This is an unboxing and install of the All Mountain Style (AMS) Frame Guard XL frame protection stickers / Tape. I installed this on my 2017 Trek Remedy RSL
*Some observations after applying two sets of AMS to my bikes: They are hard to remove without damaging the designs on patterned stickers. I used the black maze pattern and had to apply to another bike because it didn’t appear on a black bike. Also, the adhesive residue CAN be removed with goo gone and diluted rubbing alcohol. Lastly, I have had good results using a vinyl tool with a straight edge and velvet cover. Less bubbles.*
Don't do this outside in cold weather like dumb me. The tape is much more pliable when it is warm. Most of these instructional/review videos are done outside in sunshine or inside so I should have picked up on that. btw. the extender pieces are supposed to be affixed right next to the long one. the chevron design is to make it easier to align the pieces next to each other as they kind of slip inside and not purely for design.
Hey dude !! It’s just so cool watching your video. I have a Trek Remedy 9 in red just like yours and I’ve got the same frame protectors but camuflaje style. Thanks a lot
Funny thing with the air bubbles, I was quite worried about them as the material is a bit on the thick side to use a needle or pin to pop the bubbles. I left it in the sun where I keep my bike and 2 days later all the bubbles had vanished.
jason mcdonald I sure did. My trek has a big rubber guard pre installed half way down my down tube, so I would have had to chop the main piece up to fit it. The top tubes on my mountain bike always seem to get pretty badly scratched up mainly from rubbing from when I wear knee pad so it seemed appropriate.
Because of your video - thx - I decided to protect my brand-new Rocky Mountain bike with AMS stickers. What did help me mounting it? I heated the frame parts and stickers a little bit with a hairdryer before a used and degreaser spray. With that combination it was really easy to do... And the few little bubbles I had passed away in the sun :-)
Moz On Bikes yep. That far I protected my seat stay l/r, chain stay l/r, both on the sides, then the back side of the seat tube and the top tube. The down tube I do not need because rocky already puts a tick plastic on it. So finally I want to puton the fork shaft AMS protectors that week. But I think AMS is that useful that the new bikes of my twin sons (propain Yuma), which they get in spring 2019 as they grow up further, will be protected too. But probably not with the clear design ;-)
Great video man! I am bit worried about the bubbles, but reading the comments was pleased to know that they vanish overtime. Also, really the music that you used on the video, very relaxing, do you mind to share witch one is? Thanks!
I think for most people that’s the logical location. In this case the bike already had down tube protection an I wanted to protect the top tube as I tend to brush it when wearing knee pads.
Hmm, i don’t think it would survive all that long being bashed by a chain consistently. I think there are better products on the market for chainstay protection.
Great video man and Sweet Bike! I have the same exact bike, think I might install the translucent camo AMS frame guard on mine! The main goal will be to cover up where a painting crew spilled varnish all over the top tube of my bike. During the process of trying to remove it i made it worse. Really bummed about it and just trying to find a way to make it look good without having to repaint the entire frame!
Dustin Blankx in most bikes I would agree. BUT on the Remedy there’s a large integrated down tube protector for half its length already so it’s was not at the top of my concerns list. In fact the first sticker I put on would have to be chopped down to make it fit the remaining tube. I chose to apply it to the top tube as I always tend to scuff that area of paint when wearing knee pads.
Ok that makes sense sorry I’m abit salty because I’m trying to see exactly where to place the downtube protector and most people on UA-cam put on the top because they like the way it looks >.>
No worries. If I were doing what your doing I would put the big sticker as low as possible to the BB, probably really close to the weld (assuming it’s a welded frame, I don’t think the stickers would wrap well across a weld bead) the use the chevron stickers higher up the tube where a rock strike is less likely. I had a specialized big hit once and got a decent dent from a rock strike in Morzine about 100mm up from the bottom bracket.

Jesus christ so many air bubbles i want to cry, seems like it doesnt cover too much kinda weird thought they would have came with way more stickers

😅
Just use a squeegee
You can get different sizes
Cover Buat Frame nya keren bgt... Melindungi sepeda jd lebih aman dr Goresan..... Joooss bgt
Too much branding on these stickers. I'm trying to protect the bike, not be a brand ambassador
With colored pattern AMS, air bubbles arent obvious. Lol love my
Camo.
Is it worth it? Does it protect the downtube?
Uh, did you install it on the top of your toptube for a reason? I thought the longer piece was for the underside of the downtube........

You can do it either way. Look at the bikes on the AMS insta acct.

Yeah it’s funny how some bright sunlight makes the bubbles disappear isn’t it. Heating sounds like a top tip to make them more malleable, cheers. 🍻

Todavia no he visto un tutorial de estas protecciones que no queden burbujas
Will the paintwork of the bike get damage after removing it?

Surely there should be a larger 1 to go under the bottom tube ?

I need this!
Heat gun helps alot
Nice ride, cool idea but those bubbles in the tape would bother the crap out of me. Did they ever go away?
Hi Will, yeah they vanished after a day or so when I left the bike in the sun and warm. I think the frame was a little cold when I installed them.
If you can't get a heatgun then you could actually use a hair dryer for the air bubbles
i totally forgot u can use that tnx
Spray it with alcohol
Super
Is this stuff thick and strong enough to replace chainstay wraps?
Hmm, i don’t think it would survive all that long being bashed by a chain consistently. I think there are better products on the market for chainstay protection.
What size Remedy is that pls? tks!
+Chango Unchained it's a 19.5

You did it wrong right off the bat, that sticker goes on the under

Looks pretty bad imo.
