- We show the 3157 LED SWITCHBACK BULBS WHITE TO AMBER made by JDMastar on this DODGE DAKOTA R/T pickup truck. We review these LED bulbs and install these on the headlights of this dodge dakota 5.9L R/T pickup truck. The truck comes with incandescent halogen bulbs normally but we are bringing this truck up to date with newer LED lighting technology for a more modern look. These 3157 bulb type LED switchback bulbs change from a bright white color to amber when the turn signal or the emergency lights are engaged. This type of technology is usually only available on more expensive factory lights but JDMastar is bringing it to older vehicles and many different applications!

I've been running these types of jdmastar bulbs in all my cars since 2016 I haven't had an issue, they're still working perfectly. I'm actually surprised , not going to lie.

Finally someone else made affordable Switchbacks that function correctly. The old ones used to blink white then amber when your turn signal was on. Which is technically illegal. But these fiction the way they should. White turns off then only blinks Amber with the turn signal activated 👍

BoostedMotorsports shouldn’t the white leds stay lit while using the turn signal. Go white, amber, white amber. Not just amber?
I love these lights! I have a 2008 Saturn Aura and I just intalled the Hikari High Beams and the Cougar Low Beams in my car and they put out a TON of light! I rarely use my high beams because the low beams are so good! I bought the 3157 switchbacks and what I find really cool is when I remote start my car they will still show up as orange but when I turn the key they will turn white for the DRL which is interesting. Thankfully, I didn't need a resistor as I can't splice to save my life.
Those switchbacks make the truck look nice!
Love the videos making me not regret getting a second gen Dakota though it needs some rust repair still worth it in my opinion

Ok so apparently my stock relay was toast! Picked up a new relay at orielys and they work flawlessly! Just need to upgrade my headlights and dogs to led to complete the look thanks for your awesome videos bro! Really excited to find someone putting out quality info on these awesome trucks

Was your turn signal working when you first the bulbs in? I can’t signal is it because of my relay?
I use 1 switchback and 1 normal white LED on each side. When turn signal engages, the switchback blinks, and the white LED remains white. Cool alternative
What the best way to get rid of gap when you have a aftermarket headlight unit.. I got bad gaps on my headlights on my durango
I just installed them on my 99 r/t and now I got a rapid flash and a screaming relay when I engage turn signals hopefully it’s just a bad relay

Anyone able to advise me... Want this type of thing but to work on my reverse lights and rear turn signals. So they would be just turn signals until I go into reverse then they switch that way over but potentially have the over ride so if I am signaling then which ever way Is engaged to signal stays on signal but other bulb switches?

Do you have to have the parking lights on for the drl to work? Or will they turn on as a drl?
I originally dont have DRL. I used leds that came with resistors. I dont have hyper flash, i have problem that while my parking lights are on (white led), when i turn on turn light it has a delay. Like normal turn light blinks twice while these led blinks only once. And it has a small delay while switching to orange/amber. It goes a bit white then amber.
How can I fix it?

Did you have to add a load resistor? I bought the switchbacks but when I plug 2 on one side, one turns on the other doesn’t, I assume because the wiring is connected.

Hey man great video I just bought these bulbs for my 2003 ram 1500 but befor I installed I realized that I have bulb shields on my turning signal side of my new headlight housing. My question is will they work with the shield still Intact or could I remove it?
I would use it with the shield. These are super bright. I’ll be installing them on my 3rd gen next for you guys in a video so make sure you’re subscribed 💪

J Stokes I dont think so, only for the headlights you have to add an anti-flick capacitor. Boosted did the whole led conversion on the 4th gen ram its on his yt vids.

Are you sure the stock bulbs aren't just regular incandescent bulbs? A halogen bulb is filled with a mixture of an inert gas and a small amount of a halogen such as iodine or bromine that enables a halogen cycle chemical reaction which redeposits the evaporated tungsten back onto the filament for longer life. Usually halogen bulbs are found in headlights, fog lights and in some applications, cornering lights.

I. Guessing u didn't show the turn signal because the hyper flashing due to the led
3:52 all that light that you're impressed by in your switchbacks is useless to the driver because the hood-line blocks the road being lit up in that 'hot zone'.
Sure, as a pedestrian walking in front of your truck, they'll be blinded by the light if they look at your parking lights but if they look straight down at the road, they'll be able to see their contact lenses on the road should they pop out of their head from squinting so bad at the blinding light. Pretty sure Five-O will be really impressed on a dark back road though.

I know the switch is different on 99+ but that’s stock. It’s a dial type switch but I think on the knob one you have you should be able to just pull it one click out or halfway for running lights

1:23 Those are not amber Halogen bulbs. If they were they would have a smaller glass capsule inside the larger weak glass of those standard tungsten bulbs. Halogen bulbs run much hotter an always have a much smaller glass bulb.

Thank you for not turning your Dakota into a mobile sun, so many people want LED conversion and get hyped about how bright they get but don't realize it can blind other drivers making it impossible to see the road at night. It's all about that balance between finding the improvement in light output and too much light output.
