It was 1957, he was only 20, and he said stuff that was waaaay ahead of its time. I bet you no one else would've talked about this back then. George Carlin was a special kind of comedian.
I'm sure a lot of people expressed sentiments like this at the time, it just wasn't in public. Even this Carlin recording didn't see the light of day for 60 years
You can hear the tv or someone talking in the background. It's so surreal to listen to a snippet of a world that doesn't exist anymore, from the perspective of a brilliant man before he was even at his peak
Strangely good quality of both audio and Carlin's message. It sounds at least a couple decades later than 1957. Pretty much all other material of him from 50's and 60's is him being the silly family-friendly goofball type comedian, I'm surprised he also had such "true Carlin" moments way back then!
Yo! Kublai Khan TX used audio clips from this in their song Self Destruct. I tried for the life of me to find out where the clips were from but to no avail. And then just a few weeks later here I am listening to George Carlin on Spotify and BAM! This track comes on!
I love MOST of what George Carlin presented over the years but he REALLY missed the mark on this one...probably why it wasn't that widely put out in the last 60 years. Like several of the posters mentioned: he probably just got a ticket for driving drunk or high. Firemen are the first on the scene for most emergencies. When my father had a heart attack in 1975 they saved his life. When the power went out in my neighborhood in the mid 1990's it was Firemen that came to my mother's house in a hot minute and switched her over from her oxygen generator to a back up source of oxygen. In 2011 they went to my brother's house at 4 am when his tracheostomy became blocked and he couldn't breathe - effectively saving his life. Same with Police. Just because, in modern times, people commit crimes and they don't want the cops to arrest them so they fight the cops and wonder why they get subdued. It's silly, really. They cause their own deaths by fighting the police. I was driving a car that was a twin of a car that just left the scene of a local bank robbery. no less than 5 cop cars surrounded me, got out with shotguns and pistols drawn, cops on the hood of the car shotguns pointed right at me. Told me I'd be DEAD if I so much as moved a finger off of my steering wheel. They searched the car, processed my I.D. and found out I was driving home from work...no problem. I just followed their instructions and didn't jack up their adrenaline FURTHER to the point where they felt they had to shoot. in the 50's and early 60's Carlin wasn't making it as a straight laced, clean shaven, suit and tie wearing comedian. He took the easy way out and sided with the "counter culture" that was blossoming at the time. THAT'S what primarily catapulted him to widespread fame and fortune. No doubt and to be sure - he was a very intelligent man...but then again so are most used car salesmen, politicians and lawyers.
Fools like you are what gave guys like Carlin material for his act. The enormity of your ignorance about society and human nature is so palpably disgusting it’s almost laughable. You just haven’t got a clue, you’ll live and die not having a clue, all the while thinking you’ve got it all figured out! Enjoy listening to more George Carlin with the knowledge that you are the butt of all of his jokes.

Only if you were a sociopath
He was actually 22.
I'm sure a lot of people expressed sentiments like this at the time, it just wasn't in public. Even this Carlin recording didn't see the light of day for 60 years
I'm pretty sure other folks like Lenny Bruce might have had that same sentiment.
I can't believe this kind of philosophy was recorded in 1957
@Michael Armstrong usually when people are on something they say exactly what's on their minds because they don't realize what they are doing
What’s really hard to believe is this kind of intellectual quality was coming out of a 20 year old. Times have changed
Carlin was calling cops bastards way back in 1957.
You can hear the tv or someone talking in the background. It's so surreal to listen to a snippet of a world that doesn't exist anymore, from the perspective of a brilliant man before he was even at his peak
This guy gets it! I love it man!!!
That's him in the background, the audio echoes

This is so edgy for 1957
Ikr this is something that wasn’t talked about until the mid to late 80s or so
@@tylercox1875 He predates what NWA spoke of by like 30 years
Rayman17578 that’s what I said
youre both wrong, he was about 50 years ahead of the year 2000
Hard to believe that he was only 19 or 20 when this was recorded.
Sounds like a bioshock audio log
This shit is very relevant for 2020 - 2021
@Arnold Johnson Both parties need to go!
It's always been relevant unfortunately.
Sounds like he just got a ticket on the Mass Pike.
I don’t think the pike was built yet. 128 was though.
Thank you

Here I am 2 years after you and I finally found the source of those samples I’ve been hearing. Took forever!
Mind you, George Carlin was 19 or 20 years old in this clip!
Now in my country we have literally 20 years old girls, 5 feet tall, patrolling the streets. I am not kidding.
Let me guess: Israel
What was this actually recorded for? Did he plan to put it out at the time, and nobody wanted it?
Lol he sounds like he just discovered weed 3 months ago.
And is intelligent and perceptive.
Hard to believe that he was only 19 or 20 when this was recorded.
Is this part of a longer recording? Cause boy I could listen to this for an hour?
2:22 Did George Carlin say "I could care less"?!
george carlin supports acab
Yes
As do i
Omg republicans would be so pissed off rn listening to this.
This Republican loves hearing what George has to say. Very eye opening as well as funny man! Lord knows he'd have a BOAT LOAD of material today!
What about this was about Boston?
no clue. that's just what was written on the original tape
He had a job in Boston as a DJ.

One cop watched this 👎
I love Carlin, but I have to admit, this was pretty gay

Just because you had a good experience doesn’t mean everybody does. Anecdotal stories aren’t evidence.
Bootlicker
I was on board with you about firemen until you went all "shit bootlickers say" on us.
