  • IF YOU JUST GRADUATED AND WANT TO BE A RIG WELDER / PIPELINE WELDER, WATCH THIS
In this video, Austin Ross is sharing how to get your first welding job. Specifically how to become a rig welder and how to get a pipeline job with no experience. If you are in high school welding class or have found yourself looking for your first welding job then this video is for you. Maybe you thought you would get to say “my first welding job was on so and so pipeline” but that hasn’t panned out yet. Maybe you don’t know anyone who can show you how to become a rig welder. Look no further. You don’t have to have just graduated for these tips on how to get a pipeline welding job to be helpful. They are useful for anyone wondering how to get your first pipeline job. Lots of people have been curious about how to become a traveling welder and a pipeline welder is one of the best. Many before you have asked pipeline welding job questions and these are the most asked about how to be a pipeline welder. Your first pipeline welding job, may not be first. In fact, many don’t start with a pipeline welding job. The better question is how to get into pipeline welding and get a pipeline welder job? Often times that starts with welding jobs for rig welders. After this video, you will soon be telling stories about your first day welding job.

I have a fab welding job in a shop back home, but am looking to go all in on the pipeline or rig out at least. I know there’s lots of jobs in refigeration and would be totally grateful working in that industry, or on a rig.

Grew up welding on cattle trailers and big rigs, took my skills to a vehicle fab shop, but I've wanted to pipeweld and travel since day 1. Trying to transition into the pipeline life and head back to welding school. I've faced tons of criticism and hate being a woman in the industry (no clue why people would care that much, I sure don't lol) I'm still going to keep on truckin'. I went to welding school in Dallas in 1963, when I finished I came back home and went to work at a saw mill in east Texas, I worked there for about 4 months, left that and got a truck driving job. I was going to go into pipeline welding ,but the call of the open road was to strong, this lasted until 1968, went to work for the city I lived in, Public works director, this lasted until 1984,quit this job..I know I needed to find a steady job,so I bought a restaurant and worked it for 30 years. all this time I meant to be a pipe line ........Oh well it was a hell of a ride.....Love your show and your attitude..............................................JS*

I've been getting experience doing misc factory welding jobs, and I especially like my current one, except it's not where I ideally want to be - just a step on the way there. I have no experience with pipeline or rig, but have been wanting to eventually get into that - partly because more money, but also more experience and being in new locations or outside is nice as well. I'm leaning towards pipeline but haven't really put too much effort in that direction yet.

    • @arosswelding

Pipeliner but I’ll take anything I can get right now. Welded my junior and senior year of high school. Starting college this fall at the local community college and taking the welding courses. Trying to find any connects I can right now.

I am running a squirt gun currently an damn good at it. When I was younger I did alot of stick welding mostly 6011 but that's what I want to do I am trying to get more familiar with 7018 6010 an such. Ur videos have bin very helpful. Thank for what u are doing. I'm currently trying to figure out what welder I should get I just watched ur video on the sa 200 an I'm pretty much gna use all ur suggestions. Thanks again an God bless!

I would probably go be a rig welder if my work dries up - I’m an industrial refrigeration mechanic. Not a whole lot of welding in service work but I have been tasked with becoming the new fabricator at my shop. Pipe, skids, hangers, you name it.

I went to the pipeline in New Mexico and west Texas. Stayed in Carlsbad for a long time and then moved to midland. In midland I got hooked on snow and lose my way. Lost everything. I live in my camper now and work as a manager of a tractor supply and I’m saving money to get my cdl. I love welding and wish I hadn’t given it up

Pipe welding is way beyond going to school you'll still be learning n if your welding allot you can still see improvements even 5 years after school.

Would you recommend western welding academy? I have some money to spend and want to get into the trade. I’m 21 years old, and have construction experience. I don’t have any experience welding, but the welding scene in Idaho isn’t the greatest. Would like to get my foot in the door easily! I’ve been considering the master pipe welding course at WWA. If you ever needed a helper, I’d be honored! I’m willing to do whatever it takes.

Eric r some plants have their own crew and some hire stuff out. You have to talk to them to see what they may need. Some jobs may need a machine with a ton of cable. And other jobs may need a crane and a crew.
