    My and mum and I live in a 2 bedroom flat, we moved in about 10 months ago. We got now broadband as we had them in the old house and had very few negative experiences. When we got the new box, it took an extremely long time just to connect (we had to phone twice) and whenever I went into my bedroom (a room next to the living room w/ the box is,) there's almost no connection especially when I go to my piano which is opposite the door. (Not useful if you're looking for sheet music online)
    It's been tolerable until about 2 weeks ago now where it drops about every 2 minutes, I go into my mum's room where it's like a 4ft travelling distance for the signal and I have to switch to using my data because the connection is so dogshit
    We don't have much money and that's why we used their service, but honestly even that money is going down the drain
    From about 3-4pm yesterday there's been no internet for anything but ethernet, and there's still none now writing this at 9am the next day. The last time it died like this it fixed itself by about midnight but I can't stand this service anymore honestly. Absolute scam. My WiFi signal for the last campsite I went to was better, literally

      It's not the internet that's the issue. It's the router.
      The router has like 5 wifi antennae and they are terrible at penetrating walls. I have the same problem as you.
      NOW is, and always has been, a budget service. It's cheaper, contract length is shorter and they use Sky's old router from like 2015 or something. It doesn't even have gigabit ethernet (in 2023!).
      If you want a better quality signal, faster speeds etc, you really should be paying more for something better.

    3 mobile hub is not correct this router by phone sim IS NOT 5G its 2.5g go load the router settings it shows you & you cannot change settings to 5G so its false advertisement in a way because it stats, 5G performance i just bought it & it runs a phone at 320 mbs a second superbly But a firestick it runs 29 to 53.5 max & that's the best i got & then it jumps off the connection if you don't put the firestick down to 720p because when your on 1080p HD the firestick just pauses then drops the wifi signal & you cant watch anything & it pops on the sceeen,
    resolution to high switch to 720p but when its on 720p it runs great even if ot drops speeds to about 5mb so 720 works if your speed drops eithlut interruption But it usually runs about 40 mbits average unless its for a phone then 320mb a second is correct but phones Only.
    This is my only down fall for the 3G hub but it is good for only £10 a month i got a 24 month deal at £10 a month then it goes up to £20 for the remainder of the contract so ok.
    If you use 720p to view firestick tv then cool but it does plays 1080p steaming movies excellently 👍

    You forgot to mention another major disadvantage of Now Broadband is the router is supplied with only 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports! Most providers have 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports. They have no other router choice with 4 ports. That put me off from subscribing to their service even though it is quite cheap at £20 a month.
    Also the 63Mbps on FTTC is the average speed. The speed goes up to 80Mbps if you are relatively close to the cabinet.

      Good point, we'd agree that the standard router is definitely a weakness of NOW Broadband at the moment.

    • @damon.lee.r
      @damon.lee.r Рік тому

      not a major, it's a minor, that can easily be overcome as you can buy a tp-link 5 port switch for about £13 (TL-SG105S) and 8 port one for about £18 (TL-SG108S)... i only use 1 port on the router (as internet gateway) which goes to the switch, then the switch handles all the internal network, rather than overloading the router ports. I've crashed many of routers using their internal ports as a switch... especially when i do development and stress test network apps between desktop linux servers on the network.. the switch handles this without crashing.. the routers don't (froze and rebooted). I also created an internal network via the mains tp-link TL-PA7017P powerline adapters.. and in another room i have a 5 port switch plugged into the powerline adapter.

    I wonder if you could advice please - I’ve got NOWbroadband super fibre, and just bought an eero 6 Wi-Fi router, but since the NOWHub 2 is a combined modem router, how do I disable the router part and use the eero only? so eero wifi6 can do it’s magic rather than the inferior nowhub router. I believe I should bridge the nowwifi router, but HOW, I’d be grateful for a step-by-step instructions if you have please.

    • @broadbandsavvy
      @broadbandsavvy  Рік тому

      We believe you might be able to just plug both into power, the plug the NOW router into the Eero's WAN port using an Ethernet cable. If that doesn't work, and there are no settings you can find in the NOW router's settings to enable this, we'd recommend calling up NOW support to confirm that this works, and if so what you need to do with their router to set it up.

    No it isn't a good choice. They give search preference to UA-cam. Switch on your phone's kb/s viewer and see for yourself. It jumps from almost nothing to hundreds as soon as you switch on UA-cam.

    • @broadbandsavvy
      @broadbandsavvy  2 роки тому

      Not sure I understand what you mean by search preference. Do you mean that their router QoS ships with rules that prioritise UA-cam traffic?

      @@broadbandsavvy Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I do not believe that Sky/Now are following Net Neutrality guidelines.

    This Wi-Fi is trash.Straight up trash. It keeps on crashing. It barely reaches upstairs and not to mention you can't play video games with this sh!tty Wi-Fi.
    -100/10 My mum regrets this so bad. Whenever she contacts now tv ,they don't answer her so not only does it have bad Wi-Fi, it also has bad customer service.
    Note - this is my opinion. Pls don't hate on me.

      To be honest, there's nothing customer service can do about signal issues. I recommend getting your own router. All ISPs provide a very basic router which may not provide great coverage.

    Don't bother it's rubbish... The WPS button doesn't even reach up the stairs into the loft, so can't connect CCTV to phone... With all the other providers, and the issues we've had, it's never been this bad!!
    The routers are simply not fit for purpose, and I wish I hadn't gone for a 12 month contract!
    Added to that, the Now customer servie advisor who told us to split the network to 2.4g and 5g, just made all the connections worse!
    Stay away!!
    Will be cancelling contract 😡😡😡

    • @viron6734
      @viron6734 Рік тому

      It sounds like the problem isn't the connection but the router itself. You should buy your own router rather than expect amazing performance from the cheap one they send you. 12 months is actually a very short contract; most ISPs do 18 or 24 months.

    • @ponygirl1717
      @ponygirl1717 Рік тому

      @@viron6734 perhaps you should read the comments below... It's absolutely because of the substandard router, that Now provide.
      Anyway they cancelled my contract, and I went back to Talk Talk, with which I had no problem connecting their router to my CCTV within 30 seconds!!!
