Is it normal that there's layers to those? like i installed them like in the video, the next day it was loose around the edges. So i pulled it off, leaving the design on the frame but the thicker plastic part came off. Is that wanted or did i do something wrong?
Had to mount my top tube protection slotted end to the front, as my bike has a curve there. If I hadn't the protection would have wrinkled and creased.
I did this and didn’t get enough heat in the wrap. The installation went fine but layers of the wrap began to separate after a few rides. If you use a hairdryer be sure you get it good and toasty
i got this. but the ones that sold me it, the have pilled abit in the thingy so it aint that sticky on the paper it came on, will this still part that aint that sticky still glue to the frame? PLS help :)
I got another bike and am currently installing it. I actually wet the tape with some soapy water. I got that step confused with the 3M tape I installed previously. I hope it doesn't effect it's ability to stick to the surfaces?
I always use hair dryer when installing and removing stickers. Putting on Dyedbro frame protection is more difficult than others. But they have the most extravagant graphics.
In my reasearch entry lvl bikes (cheap bikes) have a terrible paint job because some bikes have no smooth paint layer (just pure paint) Compare to high end bikes with paint jobs usually have a layer protection . The real problem with bike skin is that the paint can be peeled off if your remove your film (especially for cheap bikes or any bike without any paintjob layer) Check first your bike if the dry film doesn't scrape any paint .
I saw a Santa Cruz with pilled-off glossy finish, the seller of the bike said that he tried to remove a protector. So I'm not so sure about "hi-end bikes have some level of protection"
Just finished doing the top tube in my Kenevo. I left the TCU in and set the vinyl wrap on top of it. Once I had the area above and below the TCU adhered to the top tube, I used a box cutter to cut around the edge of the TCU. Then I used a heat gun. No issues. Take your time. No matter what I did, I still had 2 small (1mm) sz bubbles near the seat post. I’m good with it though, just noticeable for us with OCD. ✌🏽
Hi Scotty, When you remove the films, it may leave a glue residue. I find that industrial methylated spirits works well to remove the glue, and not damage the original paintwork. if you don't have that, then use readily available from any pharmacy, Isopropyl alcohol 70%, also works well. (basically like a hand sanitizer....)
They have a matte version. I got that on my Canyon Neuron. Works great. But the downtube strip was clear. Im not sure if that was a mistake, but it defeats the purpose of buying the matte.
Very hard to apply even with a heat gun. I have a new frame and I used ethanol to degrease the surface. I followed all instructions but this protection film unsticks from the edges after few minutes. Sticking back with a heat gun doesn't help. If you overheat it, it can separate in two layers. I wasted money and all day. Low quality. Do not recommend.
Is wet installation possible too? I had very much success with this technique on another bike with another manufacturer's clear frame protector kit.
thanks! it was very easy to install
Can u use vodka and a hair dryer
I want to know this as well
Ha ha ha
🎉
How dare you even think about wasting alcohol 😂
It’s generally recommended to use vodka and a hair dryer after you’re finished unless you’ve just woken up in Russia.
Still the funniest installation video ever XD
Is it safe to use a 300 C heat gun on the frame?
Can I dry my hair with a heat gun??
You can dry your hair even in an oven, but beaware that you might visit a couple of docs afterwards.
*cleans bike with alcohol*
5 seconds later
*touches frame with bare hands*
I just came here again to watch the tutorial and wanted to write the exact same comment lmao

Hi, I just received my downtube protector. Which way should the grooved end go? Toward the BB or Cockpit? Thanks!
Do you need to use a hair dryer? I suppose it is better.
Yes you absolutely have to, it's near impossible to make it smooth on the frame otherwise
Is a hairdryer ok? As I do not have a heat gun
Ok thanks

Can u still aply this to an old frame? Where there might be some scratches and stuff
With most frame protection, you can do it, but it will be very hard to remove any bubbles around the already damaged areas

How did that go?
can you use a hair dryer if you dont have a heat gun?
im thinking the same question. have you tried it yet and if so, has it worked?
@@jasonjpl5301 The hair dryer worked you just need to be pacient and take ur time.
Hi, should I be concerned about using a heat gun on a carbon frame?
Use a hairdryer ;)
Fart on it
@@Nirvezz eat your fart and fart again on the frame. Repeat the process several times
Just google about carbon heat-resistance. (Deffinetely heat-resistant up to 200C if not "tempered")

could a hair dryer work instead of a heat gun?

What is the thickness of this? Can't find it anywhere
My top tube is shorter than the frameprotrector without the extencions
I just installed the clear gloss on the top tube and it looks like crap. Follow your instruction and still bubbles .very unimpressed .
