- Hey everyone! In this video I literally kicked my old gaming chair to the curb and purchased the Staples Hyken Ergonomic Task Chair. This is my review so far after a few weeks with the new chair and I'm going to talk to talk to you about why you should probably consider getting rid of your gaming chair for an ergonomic office chair. I just bought the Hyken and Staples had it on sale for $179.99. I bought it w/o hesitation. What I like about it? It's mesh so it's cool in the summertime. The recline function can be set in a position that you choose. It has a headrest also mesh that I like.
I liked the first Hyken so much, a couple years into it I just bought a second one. Most comfortable chair I ever had. It lasts without damage (strong mesh that doesn't get stretched) and I can sit in it all day long. Highly ergonomic. Love the lower back support that digs in right in the "spot" to keep it relaxed. Never will I buy a typical gaming chair again. --- These chairs are on display in every Staples so those interested, go sit in one. [you don't have to put the headrest on if you don't want it]
You can raise and lower the headrest. If you look closely, it has a channel to move in. It's very stiff at first, but once you move it a few times it loosens up.
I had that mesh chair from Staples for 7 years and loved it. I did remove the arm rests so I could play guitar on it. The piston went bad and someone wisely snatched it from my alley when I threw it out. I should have just gotten a new piston in retrospect. I got a cheap Staples fabric task chair that kills my butt. I wish I never threw it away.
Update - I did buy the red/maroon Hyken mesh chair 2 weeks ago on-sale at Walmart for $189. Staples had it at full price at $270. Funny thing is when Walmart had it delivered they did so in a Staples truck, LOL. I love this chair. I seat mount on mine leaned to the right a bit, so I added a couple washers to the right side seat bolts and now it's level.
Picked this up for 150 and dumped my gaming chair! Thanks!
Also, don't forget the Staples Dexley chair. Similar to the Staples Hyken but a little bigger.
Nailed it when talking about height. I'm 6'1 and decided to check out this chair: in my case the headrest is definitely more of a neck rest than anything.

@@Rexxarax1 I went with a Serta office chair: couldn't tell you the model name but the backrest was far better and the leg support was better too.
I have a nice looking IKEA chair lol that hurts my back from slouching back to play COD. I just picked up the staples brand Emerge Vartan and it reclines. I haven't opened box yet but sat in it for a hour in the store. It leans back and seems better than the IKEA, paid $150 price match online, they list it for $329... I sat in a mesh that felt comfortable but difficult recline feature
Are you sure you didn't just turn the tension knob the wrong way? On my chair the max tension is definitely noticeably harder to move.
My cat loves to sit on my chair and occasionally dig it’s nails for a stretch. Will the mesh on the Hyken be durable enough for pets?
Hmmm that's a good question I don't have any pets but my guess is there is a possibility for the mesh to start ripping if cat's nails constantly poke through it.
I have a gaming chair I've had for two years never again will I buy another one. I have back problems ever since. Never had one when I had an office chair.
Yeah, gaming chair does nothing for gaming. And it is hot and heavy to boot.

Edit 8/30: i got the staples dexlyn chair and it homestly was the best choice. Lumbar dupport and headrest (both adjustable) and nice for long sitting!

Real talk. Gaming chairs are fine. If you get a shitty/off brand one, you get what you pay for just like anything else. With that said, ergo chairs are nice, but same thing. Legit the only people I have ever seen complain about their gaming chair, bought an off brand one, or one that wasn't their size and just thought it looked cool. Secret labs, dx racer are the best ones, just research and make sure you get the right one if you still want one. Don't cheap out.
Both of those companies you mentioned make overrated chairs.
The reason why don't you see any complaints about it, is because they censor negative reviews and heavily market their products. The chairs they sell are mass produced by Chinese OEMs and hardly unique.
Any smart person would invest in a high end office chair, only idiots buy gaming chairs in 2022.

Not sure if you fixed it yet, but you could glue it, I’d recommend some industrial shit like E6000 or something comparable.
After checking my tube, maybe don’t use E6000, but Loctite super glue instead

I broke a racing chair and a random office chair from Staples.
My back hurts too much to the game due to using a kitchen chair all wood.
Do you have any suggestions for me? I have $300 or fewer budget.
20" of height seems short for my desk, so maybe 25" or greater would be perfect
Not a great budget for a specimen of your height unfortunately.
The only chairs I could recommend for that budget are not going to fit you well.
Get the Dexley instead. Same brand, different model. Dexley is meant for tall people. However, it doesn't recline as far back.
The lumbar support on this chair is killing my lower back. It digs into your lower back like no tomorrow.
