      basically a true gamer does not require to collect games, it's not how many games you have, even with one game as long you played it like there's no tomorrow, then your totally a gamer, not a collector..

    • @WildApple_OP-Plays
      @WildApple_OP-Plays 7 років тому +1

      Yes, that's right. A true gamer plays games. Because collector doesn't mean, that he is actually a (real) gamer/plays these collected games.

    Can't stop watching this video I'm 41. So we grew up around the same time but in New Jersey USA. I was a Sega guy as well when everybody around me was NES. I had all of the systems back in the day but of course they were very expensive and I was a kid so I had to trade them in to get newer stuff so I live through your videos. I have a pretty good collection but more modern than retro. I would love someday to see your amazing collection. Like I say we're gamers and gamers don't play systems they play games. Love your vid's keep up the great work can't wait to see the finished games room. 🤙🏻🎮👾🙌🏻

    God damn. I would say open this up as some sort of game library where people can pay to enter and then play whatever they want, but I'd personally be too scared of the consequences. People could end up breaking stuff, scratching, cracking, stealing, etc. I suppose it'll have to be left this way...

    I have to say Last Gamer, You are quite the man. Many people around me don't find it appealing to collect video games or consoles unlike my father. My father is currently going through a very rough time and after I showed him this video, He wanted to sit down and watch the entire thing. He was aweing at everything alongside acting like a kid at some of the selections you had constantly going "Wow" and "My god, What a dream" and "If I won the lottery...". I know it may sound stupid but you did help us grow even closer. Thank you.

    I remember it clearly, it was Friday and I was at work when this video was released. Thought would leave early but then remembered I had to attend a party of my friend in the evening. So after work I directly went to attend the party, and when it was time to leave it was well past midnight. So I got home & thought would watch this this in one go but was too tired & couldn't keep my eyes open. So I feel sleep while this video was running in the background.
    Next day I got and as it was Saturday I had my day off so I sat down with my breakfast, put this video on & watched it all in go till the end. Time just flew by & it was so overwhelming talking all of this. Really can't wait for other tours & videos, exciting times ahead!

    Awesome video Joel! So much nostalgia came back to me watching this. C64, Amiga 500, Master System, Megadrive, Neo-Geo etc etc. Those Japanese prices were huge back in the day. My friend had a Super Famicom and because this game was the biggest game in the world at the time and we didn't want to wait for the PAL version, he got Street Fighter 2 for $220 lol...
    Btw Super R-Type is R-Type 2. Thanks for the great memories Joel :)

    I started to really collect retro consoles and computers just over 10 years ago and have spent a ton of cash to get working systems and such...I purchased 3 separate Commodore SX64's before I could have one working system...I can not even imagine the investment you have made. Much of what I purchased is in my classroom at the school where I teach, for I intermittently setup a retro system for kids to experience and play...along with having an introductory game making course. Many of your glass showcases I also have as well(Jysk), I am very impressed...I have somewhat slowed down my rate of collecting since my wife absolutely dislikes anything related to gaming, but it's still a very big part of my past and even present existance. It's also funny that you sort of started with the C64--Amiga---etc while I took the Atari 2600-Atari 8 bit computers-Atari ST-Amiga--- route...I think many from our generation started this way...first pirating computer games then becoming collectors of some sort ..so I am also wondering if you originally ignored many of the 8 and 16 bit consoles during the Amiga era, since you were so busy and happy with your Amiga back in the day, and collected many of the consoles much later...this is the path I chose, and started to collect Genesis and Snes consoles first when I saw the Amiga ports created for them. I used to work in a local Radio Shack where we sold Genesis, Turbo Express, Sega Game Gear and Turbo Grafx systems .Like yourself, I absolutely adore the Sharp X68000(very Amigaish to me), the Neo Geo I still think is an incredible piece of hardware...especially since it's circa 1990 I believe and I also have a very special respect for the PC Engine that I think was massively ahead of its time...the ability of that compact console still boggles me today...I wonder if most Dreamcast and Smart Phone owners know that the graphic processors on their devices evolved originally from the earlier chipsets used in the PC engine my NEC? Very cool. Walking through your store to people such as myself is simply Disneyland...thanks for the video...very cool. I hope most viewers understand that the cost and time spent on your amazing, yet still unfinished museum is 100 percent passion for true gaming "past and future"...something many gamers take for granted. Perhaps when I retire from teaching, I will start restoring like yourself...a very honorable trade.

      No amount of clever buying will get you this. Joel is rich by any reasonable definition. How many of us have games like this, collect sports cars, have a cinema room etc? I think carefully before I buy ONE game. Joel goes out and buys 30 or 60. This is not criticism, I'm just being realistic.

    • @simon41978
      @simon41978 7 років тому +10

      Firstly, thanks for the tour, Joel.
      @boob The expenditure needed for all of this makes him rich, period.
      Having investments which enable him to do this makes him rich.
      His lifestyle is not common practice. Again, how many high-end sports cars have you collected?
      It's part of the reason why I watch the channel - it's like a fantasy.
      He went shopping for a large tv and came back with four. If a normal person did this it would be suicide.

    • @gradygilchrist4923
      @gradygilchrist4923 7 років тому

      Simon Woods Hes loaded but why is that a bad thing? Its not and Joel should never be ashamed because who cares, he lives a life we all want. I seen his high end cars and the size of his home is massive. Will he ever say how he obtained the cash? I doubt it.

    • @Juganawt
      @Juganawt 7 років тому +7

      You see a guy with a GTR in the front yard that can afford several hundred Neo Geo games in one batch (some of which cost several thousand pounds EACH), and yeah, you know he's rich....but from the sounds of it, he's had to work hard to get every cent, so fair play to him.

    • @simon41978
      @simon41978 7 років тому +8

      @ Grady Gilchrist.
      You're misrepresenting what I said. I never said it's a bad thing. I don't see any sense in denying he's rich and just wanted to point out that this lifestyle is impossible for nearly everyone due to lack of funds. Again, I'm not saying it's morally wrong. Honestly, I found Joel's refusal to admit he's rich/wealthy a bit odd.
