny for my taste. I liked his replacement when he left - Harry Harrison.
