Let me provide a little context for this video. I was in Sussex Tech's band this year (graduated in 2017), and I'm somewhere in this video in the back. This year was the BIGGEST our band ever was, and probably the most talented drumline we had, either this year or the next. We did a drumline battle with Dover every year during 3rd quarter. Out of all HS bands in Delaware, only three were styled after HBCUs - ST, Dover, and Smyrna (although Smyrna may have changed things up a bit recently). The former directors of ST and Dover - Harvey Bullock and Lenny Knight respectively - were best friends and college roommates at Delaware State University. Their dream was to run the DSU band together. Thus, a friendly rivalry began between the two high schools after both of them became directors. Bullock was diagnosed with bone cancer my freshman year in late 2013, and had to quit while he made a recovery. Tech got a new director in 2014, Ian Kenney - a fresh grad out of Penn State University and former drum major of the Blue Band, to carry on the strong legacy of Bullock. While it had a rough start, he managed to pull together a fantastic program, which is what you're looking at now. He has since left Sussex Tech. Lenny Knight unfortunately passed away in March of 2017. Harvey Bullock WAS (read edit) the director at Delaware State University, fulfilling his dream with Knight watching over him. EDIT: Uhhh so apparently Bullock was caught doing some, uh, "stuff" with a dancer in the Del State band a couple years ago. Now he works as a brass instructor at a music store 💀
Thank you for the history that goes with. I literally had chills as this group performed. The unison was awesome as was the entire performance!! I thoroughly enjoyed the enthusiasm and expertise. My sympathy to Lenny's family and friends for their loss.😪
Bro the way that guy dropped the stick and then just pulled a new one out and didn't screw up the entire thing was SMOOTH AS HELL that was dead-ass impressive!!
WOW, those kids are having LOTS of fun and this is a lot of fun to watch because of it. Yeah, I see what people are saying about the lines not being clean, etc. I'm a Drum Corps vet and a clean drumlines is what I'm used to as well and such WOULD indeed be better. But, then again this clip goes to show that I guess with all of the fun that they're having; well damn, it makes me overlook some of the dirt haha. And that's what's up! At least they're having lots and lots of fun and that's all that matters. That's the way it should be! This is something to take notice to and this could be something to show to a beginning Drumline to nevertheless show how fun being in a Drumline could truly be.

When he dropped his stick and just kept flowing like he had one!
Great job to both drumlines for great displays of musicianship. That second drumline came ready to play though.
so the first bit that dover did is the cadance we use to march in on Friday nights we call t-minus and it's one of our students and fans favorites
Chick on quads vs chick on bass drum WOOT!!!
6:04 lol who else saw far right drummer lose his stick doing a trick?
Still a good performance overall from both high schools tho
also 11:12 long haired dude looked like Lil Tecca
pretty sure the first clip is a girl
can't wait till we drum battle y'all this year
As a band student, I love drum battles
The first drumline rolls🙅♂️ it looked like they were just playing really fast
Dover won that completely. The other band played basic songs, were dirty (they both weren't too clean but dover was overall pretty clean) and dover didnt play around and were more serious
straight up love this!! who else has seen the movie Drumline?
Thank you for sharing this. I loved it all..
dover wins, but some of the snare line stuff was really dirty
Yeah dude I'm center snare and oof
I’d be in the back hitting the little triangle and being like oh the other teams got nothing on us.
GO DOVER HIGH I SEE YOU. KEEP DOING YA THANG I SEE YOU AND I AM MOST PROUD OF YOU ALL. GOOD JOB. I LOVE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING AND I LOVE THE PERFORMANCE. GO DOVER HIGH.
There should be more school fights like this. The only thing that gets hurt are egos.
