I work for a clothing rental company, in the service department. We get our new customers from the sales department. And our sales department stacked with psychopaths. We have at least 3 in our location alone. They aren't violent, but will lie pathologically to make sales, or about the size of a sale. They don't have to deal with the repercussions of their actions because once an account is activated the upkeep is entirely the service department's responsibility. They lie to customers, then lie to service representatives, then bail on the responsibility. They have no qualms about doing it, and no concern when you call them out for it. They don't get defensive, they just ignore the confrontation. There are no consequences for them. I have tried telling leadership about their behavior and no one does anything because they get results. This is why pure meritocracy is a bad idea. A person's character should matter more than their ability to meet the key performance indicators. But my company doesn't get that, and it bothers me.

You can be stoic and have/show empathy.

A true Stoic can be downright passionate about doing what's morally right. But I see the grounds for your inquiry.

Family members, they love to make themselves out to be so much better but when you call them out they flake out and throw a tantrum. No remorse, behave like nothing happened and have no compassion unless they believe they will get something for themselves out of it. Try manipulating all to get what they want

Went on a 2nd date who came to my place said he offed someone and he asked me if my water sprinkler on my wall is a camera. Googled him and scammed people out of money on-line and arrested a decade ago for 4 times - 3 for nonpayment of child support and one DUI. He has forever eyes. The stare. I dated a sadist with dead eyes but these eyes you can look through and no one is home. I am lucky I am alive I do believe.
