“I have all the time in the world to tune the system.”
SAID NO ONE EVER.
In live events time is always of the essence. The truck was late, it didn’t have all the gear you needed, soundcheck got moved up, and now your tuning window magically went from one hour to 15 minutes.
We of course don’t want to rush and make mistakes, but we do want to move quickly and efficiently. True professionals operate with precision and speed and the number one way to accelerate that in Smaart (other than knowing the fundamentals backwards and forwards) is with this utterly groundbreaking concept.
Hotkeys.
That just rocked your world, right?
There’s nothing new under the sun, but it blows my mind how much they remain underutilized given how much time they save.
Today I’ll show you:
- Four ONE HANDED key commands you need to know to start and capture a measurement in less than two seconds
- Four data manipulation key commands to analyze measurements quickly

Nice video. I did know all the short keys and use them every time. No one ever said I am quick. But I tune mostly in Germany, so efficient working is a must and expected. 😅😉
Thanks for the tips. I use most of those shortcuts, but D was a new one for me. It would also be good to walk through the timer/macro function. I tried it in church one time but found I had mixed results. I don't think the delay locator worked quickly enough to set the delay before trying to capture the measurement. So I went back to the old 'run back and forth to move the microphone and capture'.
Thanks for clarifying all this Michael, much appreciated🙏🏼
Very helpful tips to move faster under pressure. Thanks a lot Michael!
Thanks for explaining ❤
Great tips yo!
Thank you !
This was a great refresher from the class a few weeks ago!
Thanks, Kitzy! Was great to meet you in person in CT.

thanks a lot!
Thank you for your video! Will you also give an overview to the new Data Modeler by any chance? Maybe with some examples from your past shows? Kind regards!
Yes, it's coming!
Hi. Wondering if u can do a review / test on an app called IEQ Pro using an iPad and a Dayton Reference Microphone to auto eq a room? Would love to see if it’s useful compared to your pro way of using Smaart. Thanks in advance.
Hi Michael, when measuring a collumn array speaker, where should I put the measurement microphone at since the tops are very far from the sub and there are many drivers at the array.
I would take multiple measurements from front to back and make any needed adjustments according to processing capabilities to make things more even.
Aloha, Micheal Love your Videos…i got a question on crossovers…For my Tops i got some yamaha Dxr12 and for subs i got the yamaha Xlf 15s…what would be an ideal crossover point…i know its the same brand but been having a hard time trying to find a smooth transition between the top speakers…Mahalos Nainoa 🤙🏼
