Thanks for the video, did this job today on my 2010 1.6 TDI Golf UK spec car. Not too bad a job, took about 3.5 hours in total with basic tools and knowledge. It looks a lot more than it is but it's quite self explanatory. Please note that on a right hand drive car, you need to remove both headlights as the sensor is behind the passenger headlight and the release cable is behind the driver headlight.
Exactly, I also was able to quite easily replace it without removing the entire bumper and headlight! The only part I removed was the small grill at the front that has the VW emblem on it, and loosened my APR Carbon Fiber air intake. The latch that I ordered on Amazon was for an Audio, so the electrical socket was too large on the sensor cable, but I simply cut it and joined it to the wire from the latch I removed. Doing that also gave me extra length on the cable to feed it around and tuck it in neatly. All working, with functioning sensor.

Digging the mellow vibes right now
Holy freaking hell, should have done the timing chain, injectors and a new intake cam while you were in there...
This the same procedure for a 2010 TDI?
You can replace it by without taking the spoiler and headlamps out.

So you basically have to disassemble the entire car to replace the hood cable? Great…
