USS Washington, 2nd ship of the North Carolina class was not supposed to be the actual successor to the former Tennessee-class armored cruiser, USS Washington, that was supposed to be the 3rd Colorado Class Super-Dreadnought Battleship, USS Washington (BB-47) which was canceled under the Washington Naval Treaty.
