If you want your skin to look fresh and glowing. Here are some tips that can help:
    - Hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of water: Keeping your body hydrated is crucial for achieving plump and fresh skin.
    - Maintain a healthy diet: Fruits, veggies, and whole grains are your friends! Nourish your skin from within with these nutrient-rich foods.
    - Use a gentle cleanser: Don't strip your skin of its natural oils with harsh face wash. Search for a gentle option that won't cause irritation. My go-to is litlextra ricebeery face wash cleanser, known for its gentleness and containing black rice water, which is beneficial for the skin.
    - Ensure you get sufficient sleep: Don't underestimate the power of deep sleep! Adequate rest can contribute to brighter, more refreshed-looking skin.
    - Exfoliate: Exfoliate to unveil brighter, fresher-looking skin. But don't overdo it - since it can lead to irritation.
    - Moisturize: Choose a moisturizer suitable for your skin type to maintain hydration and suppleness.
    - Shield your skin from harmful UV rays: Exposure to the sun can result in premature aging and dull skin. Wear sunscreen every day and avoid too much direct sunlight.

I’ve just started making my own skin care after YEARS of using Mary Kay. At 56 my skin looks old and wrinkly and I have a high toxicity level in my blood. I’ve learned how to detox my liver using castor oil, and that led me down this path of natural skin care using homemade products. Thank you so much for the recipe and I will let you know how it goes.

I started using castile soap and vinager on my hair. I got through the transition and my scalp has improved hugely. I had big sores but those have gone. It's still a bit flaky but I'm just giving it more time, i figure it was so bad it just needs more time. Occasionally i make a linseed gel and rosemary essential oil to treat my scalp, but lately I've been slack as I've been short on time. I think mu hair loss has improved a lot too, I still kind of loose a fair bit but the spot that was starting to thin noticeably seems to have thickened up again. I would love to try this natural homemade face cleanser. Mine is natural store bought, but I'd like to just make my own. I haven't hit peak making my own castile soap level yet, but maybe one day it's on my radar. 😊 i also transitioned on my deodorant. It was pretty gross at first and my skin didn't seem to like the baking soda in the deodorant i bought. But i managed to find a local brand that works great and uses tapioca starch instead of baking soda. There's other natural things in there too. Works great, no stink.

I’ve noticed that your dresser and nightstand are the same or very similar color which matches the colors on my bedroom comforter. I cannot find a color similar. May I please know the color and brand of the paint you used? I thought I saw you used Heritage paint for the front door but might be wrong. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Great crunchy DIY recipe! I make my own skincare, and crunchy is the term used for very basic and "natural". I actually find castle soap to strong for me usually. I may give this brand a try. If you have sensitive skin I would stay away from using essential oil. Remember just because it is "natural" it can still harm. People use to rub essential oils on the skin until they realized it would actually burn. I have also been one on those who could not use natural deodorant with baking soda, because the baking soda would change the ph of my skin and cause a rash. I love your videos and natural approach. It is shocking some of the ingredients that are put into most skincare.

    I don't hear a NJ/NY accent and I am from NJ.
I used to make a facial cleanser for myself. I had terrible adult acne. It made my skin more oily so I had to give up and look for sustainable organic companies to help. Using a Vitamin B oil got rid of it. I needed to double cleanse (with an oil cleanser and exfoliating cleanser). I really like learning about different people's approaches to skincare. I love that you used honey in this!!! That is so cool. It does look similarly to what I use even. I'd try your cleanser, but I've been successful with no acne for 8 years with what I have been using. Your skin looks amazing!

I recently bought a couple of different scalp scrubs on etsy, and they're very interesting. I was concerned because I sometimes use dry shampoo (not spray, but powder, from an etsy shop) and don't want my follicles getting clogged up. But now I'm wondering if I can just use any body scrub on the scalp. hmmm. I'm not wanting to be scrubbing hard, just gently.

Forgive the possibly dumb question, when you mentioned goat's milk and tallow, did you mean consuming these or applying them directly to the skin?

I made this cleanser and I’m really liking it! I was using homemade goat soap before, which gave me a great complexion, but it was a little drying.

Would cutting the castile with aloe in a formula that already includes water be risk factor for bacterial growth?

Lea, I have to tell you - I have been double-cleansing my face at night with organic olive oil, with good results, but this recipe had me so curious! So I made up some in a regular jar. Oh, how nice it is! It's so soothing and lovely, now I have a dilemma: do I continue with what has been working well for me, or do I use this new cleanser? :D Thank you for sharing, and I look forward to your next recipe. xo

Would you recommend removing make up with coconut oil first?

I know you said it should last about a month, however I’m wondering when you can tell it is no longer good to use? Does it look a certain way/smell a certain way?

It will smell rancid. You can tell right away. I only had the issue once and it made my face break out. Other than that, it lasts for a while

Sister, do you use sunscreen, or a natural sunscreen you could recommend?

    • @LittleHouseOnTheMountain
      @LittleHouseOnTheMountain  11 місяців тому +9

I don't. I mix carrot seed or raspberry seed oil in my daily face oil during the summer. If I were to use one, I'd go with a mineral sunscreen

You can make sun-screen out of zinc-oxide and coconut oil.

Which ingredient is used as a preservative? Natural ingredients do go rancid and bacteria can breed especially if water is in the mix.

I just quit using foundation about 3 weeks ago. I am already seeing a difference in my skin. I’m 56 and have been trying to cover up these freckles since I was a young teen. Now, I just want healthier skin. What damage we do to ourselves for vanity’s sake! Thank you for the encouragement!!!

What about going from a natural product to a DIY product? I stopped using products like Neutrogena "natural" one to one that doesn't have fragrance in it synthetic that is.
