1:03:15 That problem is kinda solved. The company that makes adapters for retro consoles and modern controles (Brook I believe), made an adapter for Dreamcast/Saturn to use your latest controllers and sticks. It also works as a VMU. They recently added a function that allows you to import and export game saves with a computer. So I grabbed a fully completed save of Japanese MVC2 from the Internet, loaded it into the adaptar, and boom, now all the characters are unlocked. No need to suffer to play online or on an arcade machine haha. It is a nice solution, for an imposible requirement to unlock these characters.
Just discovered this channel, as someone who used to live in Tokyo and frequently goes to Akiba whenever I'm bored these retro game hunts really brought me back! Thanks for the memories Jim!
It still blows my mind how expensive games are in the us vs Japan. The 64 and snes are comon and popular yet we still pay insane prices here in the states
I spotted PuyoPuyo Sun! I am not a big fan of fast paced puzzle games, but I wanted to have a title in the series for my collection. It is alright, I just need to get more practiced with it, and I will enjoy it more.
Dear Jim I really enjoy your videos thanks a lot for all your work ,Im Famicom collector CIB and as a tourist you know we cannot go Japan right now to do retro hunting, Is possible make a video focus only in Famicom boxes and prices in the 2021 from all the shops in Akihabara that will be very interesting to see right now and all the new stock they have in rare and expensive games, if you could do that I and many of my friends from the Famicom collector community will appreciate very much, thanks a lot, your channel and style is awesome!!!!
Currently planning my next trip to Japan. I plan on going to Tokyo and Osaka. Have you ever been to any game stores in Osaka? I love Bookoff as I find their prices reasonable and I love their bargain / untested boxes, so far that's all I've pinned to check.
God PCE/TG16 is so good. Just got a TG16 but I also emulate and the library is amazing. Thanks for the reccomendations like Shock Man! CD is even better lol
Love the videos mate! Binge watching them as I am going to Tokyo for my 40th in May. Any suggestions for a good place to go for my birthday for dinner? (gaming/beer related)
Hi-Score would be a good choice. It's in Kichijoji, they serve excellent burgers, have an assortment of craft beers, and some classic arcade games to play. Otherwise, maybe do a gaming pub crawl in Shinjuku, starting with Exbar, then 8-bit Cafe, and finally Star Club.
@MadPanicGaming it's temporarily closed 😢. Any other recommendations? Thanks 🙏 I'm going in October. Also, is it ok if I share my retro game store list with you to get your thoughts on it? Thank you 🙏
Another nice video Jim and really nice to see those Gameboy games. I have the Japanese version of Nemesis II, bought it back in the day here in Europe at a local toy store. (according to the store it was hard to get stock on certain pal games at that time and they decided to imported the Japanese versions). Question do you have experience in sending packages from Japan to Europe and what the rates would be or where I could find good postage/package rates?
Giga Wing Generations is a different game, not a compilation of 1 & 2 - the last game made by Takumi before they disappeared...great games, I miss Takumi
Can't you get the points in Marvel vs Capcom 2 from the training menu? I remember just leaving it running to get the points because they accumulate over time. On the NA version anyway.
The Japanese version of MvC2 on the Dreamcast requires points from 3 places. Playing offline in arcade mode, gets you a third of the secret characters. The second method is playing on an authentic mvc2 arcade machine and plugging your vmu to collect points. The last one is to play online matches, which is impossible since the Dreamcast officially hasn’t worked online for almost 2 decades. They fixed that on the NA version so the requirements are easier.
What’s the name of the last store you visited? (The one with all the games in the plastic cases). I went to Tokyo in November 2019 and I never visited this place and next time I go back, I want to check it out. Thanks!
I remember being impressed at how these stores have the games in such pristine condition.

I was unable to beat the 2nd or 3rd boss in bloodstained. And mad that I sold it to a coworker at the time.
Hope you're staying safe, Jim!
I would love to always see where on the map the store is
That way people use this vids for planning their japan visit
Very solid idea

Are there ever any Shooter PCBs laying around these stores? Like Pink Sweets, Akai Katana, Mushihisama.
@@dangunheadachron1603 No so I can play them as they where intended. And it would be interesting to see not Ebay prices.
