- Rail Disasters is a Train Simulator series simulating and recreating the events of real world train accidents
Episode 23: Railroad Sabotage
Two passenger train derailments occur just decades apart in the Western United States with a common suspected cause, sabotage.
Part 1: City of San Francisco, 1939
On August 12, 1939, the luxury streamliner "City of San Fransisco derails at 90mph just outside Harden, Nevada along Southern Pacific trackage killing 24 and injuring 121. Investigators would find tools near the site to find tools, suspecting it was sabotage.
Part 2: Palo Verde, Arizona, 1995
On October 9, 1995, Amtrak's Sunset Limited en route to Calfironia derails just outside Palo Verde, AZ killing a sleeping car attendant and injuring 78 others. Investigators would find misaligned rail and notes from a suspected terror organization linking the wreck to be deliberate.

Don't mind my mispelling of "Fransisco" as in "San Francisco" as I'm a fast typer

Sadly, none of the engines from the '39 sabotage survived. (Correction: some DID survive but what I mean is they were scrapped years later so only the engines inside the engines survived. 😥) Don't know about the ones from the '95 derailment, though. 😐
Both are still around today, the Dash 8 is still in service but may be retired some years later. The F40PH is still in service on the Nashville Music City Star commuter train.
Did you mean the motors given by the electro motive division
I hve a TS Disasters recommendation: The Murdoch, Illinois derailment
Great Choice
Western Union Pacific train Crash in Tokyo
Amtrak train survive without water
Sabotage is among us bro
Is between the passenger and the crew
Once a man had said to #PennCentral670, "Dude. You are a GOD at doing the train crashes. You need to do kismet!"
Then he replied to the man “Thanks dude, I appreciate it. I’ll see what I can do about it, just give me time.” :)
@@penncentral6706 Then the man said, "Ok i will give you some time."
@Wesley Maxfield then a final man said "i don't know but oh well".
i se a bumper in the brige i know
I love how the amtrak sun limited derailed which palo verde train derailment
Nicely done. There is a very interesting and horrific accident that occurred on March 27, 1953 on the 4 track NY Central Water Level Route involving 4 trains, one from each set of tracks, 2 freight & 2 high speed passenger. I would love to see a reenactment of that accident.
the southern pacific just have only 4 wrecks in history
I've seen the first train sabotage from Thunderbolt 1000 Siren Productions.
Yep I kinda did too
26 wrecks in bnsf s history including the 2020 bonners ferry train crash
Whats the music at 5:27
Airport Love Theme by Vincent Bell

No problem
August 12th, 1939
9:33 PM
24 were killed and 121 were involving injured.
Me: *Narrator* On October 9th, 1995 after my birth, Amtrak Train Number 1 The Sunset Limited rolls along heads to Los Angeles, California. At 2:20 AM, The Sunset Limited derailed while across the small bridge. Mitchell Bates was killed in the crash and 78 were involving injured the accident.
One word: Tangiwai. 😐
I don't think there's a Ka class model in TS.
@@harrisonofcolorado8886 but he can use other 4-8-4s to try atleast make it look like a KA class I think he has done that in other disaster documentaries aswell
@@penkagenova7073 Like What? There aren't any that look even remotely similar, the KA has a unique design.
griffin rails wassup!
Most awesome vid!!!!!
on October 9 1995 Amtrak sunset limited #1 was making his way Texas there 2 engines Amtrak dash 8BWH 511 And f40PH 395
close to WW2
The 2nd part is just a repeat of the 1939 version
I heard somebody wrote an article in a magazine telling the public how to override the warning signal that tells engineers to stop. I wonder what the purpose of that magazine article was. Whoever wrote it must have thought it would be a way to reduce overpopulation.
Amtrak #511 has repainted in phase 4 in early 2000's
Please do the Ufton Nervet Rail Crash in 2004
It was a shame that a train as luxurious as the City of San Francisco had a horrible accident.
the union pacific f9 locomotives is from train sim 3583 bytes game
Today marks the 81st anniversary of the 1939 sabotage and still to this day it's unknown who caused this and this happened 6 months before my grandma on my mom's side was born. And may all 24 people who were killed Rest In Peace.
Can you do kismet next
why the city of San Francisco train is with union pacific locomotives f9
Mitchell Bates was 58 when he died not 41.
That is a union Pacific f7 not a southern Pacific f7
Because he probably didn’t have one.
Closet livery to the City of San Francisco, which wasn't an SP train rather a CNW-UP-SP duo with the livery closely resembling UP.
I Have A Video For You To Do The Ufa Train Crash In Russia And The Santa Fe Mail Train Crash
Fantastic! With that F7, you could do the Robinson collision if you have the ATSF livery.
That was actually an E unit
There is a difference between the F and E units
@@penkagenova7073 Nope, they were all F units. F-3s and F-7s I believe.
that is union pacific locomotives
Can I borrow some of this video for my train wreck documentary?
Go for it
Recomendation:can you try do the "szczekociny rail crash"? there were no materials reconstructing it besides polish ones
I love the disaster videos
Sader song 1:47
I saw docs of both Sabotages. The City of San Francisco one by T-bolt 1000, and the Sunset Limited one by Both Griffin Rails and Railfan K. Train.
Edit: 2 docs of the Sunset Limited one, one By Railfan K. Train and the other by Griffin Rails.
Hi, my friend and I were wondering if we could use the format of TS crash documentaries to create our own, just wanted to get permission before starting, thanks. You'll be credited as an inspiration.
If you want, go ahead :)
@@penncentral6706 Thanks
How about you do
Ep 24 a repeat of History tennga bus vs train collision
Canto do the Custer Creek Derailment
do the camp hill disaster
and also my ansester is joseph reed
Ouch
They Derail In San Francisco California
They derailed in Nevada not California
noooooo
😂
I really enjoy your videos, but the music is often weird an inappropriate that you play over the photographs and video of the scene. Maybe something a little more neutral and a little less weirdly sentimental?
5:28 that sounds like the minions, whistling and what song is this?
Hint -> 🛫 ❤️ (Put the words in search)
I mean, what song is this?
Cool Video!
God bless the people who died in both accidents
Here’s one wrong thing: On the 1995 Palo Verde train crash, AMTK 511 and 398 stayed on the tracks at the time.
They actually derailed, but remained upright. Look at the photos of the lead 511 and you’ll find one showing that it’s not centered on the rails.
Do more Amtrak
Why are there 2 "A" units? The actual train had one "A" & two "B" units
