- BIG expansion chamber exhaust! 36-38hp ^^ wowh. i am a huge fan of box exhaust as you know, but of course its also fun trying a big one again :P the performance is brutal, the sound very cool YES indeed! but honestly with the ingenious quattrini: its TOO MUCH power in the end, you dont need it. you have to be very carefully with your gas hand in every gear. #sipPERFORMANCE #quattrini #M244
even tought the sip perf 2 is the strongest in low rev, it is too weak (for me at least), cause i need 4 working gears, i do want to cruise in the 4th gear uphill, box can do, big exp can not.
but thats what it is: you always pay for high end power with less power in low rev. see the curves: 4:00 sip road 3, the huge PLUS of torque till 7000rpm (90gps 3rd, 118 gps 4th) is what you need for not only cruising comfortable but also to be fast :P
and also see 2:02 straight ahead, flat just a bit of head wind, and 4th gear gets lame. you need to go back to third and squeeze it out.
see 2:19, uphill, even tough you have a lot of power (from 7000 on then) you are powerwise reduced to an average engine power 17-20hp (nearlly only pnp power) in 4th gear between 5000 and 6000 (gps 82kmh - 100kmh, an important area)
torque makes fast, not high end power, why?
torque is available in all 4 gears as you always have low revs, do you.
a lot of power in high revs, is only available in 1st and 2nd gear ;o))
you dont reach this area anymore in 3rd and 4th gear.
conclusion:
expansion chamber exhaust sounds and looks mature, it will give you a lot of power on the dyno, will make you look and sound cool in front of your ice & coffee shop BUT for touring, it is not the first choice. a torque oriented modern box exhaust is the better option. You will be even faster on tour, not only less gear switching but also definitely less fuel consumption ;)
the look backwards / why exp ch exhausts are "a must have" :
Till 2009 there were only available
Original / sito+ / t5 exhaust / expansion chamber (taffspeed, readspeed, pm etc) available. TUNING meant also big exhaust ;)
2020: a wide range of different modern box exhaust with incredible power are available. you were first row when you had 20hp with big carb and reed Valve of course, as the SI power was an unknown secret.

And tha's exactly why i am haven a box exhaust. Riding with the boy's same setup my 210 with box is faster due to TORQUE! (though like the looks a big one wil hit the ground.
Sounds awesome. Just building a 244 with 64mm stroke (260) thinking of a sip 2.0 or DSE can’t decide any preference? I know you love the box. Great videos 😊😊
get sip v2 (cheap) then cpmpare with a polinibox and u see what i mean. U gonna stick to the box, my bet.
With 244 reed and box finally gives u a fourth gear outside town in the hills, also uphill, till now we had to squeeze 3rd all the time. Expansiom might/will take this advantage

no. si carbs are not for reed valve.
@@FreakMoPed8 No sorry I mean rotary valve set up not reed, quattrini 244 with 24mm si and Sip perfomance 2.0 pipe, would the 24mm still work with this big expansion chamber?

kindof, but to be fair, till 10y ago there was only original, sito+ and expansion chamber exhaust. Guess people need to get used to the new powerfull options
HI Mista, you have probably mentioned it before, so I guess a Malossi 172 would be more practical with a good box exhaust? (with the right set up, of course?)
yes. t5 only has bigger transfer ports, its still a vespa engine. Same as px. The super vodoo us a myth. u also need to set intake timings (if rotary) cylinder timings and exhaust port shape and width. 118/176 cyl. 190 intake with 0,05mm rotary calve tolerance. 65% ex port. Always the same recipe 😃 i would take a polinibox.

forget the old XL its outdated. In thr as we see what well developed boxes are capable for: it was never a good exhaust.
sip road 3 is the better XL

Sure! But it also depends on the teansmission + seize and weight of the driver. the kg/cm effect is big. polinibox made 138 at a quick test
