      I'd really love that. I think it's unlikely to be the end of my pain, but I can manage that. The worry was if I slipped and fell, intracranial pressure could be out of control, and cause damage. This repair was too get the internal pressure back to normal. My daily pain comes from scar tissue from my other surgery sites.
      I'm glad to be feeling so good, with minimal incisional pain. That's a total win in my book.

    What wonderful news! I hope this gives you a much better life, pain free....

      I'd love to be pain free, but don't think this surgery will offer that possibility. It was supposed to help spinal fluid flow, since part of my shunt was clogged. If my shunt wasn't working, and I hit my head accidently, it could've been fatal.
      My daily pain comes from scar tissue built up in a very nerve dense place after three previous surgeries. (Back of the head, and upper neck) The only way to fix it is to remove the scar tissue, but only more would grow back, so it's not something my doctor wants to do.
      I'm ok. I need to be safe first, and then I can work toward a pain solution.
      Thanks for your concern. ❤️❤️

      We are thrilled. Be the kids are glad I'm finally up, and out of bed, and my husband worries less about me. I'm just happy to get back to the mundane daily duties. Laundry had never been so fun. Just being able to do regular stuff is great. Thanks for the kind words and support. 💕

    8/5 Hi Rebecca, I've been M.I.A. since about mid June, internet problems, no TV, computer, no LipstickGal vids...booo. Your vid about surgery was the first vid I've watched, surprised to see video, but sooo glad your surgery went well & that you are doing good. As always, you look marvelous. I have a lot of vids to catch up on. I've missed seeing you. Oh, I'm glad you watch The Rookie, it is a fav. of ours and Castle, Love Nathan. Take care, Blessings and Good Health...more later.

      Thanks so much. This Friday will be 4 weeks since by surgery, and I'm doing very well. I head back to Seattle next Thursday for a post surgery check up.
      I'm sorry you've been without internet. That would be hard for me! I've been thinking about you, and praying you were well. Glad to know you are doing well, and are able to connect again.
      Thanks for watching today! Have a lovely rest of the week.

    Brilliant news, I’m so happy for you! May I just ask - I’m in the UK so don’t really understand the US system. Do you pay for health insurance say on a monthly basis, and then the hospital makes a claim on that? What happens to people who can’t afford to pay a health insurance plan? For instance, if they needed the op you’ve just had? And how do you get treatment in a and e - if you had a heart attack or broke your arm and didn’t have insurance, what would happen?xx

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  4 роки тому +1

      We get insurance coverage through my husband's work. We pay monthly for it. I still have a financial responsibility for the doctors visits and surgeries/hospital says. It's usually a percentage of the total amount that the insurance holder is responsible. Each policy is different, so it depends on the type of coverage your policy offers. Mine is really good. I'm only responsible for 20% of the total, and only up to a certain amount every year. When I pass that specified amount, my insurance pays 100% of my bill.
      The years I have surgery, i always go over my specified about, and the insurance pays for the bulk of what I have done.
      The fear here in the US is, what happens when you lose your job with good insurance. How will this cover your medical costs if you're not covered.
      If you're ill, or are in an accident, you get taken to the hospital. You receive the care you need, but then are left with an exorbitant bill that can bankrupt you.
      I feel like our system is broken because so many people in my country don't have basic healthcare, and can't get the medical assistance they need because they don't have insurance. More than half the population lives without healthcare. It's terrible.

    • @alimacindoe811
      @alimacindoe811 4 роки тому

      Oh my goodness, that still sounds very expensive! I’m staggered that you have to pay to see your own doctor, that’s amazing! That must be a terrible worry, the thought of being handed a bill when you leave hospital if you don’t have insurance. I don’t think any system is perfect but that sounds like quite a financial burden for you x

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  4 роки тому +1

      @@alimacindoe811 it can be a huge burden. We spend several thousand dollars every year before our insurance kicks in at 100%, but I have it better than most people. My coverage is probably in the top 10% of people who have good insurance. My husband and I still figure we could've bought two Luxury cars in the past fifteen years with what we've paid out of pocket for my 14 surgeries and multiple hospital stays. Thankfully, it's never so much that we've been financially ruined. That, and the hospitals put you on a payment plan. It's easier if I can pay it off monthly for a year to 18 months. I'll be paying this one off for a while. Just about finished paying off my last round of surgeries in September 2019.

    • @alimacindoe811
      @alimacindoe811 4 роки тому

      thelipstickgal that seems like such an awful burden, I understand that everything has to be paid for and that no system is perfect, but to have to consider money at a time when you’re most vulnerable sounds terrible x

    I just found you, may I ask what was this for?

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  4 роки тому +2

      Yeah, I've had 4 previous surgeries. Two for my chiari type I malformation. I got a infection after one surgery and needed to have an incision and drainage, and they placed a VP shunt. (4th surgery) part of my shunt got clogged and wasn't working, so this surgery was to fix the problem, and regular spinal fluid flow. I'm feeling much better.
