    Thanks for highlighting on here, the problems with the buses and the snow. I have just watched trolleybuses in the snow in Lucern, which were travelling without any problems. Let’s face it, Switzerland has a few hills like Sheffield, but they manage okay, yet I fail to understand why we in this country cannot cope.

    • @AndMoreCentral
      @AndMoreCentral  4 роки тому

      Aye not a problem it was very interesting to be there to document it. I must agree that Europe tend to cope better, main reason we struggled was due to the lack of gritting and the obvious fact that Sheffield is a constant hill.

    It’s so bad out there. Luckily the main roads like Blackstock Road here are now clear from the gritters.

      Oh aye it did take a while though!
      And regarding gritters they only went out after 12pm thus why buses were already stuck at that point

    Great video. ☺️ I just subscribe to ur UA-cam channel. ☺️ I've seen a Optare Versa get stuck in the snow before ages ago when there were some over here in London with Stagecoach London but I've never seen a Enviro 400 get stuck in the snow before.

      Hiya, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your support! Ahh yes the Stagecoach batch of Optare Versas, think a few still survive as driver trainers. If you have a look at the 'buses stuck in the snow' video in the description it shows a Stagecoach E400 Trident been freed too.

    amazing effort of those people helping out to keep the bus moving, it's pretty scary when the bus starts sliding due to lackof grip, why don't they get fitted with better tyres? And why don't the gritters come out more often on routes like that? I used to live not far from there myself so I know what that road is like..

      Spinning causes SERIOUS DAMAGE TO TYRES & TRANSMISSION.It must be avoided at all costs Not to mention the noise nuisance which sounds like the poor vehicle screaming in agony which is not acceptable.In the context of buses chains or other similar devices should be used to stop the spinning which on something of this size is Dangerous as it could swing sideways & hit another vehicle Also why do buses not have proper traction control & to prevent this kind of thing it should be a legal requirement to grit & clear all bus routes as sliding buses are a serious threat to public safety.

      I remember this snow tbf, here in Macclesfield it was sunny in the morning, and then about 6 inches of snow by 6pm. It came down in just over an hour. If buses were sent out, it was probably not snowing, hadn't snowed and wasn't forecast

      As a bus driver, in another part of the UK, I can tell you that every bus I drive responds differently, even between the same types of bus. The throttle on some responds smoothly with a gentle touch, on others nothing happens until it eventually kicks in with more power than you might like. I can't tell from the competence of the driver from this video. I shouldn't think you can either.
