I live in Melbourne, but I've always wanted to move to Europe permanently. After watching this, it made me want to stay in Melbourne forever! This would be absolutely the best ad out there, showing the beautiful qualities of Melbourne. One key ingredient missing is AFL though. But oh well, there is so much about Melbourne that is so beautifully undiscovered, that its impossible to put it all in a 3 min video, you would need an hour video to show everything, if not longer! Nice work!
The HDR and post processing helps make this video stand out!! It creates a beautiful hyper realism effect. If you don't like it then enjoy the 99% of other time lapses that are shot normally. But these one has the edge. Congrats on hitting 10,000 views!!!!!!
I wish to say that you did a fantastic job. I live in Brisbane but travel to Melbourne regularly for work. You have filmed some of my favourite places and shown them in an amazing way with the HDR. Well done.
Thanks Sujeeth, I'm really glad you like it :) It was interesting to find the right angles to capture the uni... and also for half of the day there were no clouds, so I was getting pretty worried :-D
thanks so much for the kind comment and you are right... would be an interesting challenge to capture all aspects of the city... might put my mind to it ;)
Just awesome work bro ~ hats off to your patience ! Loved the way u shot our Uni Deakin too ! Am gonna post on my facebook for people in my place to see Melbourne !
yeah, tell me about it :) Thanks for sharing the experience, because few believe just how long it actually takes to just process the HDR... my computer was almost coughing blood at the end of the process :-D
Hi Filip, this is awsome effort... can you tell me what have you used for motion timelapse photography and do you have any tutorial or making of this video.
Hi Daaaaaannnnnnyal, will keep that in mind... this time I'm trying to get different sorts of movements, including panning and tilting... hopefully should be up within two weeks, stay tuned :)
I'm using the Kessler CineSlider with the Oracle Controller... it is a pretty awesome piece of gear, but the only downside is that it is pretty heavy if you wanna travel larger distances on foot - which when shooting in the city might be expected :-D
thanks guys for all the comments :) Actually the waiting in the rain was the worst... like in that timelapse with fireworks I got rained on full on for about 40 minutes, got completely soaked and thought that this better be worth it :-D And HDR.... that is probably a matter of taste, I used to love subtle colors and BW photography, but these alleys and little hidden gems in Melbourne made me feel that passionate color might better capture the spirit of this city...
wow that was amazing @ 2:23 - 2:27, was that the Fireworks display that's on every Friday night at 7pm in Docklands ?. Also great video, Melbourne surely is the no.1 city in the world :)
Awesome Video! but I think if you maybe have used a ND filter and a longer exposure at the waterfall and the sea it would be even better, cause then the water is a bit blury and looks (in my opinion) better.
Nice work - r u wiling to share more on the workflow and software used to post process? keen on HDR but my limited experience points huge files and lengthy post pro - any tips would be great....btw got the link via my canon 'like' on FB :)
Huge fan of the long exposure and dolly work, but I have to say the HDR effect is ruins it for me. I think you've pushed it a little too far, evident by the 'halo' effect in the clouds. What dolly are you using?
Hey Filip, truly stunning footage, would it be possible to get permission yo use some of it in a independent music film clip, full credit to you of course
Hi Bush, that might be possible. Please do sent me an email with the description of the project, you'll find it on my website (not putting it here because of spam stuff...)
Hey, Filip. I just wanted to put in some constructive criticism for your next piece. The really diagonal shots didn't look so good (mainly the construction site one, the alley one looked good.), they looked a bit unprofessional, in contrast to the rest of the piece.
Out-fucking-standing
You've made Melbourne look as good as she is, and you have painted her with light...Bravo!
thank you so much for the kind words! Melbourne is pretty awesome, a good inspiration :)

Very well done Filip, I hope you'll share some of your techniques with us in the future.
Also, you should definitely submit this to the State Gov. This is perfect as an ad for Melbourne!

Hello, very nice time lapse HDR...!
This city is my dream.
Bloody Amazing :D Great Job!!

Great stuff!

thanks guys for all the comments :) Actually the waiting in the rain was the worst... like in that timelapse with fireworks I got rained on full on for about 40 minutes, got completely soaked and thought that this better be worth it :-D And HDR.... that is probably a matter of taste, I used to love subtle colors and BW photography, but these alleys and little hidden gems in Melbourne made me feel that passionate color might better capture the spirit of this city...
Hi Benjimaster, it's in Docklands, right behind the Etihad stadium, such a lovely spot :)
wow that was amazing @ 2:23 - 2:27, was that the Fireworks display that's on every Friday night at 7pm in Docklands ?. Also great video, Melbourne surely is the no.1 city in the world :)
Bloody brilliant. I was thinking of doing something incredibly similar to this a little while back. May I ask what gear you used?
Awesome Video! but I think if you maybe have used a ND filter and a longer exposure at the waterfall and the sea it would be even better, cause then the water is a bit blury and looks (in my opinion) better.
thank you for the kind words :)
Nice video and music
This is so amazing... how long did this take? I'm sure it was well worth the effort.
amazing..
Looks amazing! what are you using to move the camera?
Nice work - r u wiling to share more on the workflow and software used to post process? keen on HDR but my limited experience points huge files and lengthy post pro - any tips would be great....btw got the link via my canon 'like' on FB :)
thanks, I really appreciate it, might look into that :)
Wonderful, well done :)
awesome!
how do you do the dolly shots while taking the pictures ?
What is the music? It is perfect for this video! Well done!
Such patience!! How many packs of ciggies did you burn through?
Ahh HDR.... So it was from stills? not video sped up?
Nice images!
Awesome :D
Amazing
Great stuff Filip , i have a whole lot of music if you ever need any for background /soundtrack
Cheers Ian
What tool did you use during the timelapse to make "movement" like the first shot? Thank U!
May I please use some of this footage for a promotion of a work conference that I'm promoting next year?
Hey what gear are you using? Camera/Lenses/Timelapse controller/Slider?
Christ this must have taken ages to shoot... did you use canon scripts for the HDR + Timelapse?
Huge fan of the long exposure and dolly work, but I have to say the HDR effect is ruins it for me. I think you've pushed it a little too far, evident by the 'halo' effect in the clouds.
What dolly are you using?
Great vid!
Anyone know where the frame at 1:42 was taken?
Hey Filip, truly stunning footage, would it be possible to get permission yo use some of it in a independent music film clip, full credit to you of course
Hi Bush, that might be possible. Please do sent me an email with the description of the project, you'll find it on my website (not putting it here because of spam stuff...)
awesome
Wow.
This is how videogames will look like in future
what did you use to do the sliding effect ?
yes
chocolate, lots of chocolate... massive amounts of chocolate :-D
How long did it take to film a single scene?
E P I C
