Listen man love the content! As someone who never had a proper strength program, I try to absorb as much information as possible. People like you truly help out a lot, even when the topic is something that may seem as simple as this. I’m only 17 and just from these videos and lifting conjugate I’ve been able to see tremendous improvements. Thank you keep up the videos u deserve more praise!
Awesome video Matt. You seem to be the only guy in the industry who talks about having a long healthy career. Would love to see a video with your tips for longevity in a career of lifting.
I love this. And then yet there’s still so many people that think Mike Mentzer was full of it, we appreciate your videos! You give a full explanation on things.
This is great advice. I believe me NOT doing these deloads is the reason why I’m not progressing. I’m going to start doing these deloads from now on after every ultra max effort/ PR sessions. Maybe like every 6 weeks.
This information is very helpful Matt. I run a conjugated 4 days and I’m 51. Maybe I need to consider more rest. Obviously there’s no competitions right now so not really doing balls- to -the -wall maxes but still. What I never understand is people who’s training is going great, gains are good body feels good then they look at the training diary and it’s saying it’s time for a week off so I must do that ! Crazy. Listen to your body.
How does this work with Conjugate and the Max Effort Method? Cycling movements and bars changes stress and load, but isn’t stress simply stress neurologically speaking? Especially, when you account for mental, emotional, and environmental factors as well. Appreciate your time and content.
If i max out on a competition lift should i continue training the assistance exercises that same session? Lets say i max out on bench press. Should i continue training the close grip, incline, flyes, tricep extensions etc or should i call it a day and continue next week?
@@WenningStrength I swear if you coached Larry he would be better, he hasn't been hitting PR's like before, and it was because of his training style, granted he's amazingly stronger but it would be awesome of you made a collab with him, get him training smarter
Really helpful appreciate this .. no one talks about it and all my friends think I’m a pussy because I train hard 3 days a week or 4 instead of 6 or 7 lile them lol
So how does the Conjugate method work? Maxing out every week on a particular variation of the lift right, do you recommend a deload of sorts after that too?
My first 2 reps of 225 always are really solid and it falls down real quick on the 3th Is this a sign of fatigue in the cns? If so what would be your recommendation for someone like me (pr is 265) to do in those 10 days (4 bench days) In terms of sets, weight, rest etc
I Always do very Light warmup a few Times per week just for tendon blood flow. I really mean Light. It can be just to close and open my fist 20*3 and easy wrist pronaton/supernation 20*3 and with no weight morning, evning, night. And thats it,
I eat mostly vegan. It’s so easy to get my protein and vitamins since my diet is mostly vegetables, grains and fruits. Plus these foods aren’t high in calories so I can eat much more in comparison than a standard diet.
Matt i love your videos, big fan right here. But in order for the view count to go up, you have to start making youtube fitness drama/gossip/fake natty videos, full day of eating, eating challanges, perform stupid stunts/lifts (the riskier the better), film yourself without a shirt or in a tank top often, come out with some stupid pre workout supplement, make full workout videos with some fluff cable and machine exercises (without a shirt preferably) and talk a lot about bro science stuff, not actual science etc. Keep up the great work!
The problem is I’m trying to be real - give actual help and no one is backing it. Oh well it either explodes or it doesn’t. Tired of trying to figure it out
I believe he's referring to a max with a competition movement In contrast regular max effort is 1. Rotated constantly 2. Normally a variation that targets a weak point 3. Done without the mental stress accompanying competition movements The recovery period will be much less. Especially with higher rep maxes rotated in (2-5rm)
I'm sure (as the title suggests) that he's talking about resting after competition lifts (Standard lifts with a straight bar... bench, squat, Deadlift). Obviously if you're training westside, you're rarely ever going to be doing those competition competition lifts, you're going to be doing a variation and changing it every week, allowing you to max out because you're switching exercises...
@@c-jayjames7316 well when he says competition or one rep max, then to me the 'one rep max' part in that context just means he's testing his competition max in the gym. Like he's simulating a competition.
I would love a video on if its necessary to gain more weight to continue to get stronger. Because I love the weight that I’m at and don’t wish to gain more weight or anything more than 5lbs
