Well, it's 5 pedals that you like. There are others I like. Never saw the need for a volume pedal. The bass has a volume knob.

I think it really depends on how you set up the rest of your board.
I like having the option of using a volume pedal as both volume and expression. Plus it’s handy to have an extra kill switch option but that’s only relevant if you’re playing music that requires that so I take your point.
      Cheers for the comment!

@@OnlineBassGuitar1 Yeah, it all depends on what you're going for.

Couple things first, I don’t gig or even play for others. Just enjoying the instruments at home in peace. I also own one of the last remaining devices known as a phone so I don’t even pay for a tuner.
Because of all this, my only pedal is an EQ and the Behringer Ultra-vibrato bought on impulse.
The EQ replaces ever buying strings again, acts as a preamp, volume, gain, second line out to headphones or something else, preset second amplifier and a lofi/freq effects pedal just to mention a couple. And the Source Audio EQ2 even has a built-in tuner if you’re that needy of one.
And no pedalboard or special power supply. Just a $Store extension cord and the 18v power supply that comes with the MXR 10. Wax holds the pedal onto the top of my Fender 40

Hey, man. You should consider using the tuner on your unit instead of the one on your phone. Floor units can't *not* be accurate, as they're being fed a direct line. The app on your phone is wildly inaccurate, depending what's going on in the background.

Five pedals is a lot man. I say just get a Sans Amp pedal, keep it simple.

I hear you man. There are some pedals which I personally couldn’t do without but I did gig totally pedal-less for a long time. Each to their own!

Who says that five pedals is a lot? I'm rocking nine as it stands. That said, three of them (gate, line selector, tuner) don't do anything particularly fun lol.
