I will agree that it was a stupid set of torpedoes to launch, but you can notice in the video that the Shima (Skyhund) actually manages to kill the enemy Donskoi with the set of torpedoes that you called an "attempted teamkill". You might call it blind luck that he tried to kill you and managed to secure the Donskoi, but it seems more likely that he just wasn't watching where you were going and grey-lined the Donskoi.

That Shima's plays were truly next level. Firing torps near you to encourage you to move away from him, then using those 20km torps to make sure they got noticed and get them to turn broadside to your own torp attacks. Truly the strongest player.
Not just the torpedoes make the German Z-52 strong, but also the fact that it has Hydroacoustic Search. Very underrated consumable that can prevent you from getting torpedo'd in your own smokescreen.
I have around 200 games played in my Mino and something around 100-120 ish games in my Des Moines. I absolutely adore brawling in both of those ships, but I know from experience on both sides of the gun the Mino will lose that brawl 9 times out 10. The ONLY time I would rush a DM in a Mino is if his guns were pointed 180 degrees away from my ship and he is at crawl around some islands. If you miss the torps the DM will out DPM you. A Mino can be angled to fire just 3-4 of the turrets and the DM can still overmatch into the citadel at ranges under 10 km. If you want to do well in your Mino harass the DM at ranges > 12 km from the safety of an island or smoke.

The other day while I was playing the Z-52, I saw a DD farming one of my team's BBs. I cruised up and popped hydro and started firing on him. They were behind their smoke screen so I used their smoke to kill them. They ran, but in their panic, they ran into an island and then they died. Fun times.
Would love to see a follow-up video of the T8 and T9 German DDs. Maybe they're too similar to the Z-52 to be worth separate commentaries? Your opinion is appreciated.

I used to be scared of Khabas in my Geraing then I felt the Smoke+Hydro fury of a Z-52. Every move I tried to get in close to him was stopped hard with Hydro. My next Ship line is gonna be German DDs.
One thing that always made me wonder, with dual purpose guns, do you need to stop firing, or target planes to make use of them, or do they do their thing regardless of where you're aiming/firing?

Since I have a worry that in clan wars later, I have a feeling it will be normal to have 3 radars out of 7 ships (if 7v7) and if its 12 v 12, with 7 radars on each side of the team. Well I will be really frustated if you have to face 4 moskva and 3 des moines while capping as a DD.

The way i understand it: his problem was, the he was tryin to torp the bismark but couldnt because you were "in the way". then he turned his attention to another group behind him and fired his torps at them. not realizing that you were sailing that way as well. Hes still a jerk (and not a good player) for blaming you and not apologizing but probably not that big of a jerk to try to tk you. i can be wrong though

Magnux96 Nah, if played and timed right, Shima with her 3x5 torp salvos can delete just about anyone from full HP, regardless what their torp dmg reduction is.
But in reality u mostly get punished harder than z-52 in shima becuz unknown factors can kick in (eg: u overestimate someone wud react to ur torps in a certain way, but they go braindead and sail straight, then u miss) Wudnt say z-52 is more potent that shima, but more consistent thanks to the ability to spam torps faster Shima: all or nothing Z-52: u chip away their life
A good DD player kinda always expects the unexpected, and also predicts the enemy movements. And since Shima has 3 sets of launchers, you can afford to "screw up", don't send all torps at the target at the same time, launch one or two sets, wait for a moment and then launch the remaining ones to hopefully cause flooding the target cannot repair for a while. And also if you launch only 1 or 2 sets and they miss, you still have a set of torps left to use, you know? My point is that Shima has so many torps that she can afford to screw up. In the right hands, Shima is very consistent.
Doesn't really matter how many torps you can fire, when they are literally spotted from the moon. I always fire my torps at different directions, but they are seen so early that I'm lucky to even land 1-2. Z-52 however, it has such stealthy torps that you consistently land multiple. Torps are even faster than Shima's and have much faster reload.
Soviet DD = extreme gunboats with not much useful torpedos (with some exceptions) IJN DD = extreme torpedoboats with not much useful guns (with some exceptions) USN DD = gunboats with useful torpedos KM DD = torpedoboats with useful guns RN DD = extreme gunboats with extremely useful torpedos, i bet ;)
Oh please this is not 2015 where guns in DD matters, unless your DD has something that let them use those guns (Germans: Hydro + Smoke combo or Soviet: Speed tank + Shell speed combo) guns on DD does not matter, these days if you fucking shoot in DD you better unspotted or know that nobody can shoot you back aside from the guy you fighting which is a pretty rare situation.
How are Fletcher torps better than Yugumo torps, other than the concealment? And Yugumo can slot the torpedo reload booster instead of the smoke. Your team will rightfully hate you, but being able to dump 16 torps within like 10 seconds is *fun* - and quite effective when defending caps.
Fletcher torps are better for a number of reasons. To start, small reload time advantage (8 secs), not super important, and you'd think the Yugumo does more damage- but no, Fletcher gets an entire extra torp per salvo. On one hand, potential max damage for 100% accuracy is higher with Fletcher because of the extra torp, on the other hand, you're more likely to score at least one hit because you can cover that extra chunk of water. More damage. This is at the cost of 1 knot speed, and 1.5 km range. Whoop de doo. But that's not the big thing- concealment is more important than you're realizing. It's not so much about the concealment value, or the speed, but rather their relation to each other. What matters is the time between contact and detonation. Even though the Yugumo torps are a bit faster, you have more time to dodge them, which makes them less reliable. Assuming the Fletcher had 2x4 torps instead of 2x5, you'd still have a higher hit ratio with the Fletcher and therefore more torp damage simply from the discrepancy in concealment. To put it in perspective, you have *_33%_* more time to dodge Yugumo torps than Fletcher torps. a half km is a big deal.
Hi flamu, big fan. This is a bit off topic but... about the Hood. A ship I really struggle in in comparison to all other rn battleships. Do you think it's guns need a buff?. It has the same 381mm as the queen and warspite. But unlike them. It has 1.8 sigma not 2. It has the old HE of the warspite. Now the worst he of the rn battleships. And it has the new ap values of the queen. Which seem to not really do much... even if u do manage to hit with that sigma, they bounce a lot. It just seems that the Hood is really bad gunpower wise. Seems to have the bad end of sigma he and ap....
Z52 is like a Japanese horror film while the others are like American horror films, z52 does scare you all the time while the others scare you a few times with a huge dmg wolley

Not to offend you Flamu, but perhaps the Shimakaze wasn't trying to torp you and was aiming for the ships ahead and you were steering in his path, considering his second torp launch was far from you, he was just making sure he got some hits, after all it is vital that you pay attention to your teammates EVERY move, to ensure that nothing controversial happens. Not all players are good like you and not all players use torpedoes like you do.
It's pretty interesting how many people here think they know what the majority of people from certain countries are like. I mean, in the end you meet players from several countries who don't speak english. You meet idiots from every country. You also meet good and bad players from every country. I don't think you can tell anything from playing the game, since you don't know where someone is from most of the time. The Shima btw first told you to "get out of the way", and later told you to "leave his torp area", as if there is anything like that in the game. Also the TK attempt is pretty absurd. Given enough time everyone will get to tier 10. but with a 40% winrate, it's just going to take a little longer... Do remember though potatoes can be anoying, but when you have your 7+ kill game a sizeable number of your and the opposing team must have been just that. =P

I have a real question pertaining to potato players and moves. At what point (in terms of total number of games, number of games at "high" tier, or whatever other metric you want to use), should a player "know better"? Not everyone has the ability to become unicum no matter what the experience. Of course everyone can probably become competent at least. I have played about 1500 games total over two accounts and am up to several tier XI ships (I play a lot of lines simultaneously). Of course I am better than I used to be but getting "good" at high tier is pretty hard because there are a lot of good players up here (especially in DD's). You have played over 10-15K games so of course most of us can not expect to have your experience for a while - but when did you "get it". When can I expect things to click? I do OK damage and xp wise and often top the score board but cannot reliably carry games so my win rate is crap.
OK, because I don't think win rate tells all about a player. I am in a clan where I have divisioned up with players with 60% win rate who are pretty average - and often just Yolo in and get killed. Likewise, there are some with 45% who are pretty good and display good skills, team play, non-selfish play, etc. Of course there are those with 38% win rate who completely suck. It seems to me the best way to judge a player's skills is to watch him or her play - and not just you tube videos where they obviously showcase their best games. Divving up with a wide variety of folks has really taught me that. I'm not sure that just pure stats can predict this so much. Look at all those seal clubbers who go down tier to just boost their win rate with 19 pt captains etc.
The reason why it's so much potatos on tier 10 this days,is because of the yamato mission.A lot of players play tier 10 With bad captain skills.And also maney of them is not used to play high tier game,so this is wwargammings fault.
I hate those German players that just speak German in chat to everyone, it really grinds my gears! (And I am German myself). Sure, the game is German by default when you live im Germany and thus the standard commands are in German as well. Still though, you hardly ever see players from other countries doing it. And I have no idea why...
fellow German here. As I see it, these players are often a lot older and attracted to wows by the many famous German ships of the ww2. which also explains why they tend to be so clueless and stubborn. just like the typical Derpitz player
I agree on the fact, that players in WoWs tend to be older than in other online games. still though, I just don't get why you almost only see Germans doing it and not people from other european countries. you sometimes see hungarian and chech or maybe some french, but by far not as often as you see people writing in German (usually complaining or directly communicating to other players).

Dude...Last Stand is a tier 2 skill. It takes a whopping 3 points to obtain. Its not like you need a 19 point captain to obtain LS. It is essential in a DD, even cruisers. And I sir, am no Unicum.

Wasn't a team-kill attempt, just a clueless long range launch at enemies. WG's team kill system is pathetic. A properly designed one would rid the game of this crap "fire muh torps and it's your fault if they hit you" attitude (I advocated one back in Alpha which got all the engagement one expects from WG with anyone speaking English) by the time an average potato reaches tier 4, but WG won't ever drive anyone from the game simply for playing like a selfish twat. On one hand, potential max damage for 100% accuracy is higher with Fletcher because of the extra torp, on the other hand, you're more likely to score at least one hit because you can cover that extra chunk of water. More damage. This is at the cost of 1 knot speed, and 1.5 km range. Whoop de doo.
But that's not the big thing- concealment is more important than you're realizing. It's not so much about the concealment value, or the speed, but rather their relation to each other. What matters is the time between contact and detonation. Even though the Yugumo torps are a bit faster, you have more time to dodge them, which makes them less reliable. Assuming the Fletcher had 2x4 torps instead of 2x5, you'd still have a higher hit ratio with the Fletcher and therefore more torp damage simply from the discrepancy in concealment.
To put it in perspective, you have *_33%_* more time to dodge Yugumo torps than Fletcher torps. a half km is a big deal.

Hi flamu, big fan. This is a bit off topic but... about the Hood. A ship I really struggle in in comparison to all other rn battleships. Do you think it's guns need a buff?. It has the same 381mm as the queen and warspite. But unlike them. It has 1.8 sigma not 2. It has the old HE of the warspite. Now the worst he of the rn battleships. And it has the new ap values of the queen. Which seem to not really do much... even if u do manage to hit with that sigma, they bounce a lot. It just seems that the Hood is really bad gunpower wise. Seems to have the bad end of sigma he and ap....

Not to offend you Flamu, but perhaps the Shimakaze wasn't trying to torp you and was aiming for the ships ahead and you were steering in his path, considering his second torp launch was far from you, he was just making sure he got some hits, after all it is vital that you pay attention to your teammates EVERY move, to ensure that nothing controversial happens. Not all players are good like you and not all players use torpedoes like you do.
It's pretty interesting how many people here think they know what the majority of people from certain countries are like.
I mean, in the end you meet players from several countries who don't speak english. You meet idiots from every country. You also meet good and bad players from every country.

I want to win every game, so I play my best to win every game. That should include to not kill your allies. But what do I know. I still think camping in BBs is a bad thing...
Where do all these T10 potato players come from? And how did they ever reach T10? I usually have atleast 3-4 T9-10 players on each T10 match that behave like that Minotaur or that Shimakaze guy. I have a real question pertaining to potato players and moves. At what point (in terms of total number of games, number of games at "high" tier, or whatever other metric you want to use), should a player "know better"? Not everyone has the ability to become unicum no matter what the experience. Of course everyone can probably become competent at least. I have played about 1500 games total over two accounts and am up to several tier XI ships (I play a lot of lines simultaneously). Of course I am better than I used to be but getting "good" at high tier is pretty hard because there are a lot of good players up here (especially in DD's). You have played over 10-15K games so of course most of us can not expect to have your experience for a while - but when did you "get it". When can I expect things to click? I do OK damage and xp wise and often top the score board but cannot reliably carry games so my win rate is crap.
OK, because I don't think win rate tells all about a player. I am in a clan where I have divisioned up with players with 60% win rate who are pretty average - and often just Yolo in and get killed. Likewise, there are some with 45% who are pretty good and display good skills, team play, non-selfish play, etc. Of course there are those with 38% win rate who completely suck. It seems to me the best way to judge a player's skills is to watch him or her play - and not just you tube videos where they obviously showcase their best games. Divving up with a wide variety of folks has really taught me that. I'm not sure that just pure stats can predict this so much. Look at all those seal clubbers who go down tier to just boost their win rate with 19 pt captains etc.

Sure, the game is German by default when you live im Germany and thus the standard commands are in German as well. Still though, you hardly ever see players from other countries doing it. And I have no idea why...
fellow German here. As I see it, these players are often a lot older and attracted to wows by the many famous German ships of the ww2. which also explains why they tend to be so clueless and stubborn. just like the typical Derpitz player
I agree on the fact, that players in WoWs tend to be older than in other online games. still though, I just don't get why you almost only see Germans doing it and not people from other european countries. you sometimes see hungarian and chech or maybe some french, but by far not as often as you see people writing in German (usually complaining or directly communicating to other players).

Dude...Last Stand is a tier 2 skill. It takes a whopping 3 points to obtain. Its not like you need a 19 point captain to obtain LS. It is essential in a DD, even cruisers. And I sir, am no Unicum.

WG's team kill system is pathetic. A properly designed one would rid the game of this crap "fire muh torps and it's your fault if they hit you" attitude (I advocated one back in Alpha which got all the engagement one expects from WG with anyone speaking English) by the time an average potato reaches tier 4, but WG won't ever drive anyone from the game simply for playing like a selfish twat.
They're more likely to penalise their own CCs, LOL.
Win rates usually doesn't tell you anything. Some players are really good at WoW but they can get with crap teams as well.
A 40% win rate in 20 games is bad luck. In 200 games it's poor play. in 2000 games it's a person who ate paint chips as a child.
