The Safe, Simple, and Easy Way To Open A Young Coconut

  • Opening coconuts can be dangerous. In the past I've used a lot of force with machetes and large knives, and even power tools to open coconuts. Not only was this messy, but also dangerous. I was afraid for the safety of my fingers.
However, just recently, I learned the safe way to open a coconut that does not require brute force, minimizes the mess, and keeps your fingers safe. This video shows you how.

This was a great walkthrough. The how-to on the side of my drinkin' young coconut omitted the part where you had to smash through the shell. Might get another some day far from now (coconut water is sterile btw; our medics used in the PTO in WWII for infusion of wounded. It's like drinking Ringer's lactate!)

Bro, my mother in law is INSISTING that the outer white husk is not real.
She thinks that it’s some kind of foam material that was artificially wrapped around the coconut. I told her,
“No, it’s real. It’s organic material. It’s part of the coconut”
She continued to insist that it was some kind of foam and said it’s not like any coconut she’s ever seen therefore it’s fake.
It is infuriating. Little bit of backstory. She saw me drinking out of one, then asked me to pick one up for her, it’s been in the fridge for a few days and now she’s complaining it’s taking up too much space. Then she insisted I drink it even though I was in the middle of something. I told her later. She tried to open it on her own and couldn’t and that’s when she started insisting it wasn’t a real coconut. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
