    The feels were very real in this episode. What a tragic life of Grisha. He may not have been a good father but still he didn't deserve the hand he was delt. And then when he did receive a second chance, when he got happiness again it was quickly ripped away with the death of his second wife Carla and the knowledge that his second son would grow up to be a monster.

      Mh is Eren a "monster" ? I mean sure maybe in grisha's eyes he is one.. but i dont think so, im sure he can understand Eren in some points, but cant accept the price for this. There where just 2 ways: Eren dont give Grisha the memories and all people in Paradis will die or Eren give Grisha the memories and he can safe some of the people he loves. Hard decision, but i would do the same as Eren.

      Sure the way Eren did this was not fair for Grisha.. but that makes eren not a monster in my opinion. A real monster is not doin stuff like this just to protect loved people.. like Mikasa or Armin.

    What’s so sad about this scene is that while it seemed like Zeke was actually present for us viewers, for Grisha he only appeared to be, like an apparition. Grisha was so desperate to proclaim his love and regret toward his son that he hugged the empty space Zeke appeared to be in. But in reality, it was too late. Grisha knew the teenager Zeke back in Marley wouldn’t have heard his apology until now given that they are an island apart and he knew Eren would soon eat him, but he felt compelled to say it anyway, as if he’s been thinking about his first family all this time and needed to get it all out before he dies. And Zeke is caught off guard by this hug - a hug he has seen him give Eren countless times. Even amidst all the chaos and the children Grisha murdered and broke down over just seconds ago, it all pales in comparison to the utter guilt he feels regarding his first son.
    And Eren is purposely staring at Zeke and letting him have this moment he’s always wanted with his father before it all goes to hell.
    The most I’ve ever cried for anything in fiction, ever. Thank you Mappa staff, thank you Isayama. AoT is something else

    • @Defrath
      @Defrath 2 роки тому +168

      Just a correction: Grisha likely did know that Zeke would hear it, hence why he was able to see him. Grisha was viewing Eren's memory of this event, so he is actually aware that Zeke is technically present and will hear his apology.

    Everything about this scene was perfect, the animation, the VA, the music- absolutely phenomenal.

    This feels like Eren's villain theme... Great work as always!

    That melody that starts at 0.50 sounds like a tragic version of " Mia and Sebastian's theme" from La La Land ahah

    I love how when Grisha hugged Zeke. Zeke was still left in utter shock and disbelief over what he was witnessing.
    He just couldn't believe that the man that once tried to use him and never showed him any love or affection had changed so much and still thought about his first son and wished that he could be with him again and fix everything that he did wrong.
    Zeke was still trying to hold on to that hatred against the poor man but he finally gave in to his emotions and for the first time in years started calling him "his father" again.

    When an episode based on flashbacks is arguably one of the best episodes.

    Samuel Kim has used the same title as me for this theme. Excited that The Paths have done their job 😌
