      @@IsaacHarvison-mt5xt He was in a historic tier above others when it came to reading the defense and his receivers post snap. Where Peyton was amazing with pre-snap recognition in terms of the defense and offensive adjustments (audibles, WR positions, O-line protections), Brady's post snap analysis is what made him get rid of the ball so fast. Considering how fast defenses can change looks post snap while they bring pressure in late passing downs, what Brady did was nothing short of remarkable.

    As a Steelers fan, he doesnt need to be Big Ben, he just needs to capitalize on a top 5 Defense and an above average group of weapons. If Pickett is just a mobile Kirk Cousins, im happy, plus hes got a clutch factor
    Edit: yall are so harsh 😂 its hard af to win the Superbowl man! Kirk Cousins is a top 12-15 QB in a pass heavy offense. If Kenny can be that in year 2 with Matt Canada calling plays, he can be top 10 with someone else calling plays.

      Your right, the Steelers are a good enough organization that a mobile Kirk Cousins is all they need to put together a super bowl contender. If Canada can start calling a decent game then this team could go 11-6 and possibly split with the Bengals again.

      @@aidanshearer691 Your barking up the wrong tree, I am a huge Kirk fan but I know that he isn't a superstar QB. I genuinely believe Kirk could win a Superbowl but it is hard to win a Superbowl, even Patrick Mahomes doesn't do it alone. And so Kirk would need a good supporting cast to win a Superbowl. Just look at Matt Stafford and the 2021 rams super team, I think that Kirk can be better than Matt at some times but either way he would need a similar quality team to win.
      My main point was that with Kirk Cousins (and a decent offensive play caller) the Steelers could be super bowl contenders because they have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball.

    I scouted pickett a few weeks ago and we came away with similar takes. He's a playmaker who has to improve on reading the field down to down, Canada + poor o line doesn't help, and we need to see him in a more consistent environment. I think Pickett could be pretty good with more NFL reps. Timing and decision making can improve with him having a better core around him and finally getting 1st team reps in a off season with a coordinator who he is now familiar with.

    The play at 4 minutes is something the Steelers are going to need to implement. If you are a receiver and you feel your man is going to blitz, EVERY elite offense has signals and hot routes they utilize. That Colts' blitz was obvious AF, and had the offense had a hot route, the 'hot' receiver would just barely come off the line and turn around for the ball to pick up an easy 4+ yards.

    Your comment about Canada getting too cute made me think of what a friend of mine who was a defensive coordinator at the high school level said to me. He talked about how in one series he called three straight cover 0 blitzes and they got burned. The head coach pulled him aside, berated him and said "Your job is to call plays so we can be successful, not call plays so you can look smart!" He said he never forgot that lesson and you see this so often at all levels.

    • @t4d0W
      @t4d0W Рік тому

      Funny enough the new OC of the Ravens in Todd Monken made it clear awhile back in an interview that it is his responsibility for his (Ravens) offense to put up points. So he understand the accountability of his role in the coaching staff because if they aren't doing their job, why are they in the building to begin with? Regarding your example of the HS coordinator, it reminds me of defensive minded HC Brandon Staley. He really is a smart defensive minded coach who has had flashes of brilliance with his game plans to attack certain offenses. However those tactics have not led him success for his team in terms of winning games consistently especially against very favorable match ups. So I hear from Steelers fans is this is Canada's boom or bust season.

    • @jamesmarshall6619
      @jamesmarshall6619 Рік тому

      @@t4d0W yeah, sometimes it's hard for coaches to just call the easy play. You need a yard, you have a team that can get a yard, just go get a yard. If you have a situation where you don't need to call an exotic blitz and just drop back seven and rush four, don't blitz, just drop back seven. You obviously have to change it up from time to time but sometimes coaches try to look too smart. Ron Wolfley here in Arizona on the radio always says "It's hard to look smart running the football" and there is some truth to it. Sometimes the genius play is to just call the simple play.

    Interesting point about Kenny's ability to push some BS through. Personally I feel that is more the byproduct of not being able to be consistent in structure. Maybe that is all on the parties involved: Canada's wack play calling, the O-line not consistent holding up in pass pro and Pickett inexperience/current slow progressions. If the Steelers/Tomlin can get the right offensive mind to bring that consistent structure and even take advantage of Pickett's mobility, I think Steelers fans can live with his faults. As well get hype when he can make stuff happen out of structure in his own way.

    You’re right, pretty much 100% right. But from training camp and just seeing Kenny, I think he’s gotten a million times better at those reads you were talking about and not locking on one dude, yes it’s not that hard to get worse than he was at times. But a lot of the blame goes to Canada, if we had anyone else at OC Kenny could develop so much faster and same with the rest of the O. People dog on Najee too much and don’t realize the situation he had last few seasons, crappy O Line and crap play calling, leading to 3.9 yards a carry, matter of fact that’s impressive looking at the line and the fact that he was hurt half the season.

    • @t4d0W
      @t4d0W Рік тому

      Burrow technically didn't struggle his rookie year in terms of playing pocket QB. Especially if you count 2021 as an extension of his rookie year due to injury. Sure he got his teammate from LSU Chase to catch basic balls along with the break out of Tee Higgins along with Joe Mixon who was great as a runner. But his O-line was arguably as trashy as Pickett's O-line in 2022. Sure he had Jonah Williams for LT but the interior was bad. Then Reiff went down toward the end of the season and Adeniji had to play tackle. Any other QB and they would have been slop with that O-line in the playoffs but Burrow was that good that he put them on his back and pushed for the SB. Even in the video it showed that the times Pickett had absolute clean pockets, he sometimes never went for the deep shot and settled for a closer receiver. These are the things to keep in context despite Pickett being a rookie playing for a new offense with a wack ass play caller.

      @@ThinkingFootball Yeah but you’re basing a lot of your thoughts and plays from his first few starts. How many first round qbs get thrown in during the season with no reps with the first team? He didn’t have time to gel with any of them and was learning and experiencing the college to nfl transition and handled very well. He didn’t crumble when it came to crunch time. What were your thoughts on TLaw or a Josh Allen who threw like 50% Completion his first two years? Or how about Lamar who couldn’t win early in his career with his arm rather had to use his legs. I bet you called all three of them franchise guys. So yeah, I’m not stressed because I have seen worse rookie qb play that turned out to be okay and Kenny has a better clutch factor than a lot of qbs in the league already. I’ll leave it at that

      @@KeeblersKeys TLaw's first season despite being under horny dog Urban Meyer had some really good flashes. The kinda shit that makes you go 'this is elite stuff if it can be replicated often'. Not surprising that was the case when he was finally paired with a real professional like Doug Pederson calling plays. Then the Jags passing game overachieved using receivers like Christian Kirk, Marvin and Zay Jones along with pass catching HB Evan Engram. You don't understand there are levels to this and there is a difference where fans can put aside their bias and know when they have someone elite from the jump. Don't be like the Zach Wilson believers who have to be accused of not only eating crow but being on that dudes dick trying to defend his on field play. Then go off blaming a decent OC why he can't hit passes on time at the middle.

    His first NFL throw was a high ball to a 6'4 receivers who lost to a 5'9 safety. No, that wasn't horrendous by Pickett. That was faith by a QB in his tall receiver to make a play

      Typical Ohio sports commenter. The Steelers "falling far" would be considered a successful season to the Bengals and Browns. Up until Joe B, you'd all consider 9-8 a good season, and Browns fans would be talking Super Bowl.

      @@claytonkohut1195 Hey man, some team in the AFC North has to do it. Too bad it can't be the Steelers. Especially if they are fans of Canada's cute play calling. Zac Taylor has faults with his offense but cute play calling has not been one them for years.
