Changing over hot water pipes as I text. One question, where did you buy the central heating deal with boiler. Is it wise Mann etc. ? Do you have a link. I am a diyer, but I will have plumber install and certify work for regs. He's happy. Told me he doesn't like wet work!!!!

I got my deal from mrcentralheating.co.uk was a good price too for the boiler, pipes and rads. I did end up needing a lot more pipe and fittings than they supplied though. Good luck with it all, it's well worth doing it yourself as it saves a fortune.

The extension that our boiler is in now will eventually just be a utilities room. 😁

i like doing a bit of DIY plumbing :-) and I do a fair bit off it at work being part of the site maintenance team in a school, I have lost count how many toilets I have pulled apart lol. And the second pair of grips are called mole grips just for the record :-) I could do with a new boiler, I am half tempted to have a go at it myself, Mmm but I know your not suppose ha ha

Hey, thank you very much for posting these videos and good luck with the all project! I am trying to learn something out of those.. stupid question I noticed you turn main water on but for the sink or whatever utilities in bathroom you left isolation valve off is it okay and enough to leave it like that even if you don't have a tap connected? Thanks

Yes it's fine to leave isolation valve turned off with nothing connected to it.

Please tell me more .We did everything with nuts about 15 years ago. But then when the pipes were heated and cooled, there were leaks at the joints. Water dripped from these nuts. And we switched to polypropylene. The nuts were replaced with welding. Do you have water over time does not flow from under these nuts? How long does this connection last without leaks? Or do you need to constantly tweak them?

The nuts with some PTFE tape are very reliable, you never need to tweak them if it's done right in the first place. Our heating systems also have and additive placed in them that stop any corrosion to the copper pipes, rads or nuts.

tell me please. You start the installation with a copper pipe, then switch to plastic. Are you supposed to have copper connected to the radiator? Is this some kind of building code? Or is it for beauty? Why not make everything plastic?

The copper pipes to the rads are for beauty, you can connect the plastic pipe if you want to. The copper and plastics here are all to building code so it's a matter of preference.

I was wondering if you installed the boiler yourself - I thought it was a job for a gas safe fitter or maybe you are gas safe registered? Thanks for the videos which I find very helpful.

No I paid £300 for a qualified plumber. They ran a new 22mm gas pipe to the front of the house, as the old one was lead, hung the boiler and made all the connections to it from the pipes I had already laid. Glad the videos are of help, thank you.
