Oh boy... Ouch. That doesn't surprise me. I've been seeing it elsewhere. Akagi and Kaga. Well... They're not sisters. You might them Adoptive Sisters, but that's it. Akagi was originally laid down as the second ship of the Amagi-class Battlecruiser. They were part of the Imperial Japanese Eight-Eight Plan. Or rather Long Term Eight-Eight Project, Restarted. My own designation since the IJN had spent 20 years trying to create the Eight-Eight Plan and having to essentially restart it a couple of times. The Second Restart included the Amagi-class Battlecruiser. Four Amagi-class were authorized. The last two were named Takao and Atago. I don't believe either were started and if they were, were not very far along. The Amagi-class were to be paired with the Fast Battleship Kii-class. The second of the Kii-class was to be named Owari. And if Owari pops up, expect to see her likely referencing the Oda Clan. Especially Oda Nobunaga. As Owari was their home territory. Interestingly, the Kii-class Fast Battleships were to ultimately replace all Battlecruisers thereafter. The Amagi-class were to be Japan's second and last Battlecruisers. The Fast Battleship concept was already taking off and replacing the Battlecruiser before WW1. Now Kaga was laid down as the second of the Tosa-class Battleship. To be exact, a Tosa-class Dreadnought Battleship. The term was simplified to Battleship after all Pre-Dreadnought Battleships were decommissioned, scrapped, or re-rated under a different system. Though not all Pre-Dreadnoughts were scrapped worldwide, as Germany still had a couple until they lost WW2. The Tosa-class and Amagi-class both used 16.1 inch main guns. The Kii-class would have used the same. The Nagato-class were also 16.1 inch guns. But after them, the Number 13-class was to be armed with 18 inch guns. Tosa and Kaga were the only two of their class. Just as the proceeding Nagato-class. The Fuso- and Ise-class were originally envisioned as a four ship class, but faults in the first pair's construction and design as well as budget issues resulted in the four being built as two different classes. But all four were still faulty in some way, but they cleared the way for Nagato, Mutsu, Tosa, and Kaga to be completed without serious design or construction faults. Because of the Washington Naval Treaty of 1923, both the Tosas and Amagis were cancelled, though one each was permitted for conversion to Aircraft Carriers. That decision was the result of several reasons. Tosa was too far along to be reconstructed as an Aircraft Carrier. Which is why Kaga was selected. Amagi was also selected, but was severely damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake, though she wouldn't the only warship such lost because of the disaster. The Pacific was jumbled and caused shipping havoc all the way to the shores of the Americas. Including the infamous Point Honda Disaster on the California Coast that caused the US Navy several Destroyers. Due the severity of her damage, Amagi was written off and ordered scrapped. The Washington Naval Treaty signers were asked if another ship could be chosen. There was no harm at the time, so it was permitted with Akagi being selected to replace Amagi. So Akagi began conversion and was completed without difficulty. This difference is the visual hue between the two: Akagi a Black Kitsune with Red Highlights Kaga a White Kitsune with Blue Highlights After completion, but ships served until put together to form the First Carrier Division of the First Air Fleet. Unlike both Akagi and Kaga, the two of the Second Carrier Division, Soryu and Hiryu were sisters, but more or less half-sisters, because one was a modified form of the other, though still close enough that it's really a minor thing. The Shokaku-class were the first two Fleet Carriers for Japan to be built to a single design.
@@lyndonshi6572 - But at the end of the Second World War, Nagato was once again the Flagship of the Imperial Japanese Navy. After all, she was their LAST Battleship left. Haruna, Ise, and Hyuga were all sunk at Kure. All three sank in very shallow waters, so they were able to stay upright and partially out of the water. But they were badly damaged, Ise also had incurred a 15 degree list. Despite how they looked, they were essentially wrecks. Haruna, for example, had her bow partially removed. Ise had burned severely. And Hyuga was so deep in the water, her center was completely flooded out with water lapping at her remaining turrets. Needless to say, every other Japanese Battleship was sunk. Except for Mikasa. She actually survived in port, but was badly damaged. She's now a fixed sight in Tokyo, as it is unlikely she support herself in water or in dry dock.
Another mistake with the Dragon Empery/Eastern Radiance. The ships are mixed in their appearance for two reasons. The ROC is the Republic of China or the Nationalists as they were known at the time. Though the ROC was forced off the mainland of China and now are better known as Taiwan. Ning Hai, Ping Hai, and Yat Sen were ROC Navy (ROCN) Light Cruisers and the biggest combatants the ROCN had when the Second Sino-Japanese War broke out. Though they were smaller than contemporaries of the other nations. Yat Sen alone was more the size of a Pre-WW1 Light Cruiser with firepower to match. Ning Hai and Ping Hai were actually Japanese designed Cruisers built for the ROCN, with Ning Hai actually being built IN Japan itself. Though as relations soured, the three ships had to source parts from elsewhere, including weapons and ammo. But if you look, Yat Sen is larger than either of the Hai Sisters. The thought here is that Yat Sen would ultimately outlive both of them before being scrapped in the 1950s. Funny thing is that all three were sunk in battle with Japan, though raised by the Imperial Japanese Navy and eventually brought into their service. Though both of the Hai Sisters would be sunk by US Navy forces. One by a Submarine and the other by Carrier Air Attack. The other girls, the ones predominately in uniforms represent the Naval Section of the Armed Wing of the Chinese Communist Parties, current rulers of the People's Republic of China or the PRC. No, that's not a mistake. It's not even a technicality. The People's Liberation Army and its subbranches (which is the entire quote "Chinese Military' end quote) is NOT a National Military and is actually not operated by the PRC Central Government. Because the PRC Central Government, especially its Central Congress, is just a rubberstamp front for the CCP. But moving along, the People's Liberation Army's sea component is the People's Liberation Army Navy (yes, that's literally what they're called) or the PLAN (yes that's there actual designation). The PLAN used a number of Soviet ships and defected ROCN ships to increase its naval might. Though these ships were generally also used, much like their counterparts in the ROCN, as a Coastal Navy. Which is why the ROCN ships being smaller had not been an issue for the Nationalists. The two French factions were actually organized as Knights. A sort of King Arthur and his Knights of Justice (American Cartoon, 1990s) I guess you can say. They have a slight flair for their general appearance and include one 'Magic' user in their ranks. They represent a Dark Time, the Fall of France and the rule of the puppet regime, État Français or French State or State of France, but better known as Vichy France and the Light of Hope, Free France and the Free French Forces or France Libre et les Forces Françaises Libres from which the Post-War Fourth French Republic was born from and eventually reformed into what is the modern Fifth Republic of France today. As for Richelieu, the history behind her is that she didn't immediately join the Free French Navy until after the Operation Torch Landings. She had been damaged in battle with the Royal Navy in 1940 and had been stuck in North Africa ever since. When the Allied Forces landed and began securing French North Africa, the Vichy forces in North Africa defected to the Allies. That included Richelieu who sailed for America for major repair work before returning to join the war effort.
